  • Also for horse stance dont your feet have to be straight forward?

  • So why are you using weapons?

  • @PainfulPaintballers What kind of question is that

  • Just to tell you, but doesn't karate mean *emptey handed* just sayin, but im only 12 and only ranked up once. :) but i have been in for about half a year.

  • I always end up stabbing my self with min

  • These actually hurt A LOT when you get hit by them, which you wouldnt expect because they are so small XD

  • @andrew33323 that's WHY they hurt so much...

you're getting the same amount of force but concentrated/compressed into a much smaller area so there is more pain for that area...

  • I'm no sai expert, but the blocking is bothering me. Isn't the shaft supposed to be flush to your forearm so that whatever you block doesn't slap the sai against your flesh?

  • weapons? pfffff

  • I need to buy some of those

  • Shotokan does not teach weapons. See comments my channel, go from there. Expert village?? Hmmm, maybe you want to re-think this.

  • And this guy should be an advanced shotokan black belt? Ah ah!!! ...lol...

  • @kobayashimaruaikiken hehehehhehe he must be kidding

  • Looool. This guy looks like an ametuer.

  • this guy has a lot to learn

  • @Tinkeruk2010 piss off tinkerbell

  • @bookydani

Don't hate me cos you ain't me fagcake.

  • Oh, this just makes me uncomfortable in its vagueness - if you feel like finding a more precise and experienced practitioner, look up YouTube clips I have posted by Shihan Nishiuchi and add in sai (or nunchaku or bo, or a half dozen other weapons).

  • a man weapon i called is a GUn a blow ur toasted >> a sai vs gun who won ^^

  • @Novarosez- The sai are not sharp. They are three pronged pieces of metal. You can grab and release any of the prongs all day without cutting yourself.

  • i love sharp weapons

  • @Novarosez

These are not that of sharp edge or point. They have rather blunted and sometimes rounded like points.

The prongs served in ancient times to block and trap other weapons lets say a Katana for example. You would catch it between the prongs twist the wrist to trap it.Hard to explain to a novice. But I think thats a good example to start.

  • @Jahleim72Amaya Yha your right. alot of people think these were like daggers, due to media like Electra but sais or Zais (two sias) were artually more like twin pointed battons, used more for defence and trapping weapons then actually full on offense.

  • @redith137 @redith137

I find most movies distort most Martial Arts on a whole.

But thats not deliberate,People want to see something them movies will provide, but unfortunately when its Martial Arts movies alot of people like the idea of being like that person they saw but are actually misinformed by the film.

  • i was wandering what martial arts this is is it a special 1 or is it just a random karate becoz im gunna start doin 1 with a weopon but dunno wot to use any ideas??

  • well most karate or tae kwon do dojos use weapons training when you get to green belt

  • these weapons are from the weapon family classed as a martial art called "okinawan ko-budo"

  • @TheRealMilfMan dude use a katana

  • @TheRealMilfMan @TheRealMilfMan

If you want weapon training for defense reasons then chose something like Jujutsu or Aikido.Karate is good to but finding a School whom have weapon training as part of its curriculum.

If you want weapon training for self development...

Look out for an Iaido Ryu in your area it will develope and refine you greatly.Everyone will see a different you.Trust me.

  • good video! The sai is one of my favorite weapons. My primary weapon is the nunchaku, but I like to use a lot of different weapons.

  • Well in some martial arts the black with a white stripe means 8th degree black belt and white with a black stripe is 9th degree or grand master, but I think this guys belt is just wearing out.

  • can someone tell me the significance of having the white outline on the blackbelt?

  • The belt has a cotton inner and silk outside, the silk wears off after hunderds and hundreds of ties and training sessions exposing the cotton underneath. It can sometimes show how much training someone has done, but often people buy new blackbelts so it generally doesn't mean anything.

  • @Toxeh I agree.

It can also be a statement as to lenght of tears comitment too...But yeah it does'nt officially represent anything in particular to rank or status..Other than comitment really.

  • @Toxeh I've heard of people deliberately wearing out their belts with sandpaper etc to make it look old, my sensei's sensei has been training longer than this guy (he must be about 60+) and wears his original belt and it doesn't look like that piece of rag!

  • @Mangafairy Your sensei's seinsei's belt might be a different material thought, Cotton ones never fade in colour as they're usually black throughout and look less worn. I've had a few blackbelts, I had 2 satin ones which turned into rags in a couple of years (I had 2 because I grew out of my first one but both have faded badly), I now have a silk one which has lasted a lot longer, it also depends on the make, Hirota and Tokaido have deluxe belts which last a lot longer.

  • Comment removed

  • @Toxeh oops! i replied and accidentally removed my comment.... :/ anyways-> it's the same type of belt, not a sash, it's like a really thick thick material and woven, i believe it's made out of cotton/polyester like this guy's they take aaaages to wear out, and it's not fraying like it would if it was weak or anything, when close you can also see the double layers which is why im sure it's the same :) but its ok its not that important

  • @Mangafairy Ahhh you didn't quite understand what I was saying. I meant that the material that covers the thick inner layer. So with mine I have a thick layer of white material, like really thick canvas, which then has silk over the top. Sorry I should have explained myself better. But yea, I hope people don't actually deliberately wear their belts out with sand paper!

  • @Toxeh some people will even leave it out side, or "saw" it against a tree, to get that lok, some people just have really old belts that are speacial to nthem and thats fine but really if your belt looks that trashed buy a new one and hang that one up some where safe.

  • good stuff, great info!

  • good informational video for ty posting it

  • That belt looks about 25 years old...

  • Please, call this anything but shotokan karate.

  • I agree ^^

  • thanks for the post 5/5

  • uhm... bigj41004, fyi, this is an informational video

    not an asskicking elektra movie

this is step by step details about how to start with the basics

its how to train with sais

go beat off to some other martial arts video

people like you on youtube ruin videos

    why waste your time??

    good video, good detail

you have good stances and form

  • No offence sir, but you should organize your ideas a bit more to prevent loss of interest, and add a bit more action to your vids. a sparring match or two wouldn't hurt either. 0.0

Don't be afraid to show off. Show people what a sai wielder can do.

    (I REALLY love the sai)

Looking forward to your next vid.

  • i wish he would quit talking so freakin much and just use the goddamned things...

  • LOL!!
