Nice, indeed...but, the Corvair engine was known to have issues with oil leakage in that pancake arrangement; how does a mechanic correct that to make it reliable in an aircraft?
You can build that Zodiac with the Corvair engine for 20,000 or less if your careful and keep it basic. for 30k or more you can get a quick build kit to get it done faster and add some nicer stuff. You could also buy one used for 30k. Its a lot more fun than a sports car.
Or you can just shoot me an offer for my 2006 HDS. It only has 60 hours TTAE. EA-81 subaru conversion - Garmin 496, vortex generators, lotsa good stuff. But, I need something aerobatic. I'll fly it to you and you don't need to build anything.

BRAVO!!! The plane is so much more appealing with a real engine rather than one of those Rotax "lawnmower" motors!

I've always heard about Corvairs in planes. They DO exist. I,ve been into 'Vairs for 32 years, this is a first for me.

The Corvair looks like an affordable engine for an airframe that can be scratch-built by an average builder. A winning combination!
