I admire Robert Hughes intellect however like all men, no matter how intelligent they are theior "dumb stick" is still king of their brain. This series would be more credible without bikini girls, close ups of bikini bottoms, the topless bimbo in the opening video blurb, and the interview comparing Art to a pretty girl .

As picasso said towards the end of his life as others were beginning to move in other directions from his work, "it is nothing more than da-da-ism re-badged as something else."

All of these contemporary movements have had their purpose and place. it was necessary to go this direction in art, but it's supreme impact is to show what art really is.

When one can intellectualize a blank canvas, its time to reconsider everything.

This is part of episode 1 of THE SHOCK OF THE NEW which I saw exactly a month ago at the Paley Center for the Media in Manhattan; originally called the Museum of Television and Radio.
