Too bad Heather Sandstrom's video is hearsay bullshit FIXWCB, who 'predicts' her father would have died if he had his heart problems in Canada. Yet studies show we have equivalent heart outcomes, often times better, then those in the States. Of course, we never get that little pesky thing called a bill either.
Its also too bad that the prov. of Saskatchewan reports median wait times of 32 days for NON-urgent MRI cases & 0 to 24 hours for emergency cases. U waited because of Workman's Comp.
Tommy Douglas started free medical care...The Canadian Government won't release freedom of information on how the RCMP investigated him; Saskatchewan now is the worst place for medical care; I was made to wait 3 yrs for a MRI that needed surgery;
The Canadian Government is controlling who gets medical care, by cutting healthcare budgets. Canada medical care Sucks....watch the u-tube with Heather Sandstrom and see what she says, how many more have to die waiting for treatment....
Guess that's why the Canadian prime minister came to the US for treatment...because he has it so good there...? People who think healthcare in Canada is great are nonsensical.
@mrct1118 HE IS NOT OUR PRIME MINISTER! If you are going to make a comment check your facts. Danny Williams is a Premier (Governor ) of Newfoundland. He is also independently wealthy and can afford to pay the hundreds of thousands of dollars. One CND Multi Millionaire who wanted to recover in his condo in Florida does not show that the CND Health care does not work. The actress Farrah Fawcett went to Europe for Cancer treatment does that mean that Cancer treatments in the US doesn't work?
No one who advocates government run healthcare can answer this question...if it's so great in Canada, why do they come to the USA when they can't get life saving treatment there or the wait is too long...?
@mrct1118 NEWS FLASH: Canadians live an average of three years longer than Americans. Americans, not Canadians are the ones dying from lack of health care. American insurance run health care is third world health care compared to what people in Canada, and all the other nations in the industrialized world have.
@mrct1118 The fact is if that Canadians flocking across the border for treatment in the US is a myth and totally false. For every Canadian who goes to the US for treatment, there are 1000 Americans (1.5 million a year) who cross the border for treatment and surgery in Canada.
I think we should follow France and have free tuition into medical school, however, you would have to practice in Canada for a minimum of 8 years after graduation.

One thing I can only HOPE is that Americans wont fall for the Healthcare system in USA.
Stay away from that Socialist Tax sucker. I'm from quebec and since Medicare was created in the 70's it has deteriorated to a point where people are trying to find countries that will treat them because of the 3 -4 year wait for cancer patients. Taxes have gone up 500% to cover this service to no avail and Doctors are leaving the country for better pay.....Word to the wise DON'T ACCEPT MEDICARE...
I think what you have there is a provincial problem. I was born in Quebec and spent most of my life there, but have lived in Toronto for the last 8 years. There is a serious difference, but you have to take into consideration that Quebec had political issues (related to the language debate) through the 80's and 90's that caused and exodus of people and money and were in debt for a very long time for a variety of reasons. I think she is right. Health Care varies depending on the province.
Like the lady said, every province administers their own health care. I'm from BC and the system works a whole hell of a lot better than what you have in Quebec. I have been through it and it really doesn't get any better. (had to get routine bloodwork after my yearly checkup went to the clinic to get it done. Nobody was in there. The 2 nurses were glad to see me so's they'ed have somthing to do. Out in 5 minutes. I always go to this clinic because there is never anybody there) It works in BC.
My health care is fine and I live in America. I go see the doctor when ever I want, no waiting, small co pay. My insurance is awesome.

Dr. Livingston's historical overview is generally correct, but she does make a number of claims that are not true.
- Canadian doctors do not earn more than US docs
- there waiting lists for many procedures
- the federal government has substantial control of the system through its funding requirements
