The Dubai International Holy Quran Award has been organised under the patronage of its founder His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. The competition runs from the 1st of Ramadan to the 20th of Ramadan when the winner will be announced at a grand prize ceremony.
Guy Warrington, Consul General at the British Embassy in Dubai attended the 15th Annual Holy Quran Award at Dar Al Nadwa in Al Mamzar on 15 August. Speaking about Omar Hasan G. Aswat, an 18 years old British participant from Leicester, the Consul General said "Omar's participation in this prestigious competition demonstrates the rich multicultural exchanges between the UK and UAE. I wish him every luck for the finals - as I have seen tonight this event requires great skill and determination."
