Is it a surprise? Has anyone seen these friggen rides and the people who operate them? I dont think most of these carnies could operate a stereo instruction manual.
Perhaps it's best to find a ride that won't break down on you? But I do agree knowing that if the ride is put together right and that it has passed all inspections, accidents still happen. Not to mention the wearing and tearing of rides overtime, so only the experts know how rides are managed and operated. To say the least, try to ride attractions under risks of yourself and your people.
@Princ3sss3mily- I worked for a carnival for close to 10 years. We were inspected by state, local, and insurance inspectors on a constant basis. We were subjected to random drug screenings and if you failed you were fired immediately with no warnings. Our rides had to beinspected every morning, following a checklist, and if you skipped a single step you were fired. Most carnivals are safe whether you like to believe it or not. However, accidents do happen.
Why would anyone let their child on a carnival ride? Those things have dangerous and unstable written all over them. They take them down and set them up all the time, all it takes is one missed bolt. It's unfortunate, but these things happen all the time at carnivals/fairs.
@Princ3ss3mily you are actually more likely to get hurt at a stationary amusement park than a traveling one traveling are inspected daily while sationary are inspected yearly
idiots why are you always complaining about every fair ride accident. its just one of those things you gotta deal with!!! how many guys die in car accidents how many ships sink and how many planes fall down??? and i bet all you guys know how many wars we had.
The thing that makes carnival rides the most dangerours is the fact there on the road every month. They mechanics that check the rides for any lose bolts or anything like that are not going there jobs. Therefore rides should only be built well in one spot and shall never to be on the go! It's not safe and more and more accidents are starting to happen do to this!
@ThePikuxx In order to make the yellow arms lift up, they are pulled downwards like a teeter-totter near the center by a hydraulic piston. Between the yellow arms and the piston though is a wheel, where the outside of the wheel can spin independently of the inside. All the yellow swing arms are attached to the outside and the piston is attached with nuts to the inside. On this day, the nuts popped off, which caused the wheel to slide off the piston, sending everyone crashing to the ground.
this should not be possible! they have to take some measures to just avoid a total collapse.
okey, accidents happen, but this really shouldn't be possible, it has just plummeted to the ground. they should make an emergency brake that prevent's the arms falling down. even if electricity and oil pressure fails there has to be something that saves the lives of the vulnerable passengers on this ride...
This happened on june 2nd in avon colorado they were testing the rides and the rides arms collapsed durning roatiation and now it's on the trailer just sitting there
Why was that ride still even running? ive heard loads of stories that it has broke down loads of times and have you seen the state of the charis and everything?!
Dude if I was on that I would probably never ever go to the carnival for a very long time I would be to scared is that why the yoyo isn't at the billings Montana carnival !!??
i read your description and you talk about 3 flown out by helicopters and 23 leaving with minor injuries you also said there were 27 what happened to that one other child
i hate fucking swings at amusment parks theres always trees near it and you get wacked in the head by a branch or bird shit in your face....but best of all spinning it :)
@DeadlyBagel63....i don't know where you get your information or if your just pulling it out your ass but traveling amusement rides are 100% safer than permanent amusement park rides. Traveling rides get taken down and put pack up and inspected and reinspected every week and then spot inspected every day while they are up. Permament Amusement rides only get in inspected annually or quarterly.
@welder12285 Well sometimes...."Twenty-one children were hurt in May 2008 when the spinning Yo-Yo chair ride collapsed at the Calaveras County Fair. After a 10-month investigation, the California Department of Industrial Relations determined the ride had not been properly maintained, saying a damaged washer failed to hold a pair of nuts in place, causing the arms to crash. ".....Just saying
@welder12285 In the settlement news that came out today it says, This ride had not been serviced in 10 years. So the only thing they were doing was putting it up and tearing it down.
That was realy scary, my best friend Sarah was one of the three that was life flighted...some bar landed on her chest and she couldn't breath, and she broke her tail bone from the fall...two years later and she still at times can't breathe to good!
I think they should be more cautious when it comes to carnival rides...a few hours before that happend many people herd some wierd noises comming from the ride, and the carnies did nothing!!!!!
I ride at my carnival called the scorpion broke yesterday it's a ride that's has three arms with five tubs on each arms that spin around and one of the arms broke so all the tubs detached and went flying thank god no one died but two kids were seriously injured and six others went to the hospital.
i worked for the carnival in this clip "midway of fun" and i built their zipper it was my soul responsibility to build, tear down and maintain it to the best of my ability, the model of zipper i worked on had to be a quarter off bubble off so it wouldn't tip forward "well that's how i was told and showed how to build it and that's how i did it" but i've been told otherwise by so called carnies
The Zipper can't collapse. It CAN however.. tip over, or throw one of the tubs (cages that you are locked in), The door hinges have known to break, trowing the door (and riders) Witch is why in California if the Tubs have 2 separate door hinges they must have a safety cable around the hinge. Any Zipper manufactured after Y2K has one complete hinge along the whole door. the Previous hinges have expiration dates, and must be replaced every 3-4 years.
