This may be a stupid question but, are you saying that these rifles can't uncocked? If this is so, do you shoot a pellet through thus removing the oil or DRY fire a good quality air rifle?
@nobull60 For spring pellet rifles that cannot be decocked, we recommend that you use at lease 2 felt cleaning pellets to remove excess oil. Push them through with a cleaning rod or fire them into a safe direction with a safe backstop. We recommend that you never dry fire a spring rifle. This can cause serious damage to the spring, piston, and/or seals.
@ATERIFA yea, i think they forgot to mention that you CAN'T dry-fire your break-barrel spring gun or you will DAMAGE IT. Make sure you put a pellet in there and fire it into a safe place if you cock your gun to clean it.
Usually, I just grab vaseline, lube the rod up and jam it in the hole. Works for me every time. Danny said "take our cloth and waaiipe the bottum of yer ackthun off" what da fuck I put a few drops a SILLYcone one dat mofo. put a dab of vaseline on da skirts for some diesel power
Usually, I just grab vaseline, lube the rod up and jam it in the hole. Works for me every time. Danny said "take our cloth and waaiipe the bottum of yer ackthun off"
I did this, and right afterward shot it... perhaps that was a bad idea?
I've only performed this maintenance on my rifle twice, and both times it dieseled when i fired the first shot. Now it was kind of cool because it totally made the pellet brake the sound barrier with its extra punch. But, I'm still worried of what damage it may have caused. =[
Btw, yes... I only put one drop of RWS "CHAMBER" lube in the cylinder. I wonder if I just need to let it set for awhile before shooting?
I have a rws mod.25 I don't know much about it but was wondering if you mite. Any info will help. Mainly can I mount a scope on it & is it a good one?
Thanks. just the information i was looking for. One question regarding the brush. Is it copper/metal ?. because i have a cleaning kit with a copper, plastic and a cotton brush. And im a little anxious about use the copper one.
Could you do a "cleaning an out-of-the-box-airrifle" video too ? And perhaps a disassemble, cleaning and lube and assemble video.
Not necassary at all. But everyone has his own cleaning method.
In my opinion oil has no place in the compression chamber. The only part where oil gets near on my air rifles is the outside. But the main spring should be greased, as well as the piston and around seal. NO grease in front of the piston seal. Under high compression grease can burn the seal. Also really a small amount of grease should be put in the compression chamber. This way an air rifle is ready for at least 10 years use.
@guggsdugrass The guy on the left is a normal fixture in most businesses. He's the one watching the skilled workers doing all the work. He's the one who says "your break is 15 minutes-not 16 minutes". He is the overhead that usually cripples companies, he is a supervisor and virtually useless.
@Chopslord We recommend RWS chamber oil. (Umarex USA website, search for "oil" on the lefthand side, first result that says "RWS Airgun accessories") The oil rag they are using is a patch designed specifically for airguns. That would likely be the preferred type to use. (I have seen people use all kinds of different rags though)
I'd like to know why the RWS series of air rifles are so damned expensive. I know that they are a quality air rifle but come on. I can buy a handgun cheaper and some half descent rifles for what the RWS commands. Thought long but just can't justify the expense for an air rifle. Gonna buy a Glock instead.
@paininthe10 You hit the nail on the head: Quality. There are less expensive air rifles on the market for those concerned about pricing, but RWS has chosen to stay in the high end of the airgun market. If you are looking for something less expensive, there are plenty of non-RWS options available.
@UmarexAir Aw and that's my delema. I want the best but the price is steep. They have a limited lifetime warranty as well I believe. I will probably convince myself into buying one in the future.
@ImNewToThis100 We do not know the contents, so we cannot recommend that lube. In general, avoid any lube with petroleum in it on any type of an airgun.
@frankvanoostendorp No, it is petroleum based, so it could cause dieseling. (igniting in the barrel) Also, it could cause swelling of some of the internal seals, and decrease the life of the gun. Stay away from WD-40 for air gun maintenance.
@elbarto138 essencially the same, although you will need to push the jag and cleaning rod from the muzzle to the piston, carefully not to hit any parts in the action.
well leaving it cocked for about 5 minutes is about as long as I would leave it cocked... But as a safety rule.... Your not supposed to cock the gun until your ready to shoot.
@matt14x thanks 4 the info, cause i was planning on getting a crosman storm xt later on this year, i'll look for some next time i'm at wal-mart, THANKS!
Can you tell me WHERE ON EARTH I CAN FIND THIS NON PETROULEUM BASED OIL W/OUT ORDERING IT ONLINE, it would be a great help as i'm planning to get a crosman storm xt sometime and would like to keep it properly maintained, Thanks!
If you are talking about the chamber lube, you should only buy oil that is specifically made for spring piston airguns, since it has a very high flashpoint. Using the wrong oil can cause more harm than good, ie, dieseling, seal deterioration, bad accuracy. Order something else when you order and the shipping cost won't feel so bad.
Do you guys have a video in how to clean a co2 air rifle or is it the same thing and where could I get those materials the video is very helpful but I dont want to do it in my 200 dollar rifle
Hey, i have a bottle of gamo oil, it says general purpose, but I saw there are lots of different oils for each part of the riffle, so I was wondering, where should i apply this Gamo Oil: Spring, Chamber or Barrel???
DO NOT recommend for air chamber. Barrel ok and probably mainspring. We usually tell customers not to use it only RWS to ensure it does not cause damage to the seals.
Not true...BEEMAN says the cleaning pellets are designed to be shot out of the barrel..that's why you use TWO pellets together in order to maintain resistance.
BEEMAN also suggests using dry MOLY powder on the mainspring, or MOLY grease..NEVER oil. Only oil the piston deal, and the breech seal. Don't use oil in the barrel except when storing the gun.. oil is the gunk that you are cleaning out in the first place!
for everyone that has watched this that didnt know how to assemble a air gun yes you can push the pellets threw but the products specify to fire it not to poke it threw because that will leave dirt led etc in there and when storing a multipump air gun to maintain the seal leave 1 pump of air
This may be a stupid question but, are you saying that these rifles can't uncocked? If this is so, do you shoot a pellet through thus removing the oil or DRY fire a good quality air rifle?
