My Dad did maintenance on F4s at the Niagara Falls air base back in 70s and early 80s. They switched to F-16s in 86 I believe. Used to love watching them land.

Worked on C&Ds WCS, SEA, SW USA. Always remember; F4 was a 'fleet interceptor' design; get there fast, in a straight line and shoot down bombers with rockets. Dog fights were not part of the plan. Asshole McNamera left out the gun.

Notice that carrier landing are a targeted crash, USAF landings aren't.

I was a Phantom Phixer a long time ago. Worked on the F-4 N and S.

VF-103, The Jolly Roger was cool but so was VF-143, The Pukin' Dogs.
