  • These dont look like the ones from jurrasic park. These ones look like faggots. Only the one at 1:50 looks good.

  • utahraptor the king!

  • It's also my favorite dinosaur ever since I found out about it in Microsoft Dinosaurs cd-rom. They are the real stars in Jurassic Park. Damn raptors!

  • Some facts about raptors:

    - They were feathered, and in fact they are considered the group most close to avians, while still being dinosaurs.

    - The 'Velociraptor' portrayed at Jurassik Park, was in fact, a Utahraptor (Dinosaur that was discovered few months after the movie!!)

    - The true 'Velociraptor mongoliensis' was small, about the size of a small wolf. Deinonychus was medium sized, equivalent to a jaguar... Utahraptor was huge, roughly equivalent to a polar bear... faster and more vicious

  • Dinosaur era: when shit was epic.

  • Hola soy un niño me gusto el video el que lo hizo es como " un genio " ajaja besos ♥♥

  • RIP Deinonychus, may you find peace now brave one. You were taken from us too soon. You were one of the best dinosaurs until the Jurrasic Park film lied about the size of velociraptors. There is not a day goes by that I don't think about you. I will never forget how wrong I was that time I chose the monoclonius dinorider figurine over you, as he was the same price as you and the pterodactyl, thinking I could surely convince my grandma to buy you at a later time... You are gone, forever missed :(

  • es falso. este tenia plumas y no escamas por todo el cuerpo. eso k idolatras no es k un simple mini rex

  • they need to be feathered

  • deinonychus means terrible claw. it is the dinosaurian equivalent of a ninja. no dinosaur besides utahraptor and larger raptors and sauropods could defeat it. spinosaurus? doesn't stand a chance. deino runs so fast spino or any other giant predator would even be able to react before deino jumps 6 feet into the air, and starts climbing up the side of them, crawling onto the neck, AND RIPPING THE FLIPPING HECK OUTTA THERE FACES AND NECKS AT 45,000 POUNDS!

  • my favourite too

  • Deinonychus is my favourite dinosaur! you'll simply have to choose another one. Then, and only then, we can play...

  • Deinonychus is my favourite dinosaur too!

  • thx chaz awesome song and dinosaur

  • what song is this?

  • handlebars - flobots

  • This thing probably was covered in feathers.

  • Nice pictures, even if almost all of them are severely dated reconstructions ;-)

  • yeh i know, but its not like i could have gone back in time to take pics of them. lol

  • Hehe, no ofc. What I mean is, that several of the pictures show Deinonychus with the domed head, that was based on a wrong reconstruction of the cranium and was corrected in the 1980s. Also, almost none of the pictures show it with the feathers and fully developed wings, that all maniraptors are known to have had.

  • This is the dinosaur that should've been in the Jurassic Park movies, not tiny little velociraptor!!! I will remain firm on that until the day that I die!

    Nice vid, btw!

  • "This is the dinosaur that should've been in the Jurassic Park movies, not tiny little velociraptor!!!" - Actually, the Velociraptors in Jurassic Park ARE Deinonychus. Crichtons novel was written during a period, where there was debate as to wether Deinonychus should be considered an American variation of the Asian Velociraptor. Some paloentologists even called it Velociraptor Antirrhopus, which is the name Crichton used. Today Deinonychus is considered a seperate genus from Velociraptor.

  • Are you sure about that? The information that I got stated that Velociraptor only measured about 2.07 m and weighed 15 kg (essentially the size of a turkey), while Deinonychus measured 3.4 m and weighed around 73 kg. Big difference indeed, don't you think?

  • That's not what I was talking about. The debate in the '90s was about wether or not Deinonychs should be calassified as a seperate genus or as part of the Velociraptor genus, so when Michael Crichton is using Velociraptors in JP he actually means Deinonychus. Anyway, the difference in sice between Velociraptor and Deinonychus isn't really that important. Just think of the difference between a Chihuahua and a Great Dane: Those two are the same species, not just the same genus.

  • Nope, the Velociraptor of JP was actually Utahraptor, ask robert T. Bakker or easier, read Raptor red.

  • You're wrong. First of all JP was written in 1990 and Utahraptor wasn't discovered untill 1991. Second, the size atributed to the "raptors" in JP (both book and films) correspond better to Deinonychus than Utahraptor. Third: The simple fact that many paleontologists actually called Deinonychus a species in the genus Velociraptor. Bakkers comments were about the raptors in Spielbergs film, but they too were designed prior to the scientific describtion of Utahraptor.

  • In Raptor red, Bakker states that no Raptor species lived up to the JPs Raptors size standards until Utahraptor was found a year on. some of the raptors in JP were over 3 metres in length, exceeding Deinonychus' size.

  • The largest Deinonychus specimen found is estimated to have been 3.4 metres long, where as Utahraptor (which is based on rather incomplete remains) is estimated to have reached 6.5 metres in length.

The raptors in Spielbergs film are too tall and of much too stocky build to perfectly mimic Deinonychus, but in overall size, there is no question wether or not they're Deinonychus.

  • Bakkers quote is rather meaningless simply because, as I said, the novel was written before the discovery of Utahraptor, and the design of the raptors in Spielbergs movie was made before Utahraptor was scientifically described. "Raptor Red" is a work of fiction, and of course it made sense for Bakker to relate his book to the recent success of the blockbuster movie (not that I don't appreciate Bakkers work as a paleontologist - but here he is just wrong)

  • the raptors in JP were way to small to be utah raptors anyways...

  • well no, utah raptor was six foot six inches, and deinonychus was around 5 to 5 1/2 feet tall. so the raptors in jp are in between

  • Status: Classified

    Species: Deinonychus Antirrhopus

    Nickname: "Velociraptor"

    Maximum Speed: >70 MPH

Abilities: Pack hunting, side attacks, 6 inch middle toe claw, very high leaping, vocal communication, classified intelligence

  • hmmmm, thankz 4 that

  • @CommanderLightning ummm actually, the volociraptor was found in asia... where the deinonychus was found in north america. And the idea that they went over 70mph is a little far fetched if you look at what bipeds today run. Just sayin

  • @okaley You're talking about Velociraptor Mongoliensis. I'm talking about Deinonychus Antirrhopus that was nicknamed "Velociraptor".

  • @CommanderLightning The only time I have heard of a deinonychus called a velociraptor was in Jurrasic Park... and their representation was actually pretty poor.

  • @CommanderLightning deinonychus does not run 70 mph

  • @wolfquestboy just so you know the dinosaurs were huge not just like a lizard dude ....

  • @CommanderLightning

Deinonychus and velociraptor ain't the same

  • @zeroTOnineify

    deinonychus was way taller

  • @zeroTOnineify That's its nickname. I know they aren't the same. Velociraptor Mongoliensis and Velociraptor Osmolskae bear the name in the genus, but Deinonychus Antirrhopus is what most refer to as "Velociraptor" by nickname.

  • @CommanderLightning they are only 'nicknamed' Velociraptor in Jurassic park. In reality Velociraptors are entirely different dinos that are much smaller, not as bright, and lived on a different continent. they called them that because they thought Deinonychus wasnt 'Tropical' enough.

  • @CommanderLightning Uhm... that's Jurassic Park dude.

And it's not on the middle toe.

  • my favorite too!

  • I love the vid and deinonychus

  • Deinonychus rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • yeah there awesome!

  • kooool
