One thing I never understood about this episode...why didn't the doctor just use the tardis to travel back in time and meet her again before her death. As he wasn't there it wouldn't be crossing his own time stream. Though its a very sad story.

it's so weired to watch now :'( GOD i'm almost crying! i bet he's still got that letter you know or he probabley chucked it in to the tardis's fire i frustration a lot of men do that these days i'm so glad that i havn't got some middled aged man telling me what and what not to do ahhhhh peace!
j'aime beaucoup cette musique ^^, en tout cas en regardant ce zod de Doctor Who, j'ai appris que Madame de Pompadour a rencontré le Docteur. On l'apprend pas ça en histoire mdrrr
Also, its so tragic that he couldn't see her before she died, because she was so sure she would see him again. Tragic, beautiful and touching. One of the best episodes of Doctor who ever. :)
I get chills whenever I listen to this and watch this episode. Its amazing, and David Tennant and Reinette's actor did an amazing job. This a truly wonderful piece from them. The music fits it perfectly and there isn't a single thing wrong. Its evident that The Doctor falls for Reinette in ways that he never loved Rose. Probably because shes as intellegent as he is, and that he could never be with her. The music is amazing, and the final scene with Tennants look of loss was perfect.
poor doctor. She seemed to be his perfect match... And he had really fallen into love with her. Not the thing he had with Rose or any other girl - yet still a really deep love; maybe because he could never have her?
the last scene in this episode when he's reading the letter broke my heart and the music just made me want to cry i love it ha ha ha i know i know i'm daft but i love this song
Beautiful video. The music with The Doctor reading the letter and then just standing there, alone, wow. The music and scene combined is so powerfully emotional.
Every time I see this episode it makes me want to cry. To me it is painfully clear that he loves Madame de Pompadour. I have always had a hard time understanding why the doctor didn't go after her. I have seen less than a fraction of the beauty of this universe, but I just cannot believe that such great love is laid waste for death.

My favorite and in my opinion the most touching Doctor Who episode ever.
The song is also great. Thank you for making this video with the original song, instead of some other music.

It's Reinette's theme, by Murray Gold. I *think* it might be "The Girl in the Fireplace", but don't quote me on that.
