If the dollar collapses, (1) these same companies would lose perhaps as much as 60% of the value of their portfolio, and (2) 65% of world trade would instantly collapse into chaos.

And people say "We could see it all happening, but couldnt think of anyhtng to do about it".
Well, the more i read, the more i worry. Not that 1 particular group is going ot attack us, but that, even if all the news is true, and correct, we still appear to be heading toward disaster.
We either have to trust the east, or attack them, and win. And it is that serious. So a 1 world govt, may save WW3.
Thats my dilema, today.

Makes sense. The US dollar has been the standard international currency for so long that when outher countrys stop tradeing with it will seriously mess things up. With the US position weakening on the international scene they can no longer impose there will on outher countrys like they did will just make them go over to chinas camp.

NY Times.- AIG plan to pay $165 million in bonuses to executives.
Treasury secretary Geithner told the firm they were unacceptable & should be renegotiated.
But the bonuses will go forward because lawyers said the firm was contractually obligated to pay them.
These payments, to AIGs finnancial products unit, are "in addition" to $121 million previously scheduled bonuses to executives and employees.
