@IKnowEverythingOk Hey, I just checked recent activities and all you do is complain. You complain on covers saying it's really bad and you also swore. Jeez don't need to be so harsh. Also, every metal drummers has their own style OK? It's not like all of the drummers has the same style. And another thing it's not about what they wear. It's about the inside not the outside.
i've read alot of the comments here. some benign, some unexpected, some shocking, and some just plane ridiculous! as with all music and entertainers, once it reaches a certain level it's all good. it just depends on what you like to hear and see. how do you judge who's the best when it's all a matter of opinion and choice? Thomas is incredible. and there are thousands incredible in there own right too! like me!! lol.
@masterbeat04 yeah, on a normal set i dont know anyone who can do double strokes on their bass pedals without doing the heel-toe technique. and even if they can it would be near impossible.
@stewartbarnes15 There's about 15 different techniques for doing doubles or triples without using heel-toe on any pedal, on any kit, but it's also very easy to pull off quick notes using singles. Are you suggesting he's using triggers? Because that's ridiculous...
@stewartbarnes15 ain't he using the heel-toe on the electronic kit? some others use flat foot, swivel foot, slide.... and yeah, he's clearly using the heel-toe on the electronic kit, you can't see the motion though because of the beater angles....
@masterbeat04 mmm nah, he played all time with heal up...his heal never touched the pedal. Beacouse of the motion i think he is using the slide tecnique applicated on double bass or pedals =)
Not only is this guy a kick ass drummer he appreciates different styles and has a pretty good sense of humor. Not so sure about his taste in shoe's, I wouldn't be caught dead those red sneakers but this guy can play very well. He makes my top 3 without any doubt. Great job TL
@M1Ch3lsS I think Thomas is a good drummer its just that his blast wasnt right, his fills werent ment for metal. Also when he blasts his isnt doing a roll between his foot and his hand, they are together. . . thats WRONG! Also the original blast was more of a blast beat but you do a bell, bow, bell, bow repeat with the bass hits at around 200 bpm, thomas was a bit slower. he is a good drummer but he needs to practice.
@Punjabi192 His blasts are right, the concept behind the video is to show how the blast beat (that's the offbeat one) is done. There is another type of blast beat that you roll the hand and the bell at the same time. So you know shit about blast beats. The offbeat one type blast beat was invented by Pete Sandoval of Morbid Angel but there are several types. Search and do not be a ignorant. PD: Thomas is not a good drummer, he is a EXCELENT drummer.
@Punjabi192dude wtf are you talking about? he needs to pratcice? are you saying his technique isnt fast enough to play what you think is a "proper" blast beat? thats why it wasnt over 200? maybe he just doesnt have the cordination to do it. haha fuckin moron. there are variations to every groove. He's not playing with dimmu borgir. origionaly blast beats were created by drummers trying to make as much sustained noise as they can. not so dumbass kids like you can critique people like thomas lang
@Racerdew No, because it wasn't alternating between the foot and the hand, like a blast beat was supposed to be. . . its a fucking roll between the hand and the foot, so its has to be seperated. blast beats dont have to be 200bpm +. Napalm Death played blast beats supposedly, but Pete Sandoval gave it structure by making it a roll, and not every Thomas Lang fanboy can go around telling people that they dont know shit about drums, now please go suck his cock.
@Punjabi192 My hair is gone, I'm not a scenebean yo, and still, thomas lang kicks ass(: He's one of the best of this new generation of drummers, MY personal favorites are, James Cassells (Asking Alexandria) He's pretty technical, as far as footwork, and his overall drumming, Thomas Lang, and Jon rice (Job for a cowboy) He's what helped shape them into the death metal sound they have now, instead of deathcore,
So now you know, And knowing his half the battle! :D
@chainmaster234 You can say what you want about your hair but its whats on the inside that counts, and you still are a scene kid. You want to know my favs. Derek Roddy, Eric Moore, and a tie between George Kollias, and George Kollias(yes i know i typed it twice). Oh yeah i love Thomas lang too but when i watch him drum i dont really feel much besides, well that cool.
@xeinosa How are blast beats over-rated? most death metal(grind, black etc.) drummers know its not a complicated thing, but it is hard as hell to keep clean, its supposed to be a role with the bass drum falling in between snare hits, after 200 this becomes really hard. So my question is, is how is it overrated.
@thisisformusiconly It is an over rated technique. I see and hear lots of drummers who abuse it. Music is based on an idea and the expansion of that idea is what makes good coherent music. When blast beats are used they are never expanded upon nor varied... this makes them over rated and boring. The over use of this technique is actually a cop-out for not having technique.
@xeinosa I agree that some bands over use the technique when they're songs have just "bangbangbangbangbangbangbangbang" in it but there's plenty of bands that actually have technique and variation to the blast beat (nile, necrophagis, wintersun, etc etc) some people can't comprehend the drums to it well unless your a decent drummer that can feel and precisely hear the beats.. some bands overuse it like Waking the cadaver but i thinks its because they want to overuse it to annoy people
Perhaps Thomas Lang is not the best on blast beats thing and extreme playing, but if you watch his videos you'll fine an excellent drummer, perhaps one of the bests around the globe. Speed ain't all my friend... and I have to say that I really admire George Kollias and Derek Roddy..
@Audi0Phil Some people (trolls) would say he's not all that great. Others would call him a fag for dressing the way he does. But I think he can kick tons of drummers' asses and look professional while doing it
The Rolands sound awful if you're used to acoustic kits. They also, no matter what "realistic mesh material" is used, do not have anywhere near the feel and playability of acoustic drums.
@TheTwoThumbs I Like playing on my Roland and have no complaint about the feel. And if you know a little more about the technical stuff than I do, you can get fantastic sounds.
@Ryanio1 No, it's just that his skills grow and he gets better and better. And so does his body. He wouldn't be able to play twelve million bpm if he were thin like Ghandi.
Or play 128 on the Hi Hat if his arms wouldn't match Arnold Schwarzenegger. Because in the beginning, he only was about a bit speed, a bit throwing around the sticks.
@DunklerZebralord Blasting is all in the wrist dude, nothing with the arm, if you move your arm you wont blast for long. Plus blasting is more than just playing fast as hell, blasts range from 0 to 100000 bpm(maybe) but you get theres veriations plus you can also change many things up when blasting, yeah mean!
@Punjabi192 ... actually, when i play blast beat's, i use moeller stroke or other 2 or even 4 stroke combinations between arm wrist and finger to play fast and efficient. there are ways to still use less energy without sacrificing sound quality. try it out
@cathiegc I know what your talking about, i am starting to learn that technique, but once again, i have to start slow, and its going to suck. But its totally worth it because its going to be loud as hell!
@Punjabi192 kool man. muscle memory is the best way to learn anything. and really breaking down and understanding the mechanics of the stick and the arms, will definitely help you feel what you are playing rather than just forcing out beats. always slow before fast
@cathiegc Its true, but my theroy is if you can play it for ten minutes staight, then speed the tempo up. I can play ten minutes staight with my wrist, full speed no problem, but only 1 to 2 minutes, when i put some force into it.
@drumdude46 yeah he´s austian as well as i am! he says:"Oans, zwoa, drei, vier!", wich means something like:"One, two, three, four!" This accent is really funna to the germans..... :D
is this Cat Austrian? wow. i mean, i've heard his name in drumming circles for years.......always assumed he was American. but here....as he's speaking, a slight accent is detected. then......he count's something off and it's sounds like friggin' German! is he German?
He is a good drummer, but he needs to stick to jazz. His first blast is slow, and he doesnt get much faster or better. Plus his fills OH GOD. . . lets just say they werent made for metal.
@Nobelium84 I beg to friggin' differ my man. dead Wrong. watch him some more. other vids. he's !Quite capable. that's clear. now....it's possible that your a pimple faced 16 year old, and can't get past his clean cut, older look. your used to greasy, bum-looking dudes with hair down to their Assess (cause that's "cool" huh?) like Roddy, or Killias, or that punk wastoid, Jordinson. jeez. where are you little punk fucks gonna finally grow up? Lol!

Thomas Lang is a difference person everytime oO?
Ryanio1 1 year ago 30
@Ryanio1 No, it's just that his skills grow and he gets better and better. And so does his body. He wouldn't be able to play twelve million bpm if he were thin like Ghandi.
Or play 128 on the Hi Hat if his arms wouldn't match Arnold Schwarzenegger. Because in the beginning, he only was about a bit speed, a bit throwing around the sticks.
But blastbeat is real body work!
DunklerZebralord 1 year ago
@DunklerZebralord Blasting is all in the wrist dude, nothing with the arm, if you move your arm you wont blast for long. Plus blasting is more than just playing fast as hell, blasts range from 0 to 100000 bpm(maybe) but you get theres veriations plus you can also change many things up when blasting, yeah mean!

@Punjabi192 ... actually, when i play blast beat's, i use moeller stroke or other 2 or even 4 stroke combinations between arm wrist and finger to play fast and efficient. there are ways to still use less energy without sacrificing sound quality. try it out
cathiegc 1 year ago
@cathiegc I know what your talking about, i am starting to learn that technique, but once again, i have to start slow, and its going to suck. But its totally worth it because its going to be loud as hell!
Punjabi192 1 year ago
@Punjabi192 kool man. muscle memory is the best way to learn anything. and really breaking down and understanding the mechanics of the stick and the arms, will definitely help you feel what you are playing rather than just forcing out beats. always slow before fast
cathiegc 1 year ago
@cathiegc Its true, but my theroy is if you can play it for ten minutes staight, then speed the tempo up. I can play ten minutes staight with my wrist, full speed no problem, but only 1 to 2 minutes, when i put some force into it.

ah, dubblestrokes with the feet. smart. :)
I don't use to play with a dubble pedal so it's porbably not new for those who do. :p and probably not that smart either. ;) haha.
Anyways. Thomas is indeed a kickass player.

he looks like the guy chasing after Neo in the matrix :D
musikkkkk 1 year ago
He is a good drummer, but he needs to stick to jazz. His first blast is slow, and he doesnt get much faster or better. Plus his fills OH GOD. . . lets just say they werent made for metal.
Punjabi192 1 year ago
He sucks on metal parts.
