Both parts of this video are extraordinary. But if you really really feel the blues, in my opinion, the two best parts are when Doyle Bramhall finally moves up the neck to bend one string. That's number two. Number one is when Billy Preston sticks the piece of wood between the keys and leans back and puts his arms up in the air. Can you feel it?
at 8:39, the sound engineers autotuned his mistake. you can hear the mistake if you download the raw soundboard version of Crossroads 2004 off of the torrents somewhere (i can't tell you where because I dont know where ti is anymore). Just something to check out :)
@ABFan19 I almost only watch this to see Billy Preston kill it. Yeah, everyone else is amazing, but there's nothing I like better than a well played hammond!
Hi guys!! Anybody knows the correct drawbars' set used by Billy Preston? I've tried with 000400007 (upper)...it's quite good but I've lost this "whao whao" effect 5:24!!
i was going to write some epic analysis of this song and how great clapton was and all that jazz but then i realized it would be futile i doubt i can write anything to really fully express what clapton meant/means to me growing up and to this day
This whole video, parts 1 and 2, are about as good as it gets. But if I was to pick the best moment of the whole like 14 minutes, if you really feel the blues, really "feel" it, then the best moment, is when Billy Preston puts the piece of wood in keyboard to lock the key in place and raises his hands. That is the best moment of all.
Chris Stainton is a top notch keyboardist, that's for sure. I differ from him when I solo on this style, but he is definitely beyond a shadow of a doubt someone I take influence from.
You must hear the version from "One More Car" it blows this away. Whatever your standing near hang on to it when Billy turns it on. It's hard to choose between 'Hyde Park" and "One More Car" both GREAT versions. "Hyde Park" is done in the Chicago blues style which you don't hear from Clapton much. If your reading this you owe it to yourself to find that version, it will not disapoint.
io ragazzi sono per il metal e l'hard rock, però di fronte ad un esibizione del genere nn posso rimanere che affascinato.....questi sono i VERI musicisti!!!!
Think something was lost there. Eric was on fire. Gave way to instruments, that are in my opinion, better suited to a mellower, but as intense, sound. I'm not trying to piss anybody off. Just how I heard it.
I'm with you luckis1711. Billy was really one of a kind. It's a great compliment to Doyle that Mr. Preston is enjoying his playing so much. That is worth more than triple platinum.
That was terrific! Before this, I was watching him play the same song in '99. He played a blistering solo 10 years ago and a blistering solo 5 years ago. Now I have to see what he can do today.
Thank`s for posting it, I have enjoyed every minute of part 1& 2 . There is no need to say anything the guitar speaks by itself in Eric hands. LOVE IT.
Doyle Bramhall II is not bad, but I think he needs stronger playing and he needs more of those, "DAMN!, That was amazing!" goosebump moments like Eric Clapton. Nonetheless, he is still a good guitarist.
yeah, as i said before or in the other part thsi is pure improvistation. The chords are very simple, just a 12 bar blues in C. For those people that want to know: the chord progression is a I IV V ( for they key of C they are: C, F, G), dont forget that in the blues, this chords are usually seventh chords but in this song clapton is using C9, F9 and G9.

Im telling you the truth if you know how to play guitar or have any musical knowledge, I'm just trying to help other musicians learn how to improvise in this song (C Mayor Pentatonic Scale)
How about you get self taught and just listen and play, i only have ever been shown the pentatonic scale once, and i use minor, blues the list goes on. It just come through with improvisation and through hearing and incorporating other greats such as Clapton licks. Id hate to think of ppl who think about it technically, must be a bore :P
Acv. Saying its in C pentatonic is very silly comment because you dont need to think like that with clapton, he only rly ever used pentatonic(blues) scale anyway...so why not just say something like. " Hey guys, this is in C " lol. Think thats were wateverman111's comment came from and i have to agree with him completely.
I had already seen the 2 parts ... But today I saw again! Besides the great performance of all the musicians, what makes me most crazy, is the satisfaction in the face of EC, the DBII's smile and B. Preston very relaxed (live forever through his music)!!!
