I have an 06 Predator 500, I've raced it in Hair-scrambles, it keeps up...my body can't tho...haha. This bike has held together for a long time, only dmg I've done was bursted the rear shock on a jump landing quite a few years ago, and destroying a front right wheel assembly mid-race, between my bearing unit bursting and hitting a tree on the A-arm because of it, then sitting in the woods for 1hour, luckily with another racer(cause he broke down too), I didn't have quite too much fun that race.
lol....them 700s are for carrying them big guys....i dont think that they were made for dragging lol...they r pretty quick, and i have never raced one myself but by all of the videos i have seen i think i could take one easily with my predator

the pred does lack the low end grunt you would expect, I have heard a new carb turns that around, but I can still beat raptors both 660 and 700s. low end it can jump a few inches ahead but then I pass it up and it cannot catch up no matter how long the track gets. but on a track, its any mans game since vehicle performance is outweighed by rider skill in any type of race besides drag.
i also own a predator.. and really happy with it for its price and power it has nothing to comper to raptor or any other.. really .. i have friends that own yfz trx n kfx. all 450 and costed them a fortune and im still in top with them.. jaja!!
naw mann your wrong the pred has massive torge, the praptor has a slow start. and the pred ripps on top. the only time a raptor could have a chance is in the mid range!!!

Just bought a preditor 500 today and im in love!! I know a suzuki Z400 aint suppose to be as fast but I blew by my brothers suzuki like he was standing still tonight! So I'm wondering, how's the raptor handle snow??? I've got my 04 sportsman 500 ho, and I've gone through 2 feet of water, 1.5 feet of PURE mud, not the dirty water stuff, and close to 2 feet of snow. Without a snorkle or gettin stuck, if I had a snorkle, I'd put mine up to the handle bars in it, can your raptor do that???

If I miss a shift He'll win SOMETIMES and he races in actual competitions.

Why do you think they make skid plates for raptors? You must know nothing about a raptor or you would feel like an idiot for making that comment..... Raptors are all-around quads, and are actually made for the trails.
You said it yourself, raptors are made for the trails, that is what the skid plates are for, to keep from fuking things up underneath the quad if you happen to hit a tree stump or rock, not to trun a sport quad into a 4x4.
Raptors happen to be versatile quads that are able to do multiple things, not just trails. Btw, skid plates are after-market... not stock. And those skid plates do just fine when I take them in the trials, I have gone mud bogging and trail racing against 4x4's with my quad.
I know they're versatile quads. I wanted one when I got my predator, but I coldn't pass up the deal on it. I'm just saying that predators actually are geared fairly high. You said your friends have some preds? If you get on one, hit the throttle low in any gear other than 1st, you'll see what I'm talking about. Part of it is due to the drinking straw the pred breathes through, and the corked up exhaust, but they are still geared high.
actually the raptor make it pretty bad in the mud.. just search for it here on youtube.. some mud.. a raptor 700 comes trying to drive there but get stuck for long time... the sportsman comes and drive around the raptor laughing... the guy on the raptor just stand like "WTF how did he?"

lets not forget how much better they go over the rough stuff too! my 500 is like butter over woops and any other rough terrain,,the big kowee kfx isnt too bad,but raptors will knock your fillings loose..preditors are just way smoother.
i have a 06 TLD preditor.and my buddy who just bought a 08 700 rappy cant keep up , he's piped it- and installed the trick bigger fuel module in it since its fuel injected.and i still walk all over him. and he cant stand it! lol . mine runs perfect after all i put it thru- change the oil and thats it.never had the plug out.maybe in the next 8 months i might change the chain and sprockets.all that horse power is starting to wear them out- finally !
i know it drives the raptor guys nuts that the preds are quicker., even with them having mods. i am very impressed with how well these preds hold up to abuse to. i couldnt be happier with mine!
Alright, I own both...03 Predator 500 with a smaller rear sprocket, new exhaust (complete not just a cover), K&N filter, bored out air intake. A 08 Raptor 700R with the same mods. Hands down, the Raptor will beat my Predator from 2nd on up....sure the Predator takes off faster but that is only good enough for about 100-150 feet (noticed the video is only about 300 feet of track). My guess is the Predator in this video has same mods as mine and the Raptor is stock.
the track was 500 feet, my predator is bone stock except the rear tires are razr 2's and that 700 was bone stock as well. i can take the 700's off the line and the catch me in the mid range then i pull away on the top end.
yep exactly how it is everytime i race my cousins raptor....that's pretty much spot on....even when both quads have pipes its the same result. the 700 cam hold that quad back alot.
The 03's were the worst preds we ever built from 04-07 u cant beat with tha same mods on both qauds i used to have an 04 Tld Pred with a 586cc custom bore and it walked raptors from zero to topend then when they built the 525 ktm/polaris outlaw i sold the pred and built up the Outlaw which is way better then my pred but stock for stock id take the pred over the outlaw anyday and the Banshee is the best qaud yami built not the over rated raptor
Hummm. I just looked at a 09 Outlaw IRS to replace my 03 Pred. Bad idea??? comments very welcome as I don't want to drop 7K if I am going backwards. I also won't have the cash to upgrade anything....BTW with the bad economy how come I can't find any deals on new quads, $7K for an Outlaw seems crazy expensive.
7 for an outlaw is worth the price i got mine new for 4.5k with employee discount and the irs is great for the trails youll be happy with an outlaw n you wanna talk expensive Polaris's new sled the RUSH is an $87,000 machine b4 tax and thats gunna be over 100,000 with tax and lisencing and we got the go ahead to test the new preds Again which were put on the shelf because of a weak frame but with 700 n 800cc engines the frames have to be strong we havn't been informed when release is maybe 2011
we have great deals in my neighborhood. I payed 5999 for an 08 ltr 450 brand new. the same shop also sells owtlaws and raptors and they are both priced extremely low.
i love my predator but honestly i'm surprised to see the raptor lag that much behind...guess ya treed him like a mofo haha. when i raced an 07 raptor 700 this is what it looked like if i got him out of the hole. they are pretty much dead even until 3rd then my top end kicks in

sorry to burst your bubble, the raptor makes WAY MORE power on the low end than the predator. Don't think I'm a raptor owner crying about the vid, I've got an 07 TLD predator sitting in my garage. in 1st gear, yeah, it's pretty snappy on low end, but from 2nd gear up, it has nothing on the low end. It's powerband in the higher gears is similar to a 2 stroke, it comes on hard in the mid-range, and pulls like hell up to the top.
ive raced MULTIPLE raptors from 660's to 700's and not one was able to pull away on the bottom. the raptors have more mid then bottom guarnteed! the reel me in then on the top of each gear i will pull away then in 5th it really walks away from them

actually the raptor make it pretty bad in the mud.. just search for it here on youtube.. some mud.. a raptor 700 comes trying to drive there but get stuck for long time... the sportsman comes and drive around the raptor laughing... the guy on the raptor just stand like "WTF how did he?"

That would have to do with the kind of tires used, and what kind of upgrades it had. My Raptor 660 is a beast in the mud.

lol, i beat raptors top and bottom, the only place the get me is in mid range then i pull away in 4th and 5th. as for your riding comment, come down if your so great and well see how its down.

get a 450! i have a yamaha yfz 450, thoses are good 4 the track, but alot of people have different opinions on the yfz, i think there good, specialy the new 09s

lets not forget how much better they go over the rough stuff too! my 500 is like butter over woops and any other rough terrain,,the big kowee kfx isnt too bad,but raptors will knock your fillings loose..preditors are just way smoother.

i have a 06 TLD preditor.and my buddy who just bought a 08 700 rappy cant keep up , he's piped it- and installed the trick bigger fuel module in it since its fuel injected.and i still walk all over him. and he cant stand it! lol . mine runs perfect after all i put it thru- change the oil and thats it.never had the plug out.maybe in the next 8 months i might change the chain and sprockets.all that horse power is starting to wear them out- finally !

i know it drives the raptor guys nuts that the preds are quicker., even with them having mods. i am very impressed with how well these preds hold up to abuse to. i couldnt be happier with mine!

Alright, I own both...03 Predator 500 with a smaller rear sprocket, new exhaust (complete not just a cover), K&N filter, bored out air intake. A 08 Raptor 700R with the same mods. Hands down, the Raptor will beat my Predator from 2nd on up....sure the Predator takes off faster but that is only good enough for about 100-150 feet (noticed the video is only about 300 feet of track). My guess is the Predator in this video has same mods as mine and the Raptor is stock.

the track was 500 feet, my predator is bone stock except the rear tires are razr 2's and that 700 was bone stock as well. i can take the 700's off the line and the catch me in the mid range then i pull away on the top end.

yep exactly how it is everytime i race my cousins raptor....that's pretty much spot on....even when both quads have pipes its the same result. the 700 cam hold that quad back alot.

The 03's were the worst preds we ever built from 04-07 u cant beat with tha same mods on both qauds i used to have an 04 Tld Pred with a 586cc custom bore and it walked raptors from zero to topend then when they built the 525 ktm/polaris outlaw i sold the pred and built up the Outlaw which is way better then my pred but stock for stock id take the pred over the outlaw anyday and the Banshee is the best qaud yami built not the over rated raptor

Hummm. I just looked at a 09 Outlaw IRS to replace my 03 Pred. Bad idea??? comments very welcome as I don't want to drop 7K if I am going backwards. I also won't have the cash to upgrade anything....BTW with the bad economy how come I can't find any deals on new quads, $7K for an Outlaw seems crazy expensive.

7 for an outlaw is worth the price i got mine new for 4.5k with employee discount and the irs is great for the trails youll be happy with an outlaw n you wanna talk expensive Polaris's new sled the RUSH is an $87,000 machine b4 tax and thats gunna be over 100,000 with tax and lisencing and we got the go ahead to test the new preds Again which were put on the shelf because of a weak frame but with 700 n 800cc engines the frames have to be strong we havn't been informed when release is maybe 2011

i love my predator but honestly i'm surprised to see the raptor lag that much behind...guess ya treed him like a mofo haha. when i raced an 07 raptor 700 this is what it looked like if i got him out of the hole. they are pretty much dead even until 3rd then my top end kicks in

Hard to say. If a banshee is mostly stock, you'll smoke him. but a banshee is not a quad to fuck with if it's built and tuned right.

but i know that the predator would smoke a raptor when i was working for honda if i got bored i jumped on a predator and blasted arouns the car park them things are power houses, and the raptors not bad but the engines are prity slugish!

ya, the preds beat the 700's. the pred has more bottom then the 700 comes back on mid range and the predator has more top end as well. plus, my buddy on his 700 weighs 155 pounds and im 215 and i still walk away

sorry to burst your bubble, the raptor makes WAY MORE power on the low end than the predator. Don't think I'm a raptor owner crying about the vid, I've got an 07 TLD predator sitting in my garage. in 1st gear, yeah, it's pretty snappy on low end, but from 2nd gear up, it has nothing on the low end. It's powerband in the higher gears is similar to a 2 stroke, it comes on hard in the mid-range, and pulls like hell up to the top.

ive raced MULTIPLE raptors from 660's to 700's and not one was able to pull away on the bottom. the raptors have more mid then bottom guarnteed! the reel me in then on the top of each gear i will pull away then in 5th it really walks away from them
