Some of the things you all are saying sounds real ignorant. Second, if you don't like the movie, why comment and bash everyone else who thinks highly of this movie. Yes, situations in this movie are real, things like this do happen on a daily basis weather you see it,or not! The film won an oscar because of the outstanding performances, the "not holding anything back" factor, and the message and impact it had on the audience. I encourage all to educate yourself before you spread your opinions!
You have to watch the entire film to get the real understanding of the context of this scene and just how powerful and emotional it is... Gives me goosebumps every time...
Such an absurdly overrated film. Brenden Fraiser and Sandra Bullock and Ryan Phillipe - terrible choices. For a REAL good quality film try the following: Traffic (2000), The Insider (1999), and Syriana (2005). This is overrated garbage.
the song in the background is actually being sung in Welsh. it is based on an old Welsh folk song about a woman called Lisa and the lyrics represent her lover lamenting over her.
"Do lawer awr mewn mwynder maith,
Yr oedd dy gwmni'n well na'r mêl,
Bûm yn dy gusanu Lisa gêl
Yr oedd dy gwmni'n well na'r mêl,
Yr oedd dy gwmni'n well na'r mêl..."
a powerful depiction of cause and effect, of regret, and ultimately, redemption.
Simplemente en el minuto 3:01 Lo disculpa y ademas esta agradecida y no pede creer que la persona quien le hizo algo tan malo le aya dado el mejor regalo de todos La vida, q ironia. exelente esena
what i took away from the last scene from 3:05-3:26 was when she looked back at him she was like you should have'nt lived your life that way "before" "groping/molested scene" and he was looking back like damn! i shouldnt have with regretfullness in his face. Like one act of kindness didnt quite change the world today it just saved a life....
If it happened that way, it would have been much more dramatic and much more poetic. After all, we're already awarded a "happy" moment when the Iranian's bullets turn out to be blank . . .
Of course, American audiences aren't happy unless everyone walks away okay in the end. Sort of makes the whole thing sour in my opinion (not the movie, I mean in general), but it is what it is I guess.
Either way, I still think this is an awesome flick, and it's a rarity, especially this day in age.
@billbenblue Then You don't get American Audiences at all. All that CW and Sugar coated Republican watered down mess is not who we are. We are edgy and realistic. The issue with this movie if you pay attention is that it's a cycle that's why there was a crash at the end of the movie. It shows the point all this has happened before all this will happen again all we can control is how we treat each other when and if it does happen to us.
I love this movie, but I wish this scene was different. I'm not trying to be an asshole, but I think if she had actually died, it would have been all the more provocative: Matt Dillion's character redeems himself by recognizing his sin as he rescues the woman he wronged, but by the time he understands this, it's too late. She dies, and the only witness to his redemption perishes in the flames, leaving him to bear the gravity of his own sin. This is how it plays out for most of us in real life.
Tiemblo cada vez que veo esta escena, sobre todo ese momento en que parece que la tragedia es inevitable. La banda sonora y todo el guión del film acentúan una obra maestra.
Soon you will have to suffer through a commercial before you can watch any video on Youtube. It never ends. The hustle never ends for the Almighty dollar.
this and the scene with the hispanic guy and his daughter are so powerful. i love the look she give him at the end. it shows that even though they just bonded as humans when he saved her, once she was saved she allowed her resentment for him to come back and he who resented her for no good reason no longer felt it for her. it show's that people who hate for no good reason create hate in others, so that when they stop hating. everyone eles is too busy hating them. ironic.
had he not done what he did the night before would he have gone back inside the car? i would like to think so. its kinda funny when everyone else is running from the danger, whatever it may be, we men and women in blue are always running towards it. we are not superheroes, just ordinary people doing the best we can with what we've got. thank a police ofc/firefighter/nurse/teacher today.
Well when you think about it the woman would not of had even been in the crash in the first place had the officer had not done the things he did the night before. She went for that drive to talk to her husband and stuff and she crashed on the way some where else
i dont think he would have gone back had it not been for the night before. after the night before he had a moral obligation to go back. as an officer in blue he only had a social obligation to do make an honest effort to save her. honest effort was going in the first place- he could have stopped when he realized he had to cut her out. even at that point all people would have hailed him as a hero for trying at all.
going back had less to do with the uniform, that was over and above the uniform- it spoke to the character... the potential of his character which he unseemingly searched for all movie long.
but even still i will continue to thank our social servants every day
Probably the best ever scene from a Movie, but who ever posted it done ti wrong should of got it from when they jump out of the police car. why in 2 parts?? makes no sense
one of the best movie scenes ever!! sooo good how they do it and when they both realise who each other are. everytime i watch its still so dramatic!!!!!!!
aedmas de todo lo que decis sindrome..mas la situacion previa que viven estos dos personajes en el film hace mas impactante la escena. gracias por comentar
Heart was in my mouth-lips quivering. Can't remember a more gripping film scene . The scene where he finger raped her and this saving her life is so ironic and so sad. Outstanding film!!
El hecho de que ella no pueda salir del auto, combinado con que los demas policias quieren sacarlo a el pero el no quiere irse sin salvarla mas la excelente musica hace que sea una de las tantas mejores escenas de esta magnifica pelicula..

Powerful. when the villain saves the victim; the contradiction preys on deep psychological emotions.
