If you wanna label it, it's more thrash/power metal with the occasional blast beat than anything else. The three main influences are easily Megadeth, Nevermore, and LOG.

The bass is not supposed to be a flamboyant instrument like the guitar. You could very well do it, but those guys are considered regular guitar players playing bass guitar. Some people haven't been playing long enough to know the difference. It takes more skill to stay in the realm of actually playing the bass and not trying to create your own little niche. Your job as a bass playing is to backup and anchor, not stand out.
