  • Oh god I hope the people get the tape recording of The Smashing Pumpkins and the reference to it falling off the car at the end!

This video is a sequel to "1979" with those kids being older. After filming "1979" The Smashing Pumpkins flew out to play a concert. The tapes for the music video were left on a car roof and the driver left. They were lost and they had to come back and re-shoot it. Nice tie-in!

But most of all, I love The Smashing Pumpkins.

since then I'm a huge Smashing Pumpkins fan...

I always found it sad when the dude lost his cassette...

  • @addicted2slipknot666

However it appears to be that you are far more addicted to slipknot, sir.

    For shame!

  • @psychoticsquirrel

Well I didn't know it was against the law to listen to different genre's of music,,

"If" you whatched my account, you could see all the bands I REALLY listen to,,

Slipknot was just a fase and I don't see a reason to go thrue all that bullshit to change my youtube name,,

be glad a teenager still listens to rock,,

I don't blame you that you listen to other bands that I don't like,, I'm not bitching about it,,

    maybe it's because I'm MATURE....

    grow up, they say

  • Adore has really grown on me, i thought it was poor compared to mellon collie, but i lilistened to it last night, and i was like, ye ...this is actually really good

The greatest pastime in this man's world

Is playin' tricks on every young girl.

To have one is how they get their kick.

But not me because I know their trick.

And they're wrong to think I

Will be caught by the wink of an eye.

My mama didn't lie. (Mama didn't lie.) She didn't lie.

Mama didn't lie, she didn't lie.

  • @11xzxzxz fuck lenny krapvitz

  • @airwalkcrazy360 I forget what I wrote but sure ..

  • My fav song by TSP. Of course it was ignored by the majority who have no taste.

  • I like BIlly's hat.

  • @davidcu96 Look at Zwan "lyric" now thats a silly hat hes wearing, but what right have I got talking he made the Nosferatu look work for him

  • i love how they got the kids from 1979 video, that's just awesome !

  • Is that James as the convenience store worker?

  • @RyanIsOffended Yup lol :D

  • Billy Corgan was/is one of great rock poets. I believe he is quite underrated (at the guitar too) and is truly a genius, as this song very well displays.

BTW, he needs to get D'arcy and James back.

  • Way better quality than the "most viewed" version! Awesome tune...

  • The Days and the Nights are different worlds...

  • 'Memories unwind,

So far I still know who you are,

But now I wonder who I was.'

    Love these lyrics.

  • Loves my pumpkiny brosefs

  • i think this is my fave Smashing Pumpkin video or one of them. This is the first time I saw the whole video.

  • This SONG is PERFECT!!!

  • fantastic.........

  • Billy Corgan tears your heart out. This song is so good it makes me forgive the song he did for Batman and Robin

  • I've always felt that Adore was the most underrated and best album they ever made.

  • WOW. brings back a lot of memories. back when music was great, the 90's

    '

  • putos todos

  • Next time I promise we'll be

    Perfect

  • Beautiful song.

  • " Next time I promise we'll be Perfect "

    <3

  • @yousnuber all time loser...

  • happy hearts day ! (heart_beat)

  • the intro of this song is a direct lift from the "whippoing boy" song "blinded". i like the pumpkins but c'mon

  • @deadlifter77 I guess you are only half right...Sure they sound almost identical. But I believe the real inspiration for smashing pumpkins is new order - "love vigilantes" as you may know that NO is a big influence on Billy Corgan. It may apply to whipping boy, too. So, I would rather say both of them rip off new order. And maybe whipping boy ripped off more since they used it as the main signature riff in this song.

  • this song is 'perfect' strangely it brings me back to time of innocence in my life!

  • @GINO868 i must agree with you. so much younger and more free. we didn't know the things we know now and life was just more open. oh well, i'm still looking forward to the life i'll have with my wife and daughter! those days back then were so much fun ,,,, i believe greater times ahead .... cheers!

  • @mozhalwaystheday:

    --i agree completely!--

  • The 90's and the 60's had the best music. The music meant something and was both original and talented, The Smashing Pumpkins being one of the greatest.

I hope the 90's make a comeback in some way in the next 10 years like the 80's did in the last 10 years.

  • bababooeyloover. you think your devoted hah. i would dip one of billies nuts in nacho cheese and the other in salsa and like them up. jessica simpson will not take him from me i promise you that

  • ...wow.....how do you feel about shane macgowan?

  • the reason im asking is because billy corgan is a well known great lyricist but i feel shane macgowan is also a great lyricist and is very underrated and you being a girl (im guessing) do you only like billy bc of looks or whats the deal? read some of macgowans lyrics or listen to his songs and tell me what your HONEST opinion. i mean i know it sometimes takes awhile to get into certain bands and stuff but i am just wondering....plus its all a matter of OPINION anyway.

  • haha im a dude and straight haha and i know how you thought i was a chick dipping his balls in nacho cheese isnt something a dude would say much but honestly some of billies songs made me cry like when im havin a bad day or someone dies that i know. mayonaise was my favorite song by him second might have to be porcelina. and try try try the alt version would always cheer me up and i also used to sing lily(my one and only) when i felt lonely. sp really is perfect all around.

  • PLUS (sorry to keep on bothering) but you answering this question could really really help me out im kinda troubled right now but you answering will help me tremendously but only if you answer honestly lol

  • hahaha you made me laugh

  • i miss tha 90's music...

if i could turn back time..lol

    nakakamis ang nakaraan mga tol

  • I would like to dip Billy Corgan's head in hot oils and rub it all over my body

  • @bababooeylover wow. thats kinky.

  • I love the chorus is this song, even more than 1979!

  • My favorite band of all time. This album was shuned because the majority have no taste in music. Absolutely love this song.

  • @NumroZero my favorite band also

  • @NumroZero Dont you hate it when someone says something like this and every one jumps on it in agreement

  • @NumroZero I don't wich alblum this was from furst, but it's on "Rotten Apples"

tank you BILLY CORGAN, KIRT COBAIN, AND MICHEAL STRIPE for all you great music

  • @NumroZero

adore is my second favorite pumpkins album.

    who the hell shuns it??

    lol whatever

  • I think his cowboy hat looks really great on him :P

  • Smashing Pumpkins...ahhhhh I grew up listening to these guys. Still awesome, but not the same without D'arcy and Iha, even if they technically didn't do that much. But still, the sum is greater than its parts yeah?

  • Yes I'm in total agreement Astro, and D'arcy was just a hottie anyways, ever look in the leaflet inside the Ave Adore CD? ^ ^

  • The video is pretty interesting and the song is beautiful :)

  • I like this song:D

  • I wonder if Billy Corgan is married or has a boyfriend? I would grab him and make him mine if i could. I would to feel all of him. He is so hot. I want to have his children.

  • grow up psycho

  • boyfriend? is he gay?

  • WRONG! The director's name are: Jonathan DAYTON & Valerie Faris.

    Beautiful song!

  • im not a big fan of rock but i LOVE this song

  • (L this song º

  • This song is amazing! just like 1979

  • It was like aa sequel to 1979.

  • really. Its good music still.

  • @Dr23rippa This vid is the sequel to the 1979 video, so the song may be as well. I really like that aspect.

  • this song is dedicated to ..

  • Is the tape on the car falling off and getting destroyed a reference to the original shooting of the "1979" video suffering the same fate?

  • so help me out is the prego girl already a mom with the dark haired guy and now cheating and calling her lover when she found out she is prego? or do I have it all wrong?

  • i think so lol

  • Descendant of Corganism at Amazon

  • Is it just me, or is this the same convenience store and clerk that were in the 1979 music video?

  • yep

  • yeah

this music video and 1979 were, i guess, filmed in the same universe

they hired a bunch of the original actors from 1979

  • they did an interview with one of the guys in this video and in 1979. This is pretty much how the friends spread apart as they get older. And Billy Corgan is all knowing like in 1979

  • Haha, the convenience store clerk is James Iha.

  • awesome video. Dayton and Faris are magnificent directors. their music videos seem more like short independent films rather than your standard music video.

  • whats up wit corgan's hat? lol

  • it makes u miss the days when they made these vids

  • I miss the 90s so bad

  • So the husband dies from the car crash, the guy the pregnant chick called starts a high speed car chased that caused his death, and the one undercover lost the tape from the other girl calling him :S?

The lil deviants all grown up and still raising hell i suppose, a latter version of 1979.

Such a very very abstract video.

  • Giuesppe Andrews is bomb! :)

  • 1979 and perfect it's the same song

  • giuseppe andrews is in this and 1979... perhaps it's the same friends all grown up?

  • fiuckinawsome.

  • Te quiero chinita jajaja :D

  • ove this song

and i reconized the same store from 1979!

  • Perfect

    Strangers when we meet

    Strangers on the street

    Lovers while we sleep....

  • que recuerdos.......

  • This isn't smashing pupkins style- but meh it's still awesome

  • well, honestly, I think this is what the smashing pumpkins do best.

  • i would have to agree. this is billy being honest and true to what comes naturally in terms of music.

  • brilliant song

AND there's a lauren in it!!

    *points to self*

  • the best of the best

  • lol, Lex from the movie Detroit Rock City is in this. This is an awesome song, smashing pumpkins are awesome!
