When Obama begins to talk about SCRAPPING the current income tax code COMPLETELY and starting over, I'll begin to take him seriously. Everyone (Democrat, Republican, independent, liberal, conservative, moderate, libertarian) knows that the current income tax code is utter NONSENSE and tied to literally EVERYTHING!
EVERYTHING!
THIS would be the best way to fix our country because it addresses everything.
It's time for the FairTax or even better - Ron Paul's plan.
We have to demand more from our government (federal, state & local). We also have to hold companies & organization accountable for fraud and send jobs over seas. They turned their backs on the folks who made them rich in the first place. Get more involved, make better choices & understand issues when you vote. Some of you are qualified to run for office and take the easy route. RUN, the idiots we elected in the past don't deserve to hold those seats. FIGHT DAMIT FIGHT !!!

These are great ideas. I especially like knowing exactly where my tax dollars are going. I hope they make it interactive as well giving us a chance to comment and debate spending.
This is what CHANGE looks like! Yes, this is what I voted for--accountability and transparency in how my taxes are spent. A courageous move to finally end the selfish, territorial earmarks that undermine the budget process. There is a better way. Thank you, Barack. See you on Jan. 20, 2009. asii
music to my ears. accountability and transparency. you've done a remarkable job with it on changedotgov. if you do the same thing with this economic stimulus program, i know a lot of people like me will thank you for it.
Interestingly enough the European Commission has its own Financial Transparency System backed up by an online database, which is publicly available online, so that various EU funding schemes can be tracked. Estonia is a pioneering example of online public oversight for many branches of government, and may be worth taking a look at, for prior art.
Even as a non-American, watching these videos of a calm, collected and well-spoken president elect speaking about healing a broken country rather than breaking others is a heartening sight.
I honestly didn't know where he was going with all of this when he was running. Now that he has been elected he really blew my mind with how much and how fast he is working.
I am a little worried. If he is telling the truth I doubt he will get a lot of support in DC
It is good that President Elect Obama is on top of things. I like being informed about how things are going on a regular basis. Using youtube to broadcast this information is a great idea.
hello mr president elect. on January 20th my high school will cease sll regular activities to see your inaguration. i believe that my principal was a supportor of yours this brings a question to my mind. if John McCain were elected would we have a day off?
What is that sound in the background, a typewriter?
Regardless, the president elect is absolutely correct. There must be more oversight. I am personally aware of millions of dollars wasted regularly. Much of this is not debatable, spent on programs which do not serve their stated purpose.
Earmarks are a tricky issue. I hope that Obama has a more subtle solution than an outright ban in mind.
I have faith you Obama! I know in my heart you'll do everything you can to bring change to this nation that's why I worked so hard to help you get elected!
I Trust President Elect Obama, and his team that he has Assembled for us. I call them "The American Dream Team." 1 : to bring together (as in a particular place or for a particular purpose)
hilariousity right but if you have a problem it with Bush not Obama he has not power yet not till the 1/20/09 then blame him lol
