The reliant is a relativly easy design to recreate consider this its pretty much a constitution class ship without the secondary or engineering hull probably would be easier to construct on the ground as JJ Abrams seems to think they can be. Did we forget physics sir. Vessels like the Enterprise are too heavy to be built in a 1 gee enviroment. Thats why ST the motion picture and ST TNG feature shipyards in space it is impossible otherwise
The difference between Star Wars fans and Star Trek fans. Star Wars fans don't stand for inferior product. They won't be going to the 3D version of the Phantom Menace or any of the horrible prequels Lucas foisted on them. But Trek fans are so hard up for any Trek, even crappy JJ Abrams Trek, they'll see Trek 12 three times, then buy the over priced Blu Ray.
@CreatureFeatureFred Do you mean me? Because if you do than you are wrong, I'm fan of star wars AND star trek. Yes I saw JJ's movie but I wasn't excited about it at all. But the visuals were stunning. That's why I try match it the best I can.
Yeah cause the prequels weren't successful at all and don't have a TV show dedicated to them. I'd say plenty of people seem to be standing quite nicely for this so called "inferior product". Look, both series have had their low points (Star Trek 5 anyone?), but when both are great, they're great. This shit of "my fandom is better than yours" has got to stop, these 2 franchises have so little in common it's not even funny.
@CreatureFeatureFred I consider myself a star wars fan and a trek fan... I've been both for over 30 years. For the first time in decades, I was excited about a Trek film because that movie 1) Emotionally captivated me from beginning until the end, 2) Had wonderful characterizations, 3) Was fast paced, and 4) Reminded mainstream audiences why they love TOS.
Hahahahahaha "Star Wars fans don't stand for inferior product" you say? In what sci-fi universe is that true? there is so much crap StarWars merch and media its laughable, and it is brought and sold by the truckload, they will go and see thoses 3d movies and they will buy all the limited edition things that go with it. FACT lol
Not saying that Startrek isnt guilty of doing the same, but Starwars isnt any less guilty XD
As a fan of the "Prime" Reliant-class, I have to say that that is actually a beautiful model and you have perfectly captured the elegance and feel of JJ's reinvention of Star Trek. I think the music could have been better, but that is my only down point.
@scifiroel That would be brilliant but I don't really think I have the skill to be able to. Please keep at it though. Before you know it we'll see you on the credits for Star Trek XII.
@gracefulblades001 now you are giving me too much honour, thre are guys like me on you tube who are 10 time better than me. anyway, about those tips, The key is to begin simple, if you have seen my earier video's you saw that's rubbish compared to this. That's because I started with the basics and slowly rose to this level by experimenting a lot. Also tutorials on you tube and other sites make you understand this basics. The best programs are adobe after effects, photoshop and google sketchup
@gracefulblades001 you can import 3d models from photoshop into after effects, that's how I first got started, by experementing I managed to improve the detail of the models and gave me an understanding of how to work with blender in combination with after effects (which I do now). Blender is a free 3d open source program which is very powerfull, you should check it out. Oh and thanks again for your comment :)
@qwghdfjrfhadhda i don't care, it doens't matter! you know what I mean right? I made a 3d animaton thats what counts! i bet you can't even dream of making one!
@ShadowDarter you're right. I've had (and still have actually) problems to optimise my lighting, it's rather difficult to balance. Thanks for you're comment :)
i dont know where you learned about FTL travel, but there is a huge difference between hyperspace and warp drive, and what you have animated here, is a ship going to warp.
@AngelArm1110 listen, I don't care about that! warp, hyperspace...it's all the same to me!! Just watch the animation I've made and comment on what you think of it.
good, bad, could be better, something like that.
But don't comment on detaills where no one actually cares about!
@scifiroel apologies, but as physicist i can sometime let the semantic details get the best of me. all that aside though your animation is quite well done, and i particularly liked your use of light flares, in homage to JJ abrams preferred style of shooting
good animation.....in maya or 3ds i suppose.....anyways....make the warp arc a little longer....use motion trail and maybe give it sort of a circular path like in JJ's movie......
@scifiroel no problem, sorry I wasn't being very observant...... u should check out the star trek animation I made on my channel....I did it with Maya and Vue.......its called "star trek animation"
A) no matter how great a vid is (and yours is!) youtube does worsen the quality when you upload it here,
B)I "grew up" on places like Sci-fi Meshes/Sci-fi art and downloading was the only way to do it in them days, as a result I have a nice collection
C) I like watching my collection when the internet connection goes down and Youtube is fickle, especially because you've used music in your clip, could turn up to watch it and its gone!

Lots of lens flares. Just like JJ would have liked it.

You could use more lens flares ;)

@gracefulblades001 @gracefulblades001 I can't take credit for the model, that was made by Madman (that's his artists name I presume)
but the animation is completely mine :)

@scifiroel Well it is still pretty amazing. I am a fairly intelligent guy and I wouldn't have the faintest idea of where to even begin.

needs more stretch and the lighting should be more harsh, seems that you are using a more softer lighting source as if in a atmosphere.

@cdname47 I'm afraid not.
Just curious, why do you want to download it?
scifiroel 1 year ago
@scifiroel Couple of reasons really

@cdname47 I'd never claim it as my own if thats what you were wondering.
I wouldn't know how for a start and respect other people's art as well! ;-)

@cdname47 If the file was not too large I would sent it to you by E-mail.
If you know of a way of how to get my video online for you to download, let me know.
