this is a very hard song for me to listen to. i burnt this on a cd for my oldest brother he died the very next day little did we know that was the very last song he would hear. he loved led zeppelin i kept telling him it was very good he would say no way after he listened he liked it alot then he was gone.
Great version; but it's unfair to compare it to what was recorded for "Walking into Clarksdale, the chemistry between Robert Plant and Jimmy Page cannot be equated to what is shared with Alison Krauss, it changes the song entirely. I think they're fantastic.

this song is actually written by Plant alone not Plant and Krauss. This song was originally on either a plant solo album or the Page Plant unplugged album. with that being said, I think its better with Krauss as a duet.

I do agree he has a great voice, and it think Robert and Alison created a great album. I don't really do live much, except for Lara Fabian, Richard Marx, Chris Rea, Dolly Parton, Celion Dion, Emmylou Harris. I get what lunardancing is saying though about live not being like a studio recording, you have all the other elements to change the sound & quality.
This album is a monument to music. The undisputed first lady of country music and the lead singer of Led Zeppelin. Robert never sounded more tender and Allison is perfect. As a duet the only people that come close are Emmylou and Mark Knopfler. The album Raising Sand should be in everybody's collection.

I had no idea who he was until I read the comments, just to be honest. I thought he was much younger from the sound of his voice. And she does my favorite song in the world: "When You Say Nothing At All." They work well together, but this vid was a little too weird for me. I understand it, but it just kinda creeps me out.

I think this shows just how amazing they both are. I always knew Robert was amazing because of his past, but I didn't realize how much I would like the blending of their two voices. Just great. They should feel very comfortable with this.

this is a very hard song for me to listen to. i burnt this on a cd for my oldest brother he died the very next day little did we know that was the very last song he would hear. he loved led zeppelin i kept telling him it was very good he would say no way after he listened he liked it alot then he was gone.

Great version; but it's unfair to compare it to what was recorded for "Walking into Clarksdale, the chemistry between Robert Plant and Jimmy Page cannot be equated to what is shared with Alison Krauss, it changes the song entirely. I think they're fantastic.

Very interesting how such a nice song can start such fights among everyone personally I like this version of the song much better than the other versions. And whether it be whispering in the lowest voice possible or screaming its all considered singing as long as it is to music. ( take this song for instance it would be the whispering and then take a song like I don't know INDEPENDENT Screamo version both to me very good and both to me still classified as singing) but this is a good song. ^,..,^

Why can't some of you just appreciate good music. If you don't like it - don't listen! No reason to bash what you can't appreciate. So sad for you. I would have liked to hear more from Alison on this song, but her violin performance is beautiful. I also applaud Robert Plant on his wonderful effort to branch out - great job! He has even more talent than we knew he had to give. Please keep giving us more of this!

this song is actually written by Plant alone not Plant and Krauss. This song was originally on either a plant solo album or the Page Plant unplugged album. with that being said, I think its better with Krauss as a duet.

I'm not sure why people are agreeing that they have no chemistry together. This is actually a really good album. I think they're a great combination! Gone, Gone, Gone (Done Moved On) is a great single they sing together. So is this one.

@DMSteller87 People will go a mile to criticize, but won't take 10 steps to compliment. I was never a Led Zepplin fan, nor Robert Plant fan. I do agree he has a great voice, and it think Robert and Alison created a great album. I don't really do live much, except for Lara Fabian, Richard Marx, Chris Rea, Dolly Parton, Celion Dion, Emmylou Harris. I get what lunardancing is saying though about live not being like a studio recording, you have all the other elements to change the sound & quality.

This album is a monument to music. The undisputed first lady of country music and the lead singer of Led Zeppelin. Robert never sounded more tender and Allison is perfect. As a duet the only people that come close are Emmylou and Mark Knopfler. The album Raising Sand should be in everybody's collection.

As a child prodigy she sang and fiddled hard most of the time. As you mature, you learn dynamics in phrasing and interpretation. I saw her in person twice in 2008 with Robert Plant and she cranked up the volume every bit as much or more as him on the songs that required those dynamics. You have no argument whatsoever...

i heard that origianlly robert plant wanted to do this song with the Lady Gaga but she declined being that he was so old and that she would have felt like she was singing with her grandfather. probibly for the best though, he is over his best days and just in a cruising mode now. wouldnt want him to bring the Lady Gaga down with him on his decline you know. just my opinion. @bellhour234 I know for a fact she can sing loud enough. When Alison sings louder her voice gets clearer...a perfect instrument. Robert Plant himself stated when Alison lets loose, harmonics fly and the rafters actually ring from it inside concert halls. I have heard her first hand on numerous occasions hit the notes Mr. Plant speaks of.
Of all the women in the world Robert Plant could have chosen to sing with, he chose her...and for all the reasons above... and then some!

This is a haunting but beautiful song. It's soothing yet engrossing. A song like that cannot be duplicated by the mainstream pop culture. Krauss and Plant are a marriage made in heaven. Truly a remarkable and distrurbing piece of music. By the way, Krauss can stand on her own. Listen to the live version of Battle for Evermore"
