  • faaaaaaade ooooout agaaaaaaaaain

  • we want to be dogs after all ; )

  • "It drains me, and it shakes me, and hurts like hell every time I play it, looking out at thousands of people cheering and smiling, oblivious to the tragedy of its meaning, like when you're going to have your dog put down and it's wagging its tail on the way there." - Thom Yorke on Street Spirit (Fade Away)

  • @ssrunner I love Yorke, but, Christ, that quote is pretentious.

  • @nickn328 Interesting point. Can one rejoice at things (if songs are things) that are both beautiful and sad?

  • @ssrunner honestly it's been posted a thousand times before.

  • youtube needs an "I just realized the emptiness of life through thom yorke's voice" button.

  • Excellent

  • A little button saying like doesn't do this justice.

  • Thom York is just so confident and modest in what he does and how he does it

  • superduperhighereargasm...!!!!!!!!!!

  • The sticker is of Astroboy, a Japanese anime series that him and Thom are both fans of.

  • why does johnny has that cartoon on his guitar? .. does it symbolize something?

  • why does johnny has that cartoon on his guitar? .. does it symbolize something?

  • this voice...

  • this voice....

  • GooD '

  • 13 people sucked on Justin Bieber's micro dick.

  • awesome!

  • Omfg... That was so intense

  • I think Thom's vocals are great on this vid.

  • @CHELSEA9636 How can you say that?! You poor, poor sheltered soul. Get this person some more Radiohead!

  • no words can describe my feelings right now.

  • esto es lo mas parecido a musica hoy en dia

    mmmmmmmmmmm

  • immerse your soul in LOVE

  • its funny that nearly every radioheadfan hates every other band but radiohead

  • @daniiiiiii68

I like many bands, and I love Radiohead.

It's my favorite, but there are many, MANY more just as great.

  • Tom t'es un dieu ! Encore un morceau qui restera gravé en moi...

    Грохот, шум, пыль и благодать

    Ехали по улицам трамваи

  • Shivers... Awesome!!

  • I'm crying.

  • @CHELSEA9636 you are a cunt.

  • i fucking love this band

  • este conierto esta de poca madre

  • Great Voice, very melacholic song

  • the singer is smoked xD

  • Oasis are shit! Radiohead are brilliant!

  • @stromzo06 A lot of Noel's solo performances are similar to this controlled and elegant style. Liam ruined Oasis in later years; and sort of in general.

  • @stromzo06 Oh sorry, wasn't aware there were only two bands in this world...

  • @stromzo06 Apart from the fact, that I'm also not a big fan of Oasis i think trying to make something look better by make something else look worth is really dumb.

  • Amazing amazing!!!! Thome and Radiohead love you

  • Probably one of the most depressing songs in existence.

  • never knew this tune til i heard the stan street spirit on you tube. now i adore it. especially the muzic

  • @CHELSEA9636 Yes, they are shite!

  • fuCk, I can't sleep! są moim nałogiem? Matko, jakie mam porycie, chyba nie moge słuhac tak dobrej muzyki bo cos się ze mną dzieje! NIech przyjada do Polski! Od 4 nocy nie mogę przez nich spać, bo wolę posłuchać muzyki którą tworzą, najgorsze, że rano trzeba wstac do pracy...:/

  • @WhoTheGreat YES IT DOES!

  • BRILLIANCE

  • I see thom got one of those home hair cut machines. I did the same when I first got mine, it looked like it had been cut with a knife and fork, but you'll get used to it. Great song.

  • great tune

  • "Immerse your soul in love". That says it all.

  • damn!, i couldn't give six stars..

  • wonderfull, goes deep into the core of our escence, pure brilliance

  • This breaks my heart. Thom has said that this song is extremely difficult for him to sing. Not because of the difficult high notes but because of the subject matter. The song is about looking at the devil and knowing that he will always win, and when he watches a crowd of people hear him sing about ultimate ineviatable defeat he can barely keep his body in composure, so cut him some slack.

  • Really, is that why he closes his eyes when he sings ?

  • @mstasko7 that's actually true, look this song up on wikipedia

  • @mstasko7 fuck you

  • @guslopez12

    your mother.

  • @guslopez12 your mother.

  • no band tops Radiohead

  • sacred truth

  • @prutserprutser except from muse;)

  • @fities1 please tell me ur kidding

  • @CTeamAwsome why? both are great.

  • @fities1 thank you actually u finally got me some thumbs up thanks bro!

  • acústico muito foda

  • ah the days before mobile phones with video and flash!

  • really?

this is better than the studio version. feels so pure and full of meaning.

  • This song is extremely difficult to sing. The guitar part is really simple, but in my opinion, Fade Out by far the most difficult to sing because the chorus doesn't allow for breathing when you get to the high notes.

Let's cut Thom some slack, people. He might not have the same pipes as he did 15 years ago (who does??), and this song was likely done as a 2nd encore.

  • I agree. The guy is a legend and deserves to be recognised as such like.

  • @morningflow for me high and dry is the most difficult

  • @morningflow this is also the most emotional song for him to sing live. apparently, he its physically and emotionally draining for him to sing it in front of a crowd.

  • @morningflow

I think it is not hard to sing it if u're a bit talented.. but no one can sing it like thom does... obviously

  • @morningflow i understand this is late in his set and he's emotionally drained but personally find this song relativly easy to sing

  • @morningflow

Lets not forget the emotional drain this takes on him aswell.

  • @morningflow What you said is very true. However, I think Thom is one of those singers who is still great. His vocals on the In Rainbows tracks are awesome for have been singing non stop for the past 15+ years. I think Thom has incredible technique which has payed off for him in the long run.

  • @morningflow if it wasn't for those high bits in the verses i'd have it nailed. fuck they're annoying

  • I saw a Radiohead concert 4 years ago, alone, and couldn't sleep for 4 days at all.....cried a lot.....this song is sadness infinitum...

  • Yeah right, better not listen to it when brokenhearted or grieving. :'(

  • The drums play a key part in this song and yet you take them out and its even more powerful. Guess thats the beauty of radiohead!

  • i nearly cried...

  • If I remember right, the tabs are just appregios of an asus4, to an aminor, to asus2. Not too high on my music vocabulary, my apologies. That's most of the song at least...

  • then an eminor and a C =D thort i mite add

  • this is bloody brilliant , but please does someone has the tab of what greenwood is doing ¿... i just found thoms :) , thanks

  • i know they only tab thoms, they think jonnys isnt important

  • yeah...i hate that... i just saw a cover of jonny guitar at this song in youtube i asked for the tab...ill let you know if the guy answear me ;)

  • cheers maate ;)

  • I know it sucks, Jonny virtually makes this band, he's just given creative license to OWN on stage.

  • gogolplex74: then don't listen to it! dumbass!

  • I Agree.

  • I hate oasis!

  • What you on about dickface!!

Nah, but seriously, I like actually like this take although I agree that Thom's voive isn't what it once was. Everyone to their own own opinion though.

    ; )

  • I think Thom's voice is better these days, but I agree that this isn't nearly his best vocal performance of this song. Calling it awful is definitely a bit far.

  • Aerowing, I'm not sure which comment of mine you're replying to but I never called this awful. It's beautiful.

As for Thom's voice I think it's spot on here. I even like the shakey bit at 1.13. I don't think his voice is as good these days though.

  • I was responding to you when I said I thought his voice was better these days. The rest of my comment was more directed at drnutmeg, who you were responding to in your comment. I mostly just didn't want to write 2 separate comments.

  • OMG Radiohead wakes on me emotions which I never thought I can have

And Thom has beautiful voice here!

  • I enjoy the sound of this song, but I feel ashamed that I don't appreciate the songs meaning, despite looking at the lyrics and trying to understand the emotion from Thom.

  • I have something that will help you understand. Accept my friend request.

  • No one will understand the song the way Thom does, because he wrote it.

Or .. He continues to deny he wrote it, because it's something 'otherwordly'. Like, one of the most evil songs he has even written. He says he has to disconnect from the meaning and words of the song from himself, or else he'd "break down" when they perform it.

The 1st time i heard this song, i loved it. Then more and more i was so frightened of it, which is silly, but it was scary. Then i read that about thom :/

  • i know what you mean, try to search "Street Spirit" at google. and take the wikipedia site. there you can read about how thom think about it, and you will see it in another perspective. ;)

  • You may be able to play this song, but its easy to copy! You try to create a simple masterpiece like this...

Like BenJoelHoare said. "Simplicity can make a song sound amazing, where complexity would ruin it."

  • Moving on form the riff debate, has anyone ever seen Thom's wife, Rachel?

I'm starting to believe all their wives are made up.

  • thom hates his family being papped and shit like that

  • Who cares is the riff is easy? 'House Of The Rising Sun' is easy. Both are amazing songs. Just because it's not that hard to play yourself doesn't make it rubbish. Simplicity can make a song sound amazing, where complexity would ruin it.

  • If the riff is easy, where's your record deal?

  • there is a lot of people capable to play this... i can do it... but not like him... one of the bests expressions ever... long live the man...

  • my nine year old son says he loves this song! he gets his good taste in music from me! yes!

  • is the best thing i have ever seen

  • Incredible, Play this at my funeral mom

  • it takes skill to play that riff and sing at the same time i cant do it

  • if its so easy, why isnt thom doing it? hes just strumming chords

  • Thom is not just strumming chords...he's clearly picking.

  • he is doing it. And singing at the same time.

But Honestly, who the fuck derides a piece of music for it's easiness? The best music and compositions in the world were easy and simple! btw this was at brad

  • I found it was pretty hard at first, but if you practice it you'll get it pretty easy.

  • Why don't you go ahead and cover it??? You do Radiohead well, especially Fake Plastic Trees. The cinnamon and pizza rolls have got to go...

  • just close you eyes and let the song take you to places you have never seen fit in your heart to go...it takes you there and it takes a while to come back

  • yeah a place i like very much. beyond words!!!! the best, the very best!

  • captivating...I didn't move a muscle while watching this video. I wish I could have been there to watch them perform. Their songs would be lovely even in A'cappella.

  • lol @ the person who thumbed down my last comment

  • almost!

  • lol @ radiohead fanboys who thumb down any negative comment about thom yorke, even if its true.

  • this song is him at his best, most profound artist and band of the 90s proud to call em british - awesome!!!

  • This song is difficult to listen to...I wonder how he feels performing it.

  • in an interview, he says that he didn't think of this song, it needed to come out and just happened to be through him, and he wishes that wasn't so...very creepy stuff

  • he said he and the band detach themselves for this song in particular

  • i remember reading somewhere that this was a hard song for thom to play and sing at the same time

  • yeah that wouldnt surprise me... iv tried on numerous occasions and it's fairly tough!

  • I think he's more referring to emotionally rather than just the difficulty in playing and singing, it's a very creepy and sad song.

Amazing in every shape and form though.

  • thats perfect.what can ı say about this song..just listen....absouletly perfect....

  • lol @ 1:13

  • yeah he fucks up... but so did god... XD

  • "That's what they all look like, and it breaks my heart. I wish that song hadn't picked us as its catalysts, and so I don't claim it. It asks too much. I didn't write that song."-Thom Yorke

  • "It's why we play it towards the end of our sets. It drains me, and it shakes me, and hurts like hell every time I play it, looking out at thousands of people cheering and smiling, oblivious to the tragedy of its meaning, like when you're going to have your dog put down and it's wagging its tail on the way there."

  • "All of our saddest songs have somewhere in them at least a glimmer of resolve. Street Spirit has no resolve. It is the dark tunnel without the light at the end. I can't believe we have fans that can deal emotionally with that song. That's why I'm convinced that they don't know what it's about."

  • SO nervous! one of my favorite songs of them

  • thom's voice is chilling...

he's such an awesome musician, and a brilliant mind

  • I couldn't agree more!!

  • tis is amazing so great i love it

  • This song has not a glimmer of hope.

    So Deep, i love it.

  • Thom's voice is amazing and haunting...like the wind

  • a poetic comparison

  • Was anyone else frightened out of their wits when he opened his eyes? I love this song.

  • Me!!!!! aaa!!! u.u

  • Dang he holds the notes so long... it's crazy! And it just sounds awesome.

  • No power without drums, but nothing can keep it away from kicking butts!

  • just wondering what shampoo does the guitar guy use, looks so smooth...

  • fade out again

  • he lookes better now than he did in the nineties

  • Comment removed

  • Such an intimate show. Lucky ones. This song is so amazing. Love this band. Surely a big influence in my music. Anyone interested check my band's version of this song (with a girl singing) on my channel. Peace.
