  • my husband & I just had part of that poem tattooed on ourselves. (in Latin)

This scene gutted me like a fish` first time I saw it, LOVE THIS FILM!

  • What a beautiful scene.

  • I love this poem, and this movie, but I don't really understand why he recites this poem here. His son has died: he's not lamenting his lost youth, he's lamenting his lost son. Can someone explain this to me?

  • @SisyphusRedeemed

His friend is breaking the tension of the father's pain by reciting the verse, as he did in the first few parts of the movie, assuring him that his son lived a grand life by no other choice but his own, and his father should accept that, and be proud.

  • @bigtrip18 Well done, well done. I totally agree, the first time I heard this poem in this scene, I was mesmorized by the beauty of the phrasing and his voice..so haunting. 4 yrs later I started writing poetry. I hope some day to be able to write something that has that kind of depth and flows so nicely. are you a writer? I gather by your name you appreciate existential philosphy...

  • What a movie, what a scene! On so many levels! But I have to say, it was so creepy I wouldn't care to see it again...it was perhaps too good at what it sought to convey....

  • Fantastic film.

  • this scene is hauntingly beautiful.

  • After he antes up you hear all their sighs, releasing their tension. Expert scene.

  • Very touching scene... Matt's look at the end says more than any line he could have said.

  • 10/10
