@frankenbat you make a good point. I think it would be good to make a Carbon Fiber Bass. The main reason why i bought a Carbon Fiber Guitar is because of the Humidity here in Hawaii. Wood Acoustic Guitars Swell when the humidity changes. Constant neck adjustments. My Carbon Fiber Guitar has way less Maintenance then my wood guitars. They make Acoustic Wood Basses, i think a Acoustic Carbon Fiber guitar would be nice. I am not sure if any companies make and Acoustic version=)
@rayka good reasons for them to make a larger variety of carbon fiber instruments, and cheaper as well, so that transitory buskers can afford them. is your blackbird louder than your wood acoustics? that would be my primary interest in a carbon fiber bass. i previously owned a 5-string acoustic, but despite being large-bodied, it wasn't loud enough to busk on a street with traffic like a dreadnought.
@frankenbat I wish they were cheaper. i would buy 1 more. Because they are still in the developing stages and not many people are buying plus they are harder to make then a Wood Guitar they will stay in the 2000 Dollar range for a while. As far as louder, for its size its louder then my 3 Taylors but not as loud as my Martin. But this Guitar is a small body guitar. the lower bout is only 14 inches. Its very louder than a lot of regular size Guitars. Its almost as loud as my Martin Dreadnought.
@rayka yeah, it's a bit pricey. maybe i'll bug them to make me a 6-bass after i get a record deal and i've made some money touring.
those picks you use are great, BTW. i've tried boutique picks and various dunlops, but i keep gravitating back to those 2mm delrins. gator grips are a close second, but they're too raspy and hurt my ears at live volume. the delrins have a pleasant, even tone.
@frankenbat I am looking for a use Blackbird Rider. I saw one for 900 but passed it up. I wish i didn't now. I have those blue Delrin with the turtle on it made by Dunlop and Big Stubbys but i was wearing them out in 1 to 2 days. the V-Picks are real good but they are very pricey for picks 4 bucks each. But they are triangle so you can use all 3 sides. i only buy them when Vinnie has package deals. I only been using them since May of this year.
as for dunlops, i hold my pick sideways and play with the rounded shoulder part, so they last for weeks before losing their tone (try it, you might like it). i like the tone of the v-picks (my two latest vids were recorded with medium rounded v-picks), but they're too expensive, and they don't wear any slower for me than the dunlops. they're great for guitar, though; they don't wear out as fast.
@frankenbat I use to do that with Picks back in the 1970s when i was playing Bass. I guess i wasn't the only one doing that. I do use the shoulder part sometimes when i am practicing. I will be checking out more of your Videos soon Thanks.
@sichadeb On the lap its very comfortable. Its smaller then a regular size guitar also the back is tapered so when your holding it while your standing it leans back so you can see the fret board better and is easier to play.
I FINALLY GET TO MEET MEL !!! HooooOOoooraaaay !!! Love the guitar Harvey. It has a great sound. A bit weak on the treble but that was probably Mel tweaking the audio he's such a klutz you know. Actually he did a pretty good job of camera work. It was SO GOOD to see and hear you back in the saddle with a new video. I was beginning to think you had either been washed away by a tidal wave or had fallen down a volcano shaft. Great job - both of you !!! *L*
@DAToDATonian lol. thanks. Mel did a good job. He thought the video went off and so did i til i saw the min counter was still going. Mel is staying with me cause of the Shows and Commercials he is doing. He goes back to Vegas and comes back in Dec for more Shows. Thanks a Million.
It is so pleasing to see your enthusiasm with you new guitar. Listening to you play, it appears the action may be nice and light. Good ring tones coming our of it. Have you tried it with an acousitc amp? Great entertainment, I needed a smile and Hello to Mel Cabang
@SiriuslyEz Yeah yesterday Mel Cabang's Brother's Bday Party i did a small performance with my AC 60 roland acoustic guitar amp and it sounded good. I will Tell Mel you said Hi.
@Yeevvooihon yeah its Carbon Fiber not fiber glass. Few companies have been making Carbon Composites because good woods are becoming rare Martin has a wood composite guitar which i also have.and it is resistant to impact and weather. This type of Carbon is similar to chest protectors. The guitar is made for harsh environment like heat, cold, impact. At the last NAMM show a guy stood on it for a few seconds and it passed that test. I would never try it but shows how strong it is.
i don't know if they make basses, but i think it would be great if they made a 6-string bass.
