It's a little known fact that this scene wasn't really acting. They just filmed Yul Brynner doing what he normally does day to day. It's true, look it up.
@KingTut015 I have read the google books version which is basically nineteen 19 pages out of two hundred 200. So today I ordered it from the Barnes And Nobles WEBSITE and it costed me almost $38 with taxes and shipping and handling here in Miami, FL.
This was one of the first post-apocalyptic action movies, ala "Mad Max." I'm willing to be every movie from "The Book of Eli" to "Fist of the North Star" borrowed something from this film.
The definition of a "Good Body" was something like Yul's at the time
It doesn't much have the abs and biceps that we have in our conception today, but there was a slimness and a "stick your stomach in, and your chest out" sorta thing. they used to train people to be that way (it's now not even considered healthy)
His hand is chained or tied to William Smith's hand at the end while William Smith is dangling down a deep concrete shaft , William Smith says something like "Your gonna die with me", and Yul Brynner cuts his own hand off and William Smith falls to his death at the bottom of the shaft
This movie kicks arse, it has been one of my favourites since I saw it as a kid. Von Sydow, Yul Brunner, Conan's Father, post apocalyptic cannibals, what more could you ask for!
Yul Brynner has always been one of my favorite actors--I seen this movie back in 1976 when I was in my teens--and I thought it awesome.(hadn't seen it since)
@CrispinFlora I would like to see it again myself if you find it online please let me know . I will do the same. I have not seen it in about thirty or so years
Little 4 inch skinning knife. Reinforces the whole no nonsense idea behind Brenner's character.
Robert Clouse directed William Smith again as a bad guy in Darker Than Amber. Do a search for that to see a great fight scene with him and Rod Taylor. Talk about a real feel. In about a minute Rod Taylor is torn to ribbons.
So I see where the Ultimate Warrior got his name from.

People talking about Chuck Norris. Yul Brynner is the real badass. No girly hair on that scalp.

Nobody messes with Yul and gets away with it!
Yul is no doubt the best actor of all time and I'm a huge fan of him.
He was beautiful, his voice was also beautiful!
It was loud and full of strength yet also gentle and soft all at the same time
There can never be another Yul, But he lives on through his movies.

Yul was totally unique. Westworld was undoubted inspiration for The Terminator.
Yul can't be reasoned with, can't be argued with, his one mission is to kill
Bad-ass robot
William Smith one of my fav heavies, that gravel shard voice and intimidating physique.
remember him in Graveyard of Horror--unique vamp pic, but he was ubiquitous in the 60's and 70's

I guess the shaved head was supposed to distract you from the fact that the "tough guy" in the movie has bottle cleaners for arms.

Yul was a beefy man. Even in the ten commandments the guy was probably one of the few actors who could intimidate Charlten Heston.
