Glad that the boy's snowman friend didn't melt in this story...in fact, they were lookin' very puzzled about if the boy gotten the right gift...oh, well
I wish I could be Father Christmas deliver all the presents to the children & stuff give them what they want for Christmas I could have a Mince Pie & a bottle of any soft drinks for when I go to their houses.
@ LadyOfTheShadows19... I think the film your talking about is called "Grandad" the old guys not Santa its her Grandfather.. still an absolute childhood classic tho, and so sad at the end.. I cry ever time!
@nicog79 Thanks for posting this up.. I had it on VHS as a kid and watched it all the time but lost the tape growing up somewhere.. brings back really happy memmories so a heartfelt Thankyou for posting! :oD
really??? whats with the american fear of alcohol. The idea that santa doesnt drink is so ridiculous. As a kid we always left a glass of whiskey for santa. And the implication was that he'd receive one in damn near every house.... Guess they don't do that in the states. And they stereotype us as the boring ones. To me Christmas means drinking so you can't seperate the two. Lets face it... santa would be fuckin wrecked on Christmas Eve
I just found a version of this on the net and it was the american version. Talk about sanitised. It like hollywood wiped all over my childhood memories with disinfectant. In that version he has a posh accent, is happy not grumpy, doesn't drink and doesn't show his bum!
YES! THE SNOWMAN LIVES ON!!! Oh, all those years of crying for nothing :D. Although, I think that kid is taking everything for granted now, he was just like, "Hi Santa, now where's my present?!"
@minicolster Oh yes I noticed that. You'd think he'd be overjoyed to have his snowman back. That would be present enough for me!! Chrismas isn't even about presents, anyways! Jeesh!
I love raymond briggs The snowman and Father christmas they are so cozy i have the dvd of both and watch it only on christmas eve every yr because its so cozy i dont want to ruin it on a normal day. I love it so much.
How amazing is Father Christmas!!! We used to watch it every Christmas without fail its soo good to see it again! Thanks so much for uploading this I can't wait to get back to Scotland now! I never noticed the name of the pub before but its in Aberdeen where my family are all from! Love it even more :D Merry Christmas All! xxx
Good day to all of my fellow Christians, firstly my apology for being out of topic. I came here to remind you people that the judgment day has been starting already. I urge you my fellow Christians to depart from all form of unchristian conduct lest you be found not worthy to inter the kingdom of God in the Day of Execution. Please do not misinterpret my activity as spam; I did not do it for that purpose.
can I just say as a 23 year old who should have grown out of such things, I actually feel quite emotional that the snowman and the boy are reunited every year! Hurrah!
Hey, they don't get traumatized in real life when they (their snowmen) melt , so why do they get so worked up about a fake one? Oh yeah, I forgot! It came to life ,so I guess that would be pretty sad!
Love it! I live in Canada now and bought a copy to show my daughter and they'd Americanised it - no bloomin Christmas it was a merry Christmas. totally ruined the whole story. So now she can see what an English Father Christmas is. Makes me homesick too! Thanks again!
A scouser is a person who was born in Liverpool in the United Kingdom.
Scouser was a nickname derived from a variation of a beef stew that was called Scouse, which was, and still is very popular here in Liverpool, hence the name :)
ahhh... this takes me back to being younger.. it seemed to be on for a few years on christmas eve... it signified end of preparation start of the magic of christmas. i was devastated the year i looked through the radio times and it wasnt listed as being shown... love it, every child should see .....
It's called Another Blooming Christmas - by Mel Smith. It was released as a single during the very early nineties if my memory serves me, but its very hard to find. I've looked around for you, I can't find it. There are copies for sale on ebay though, thats the only plce I can find it. I hope that helps :)
I don't care if I saw it too early, but I want to see some of Dianne Jackson's animation contributions again. We all just gotta love this grumpier side of Santa, that's for sure :D
I don't know if you do requests or anything but I wonder if you'd do the same with Granpa? I remember taping it when I was a kid at least, no idea where the video got to and the DVD's not even out and around. I'd love to see that again, surely. :)
If I had it, I would certainly upload it but I've never come across it again after seeing it on tv all those years ago. I'm always on the lookout for it, so if I find it, I promise I will upload it :)
It's great to see this again, thanks for uploading it. Brings back happy memories. I remember watching this at primary school on the last day before the Christmas holidays.
Thanks to everyone who watched and commented on this video. I would have liked to reply to each of you but, there are far too many comments for me to keep track of. Thanks so much, its very nice of you all to take the time to comment, and I'm glad you enjoyed the video :)
Quite simply the best Christmas programme ever in my opinion. Some great memories. Can't believe Channel 4 always put this on at 7am on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. This should be 7pm stuff even now.
Havent seen it since I was a child, and I can still remeber every bloomin second of it! When I was a kid I was so happy that the snowman lives (he melts in the orgianal "The snowman!") That I went straight to the garden to build me own one!
I'd honestly not thought about it before, but now that you mention I can see what you mean. I think the entire cartoon probably has that overall 3D feel.
Do 2 versions exist: ''Father Christmas'' and ''Father Christmas Goes On Holiday''? Is the one you've uploaded a combination of the 2? I did a bit of a Google search and it seems to bring up 2 versions.
The Father Christmas, and Father Christmas Goes On Holiday books, were combined to make this cartoon. So as far as I know, this is the only version. You can find it on dvd on most good sites. Hope that helps :)
That explains it then, I was confusing the 2 books with the 1 cartoon. On a different note, I love Santa's cockney voice in your version, it suits his character so much. He had a different voice in the one I saw as a kid.
thanks so much for putting that on there, im 21 now but when me and my bro was young it used to be on every xmas eve at 6pm and we were glued to tv as soon as it started whilst my mam and dad where prepin veg for next day brings back warm happy memories i love christmas so much and cant wait for this 1 too i dont live at home now but me and my fiancee are goin to my parents house this xmas so i hope its on, thankyou xxx hope you have a lovely xmas xxx
