Source is just too awesome. The best game engine out there. There are of course plenty of other good ones, example, Unreal Engine. Source and Unreal are the best game engines in my opinion!

@thelittlesagg2 cryengine 3 and frostbite 2 dude, cryengine 3 lighting is the best lighting and frostbite got the best destruction ever with some really good lighting and scaled maps . unreal engine is great cause the ambient is reallly realistic, source engine is really nice too its just really old, still lookin great tho look at counter strike go. look freakin good for being a 2012 game using a 2004 engine

@1hen2ry Yes. But you should know that they have been updating Source Engine ever since. It was first build 952 when Half-Life: Source came out. So it is not really outdated, but not really modern. It has this old school feeling that I really love. Frostbite is amazing because of its destructible environments. CryEngine is not really that big of a deal for me, but not too bad either. Still. Source and Unreal will always remain my favorites.

Well really it's just about paying attention. Why would Valve skip Episode 3 then just dish out Half-Life 3? I think the one who has made an ass out of himself is you. Valve themselves said they speculated Half-Life 3 would take 8 years to create. 2004+8 is 2012. Seeing as how they could have skipped the episodes and just created Half-Life 3, they didn't. They took a risk, and with it...came a bunch of steam updates and multi-player games,.

then you will get lots of files called random.smd take the one you see in the vid, i don't know which.

its a good tutorial, but its on machinima style basis. If one really wants to make animations for source, hell have to go MUCH farther into depth of this procedure.

And Halo: Reach adds even more customizable characters, even more customizable physics, even easier and better map editor, AI enemies for fight scenes and several useful animations.
