I have 7lbs of mercury at home. Metallic mercury is insoluble in water, cannot be absorbed through skin, and can even be safely swallowed (although not reccomended), It is slightly poisonous as a vapor and in a well ventilated area that isn't a problem due to hg's low vapor pressure. You have been brainwashed by the "moms scared about .01ug of Hg near their kid" because it is "poisonous". Only in large amounts over long times.
