First off you guys are all wrong it is not producing hydrogen gas. Its producing chlorine gas. Which the US actually used as chemical warfare due to it being such a good oxidizer. Burns fast and agressive, anyways your idiots for doing this and if any of you breathe this gas dont be suprised by things like asthma, lung disease and that sort.

I agree. It's hydrogen, not chlorine. The cloud you see is most likely contains some muriatic acid (aka hydrochloric acidl), but primarily it's just a mist of aluminum chloride mixed with the rest of the water.

It shouldn't be ALL that dangerous if everything goes correctly, but frankly I wouldnt mess with hydrochloric acid unless you know what you're doing.

That being said, try putting a lit match right next to the bomb. Make sure theres nothing flammable nearby and stand back!

the works is hydrochloric acid (muriatic acid). at least the drain opener and toilet bowl cleaner is. NaOH also reacts with alumuinum to form hydrogen though.
