  • Graves translation is universally held to be the worst. He left out two lines.

It does not actually resemble the untranslated text.

  • My name is Amergin, and from the Melisian Kings I am descended, all Bergins are so descended, we are the true kings of Ancient Ireland, not in a Kingly manner, but in an ancient historical manner. When Ireland finds it's way again, free from Gombeen Men, only then shall we be truly free. And the truthh shall set you free!

  • Hey buddie, whats a bergin? Did you read this in a book somewhere? I thought it was work that sets you free?

OH, and KINGS are Kingly by sheer nature!

    Just so you know!

  • Would have loved to hear Graves version of the song in Gaelic. He proposed the song had been scrambled and only a trained bard could piece it together correctly. He had a go.

  • I'm not really "fan" of graves, he made up too many things and sell them as "ancient" and I don't really fancy people who is dishonest.

  • Makes sence, I read a couple of Kaledon Nadair's books on Ogham, Koelbren & Runic (Shamanistic Divination Scripts of Britain & Europe) and he really had a go at Graves. But even he had a diffrent take on it, he used the Dasgubell Rodd as a guide for creating seasonal representation and made a much better job of it I think. I don't mention his works much as they are not well know.

  • @Aelfarh Here here.

    His translations are terrible too.

  • who song this song??

  • As a time travel detective, we will follow our Celtic ancestors gentic memory back into time to uncover the mysterys

  • I see the sword in the stone,

    waiting to be grasped.

Who would be king among you,

    like a bull-of-the-hillock,

and lead us to the mountain sanctuary?

In there we gather and lift our voice as sword to release the waters from their bonds and send the cattle to usher the breaking day.

  • I Love a well calved comment: Also the interest of extended family, or should I say clan. Their faming habits were very unusual, as was the parentage. I leave my sentiment on this unsaid, as it is but history! Bubs.

  • Eerie and solemn; beautifully spiritual...nice share Ingrid.
