  • What do you march?

  • lol. txraider13... i'm glad high school marching band is apparently the MOST important thing in your life....

  • Low brass at 8:18, that's good stuff. :)

  • @CanyonBassCaptain I meant 8:24. lol

  • I like how our director was yalls finals judge, and because he hates your director he gave yall a low score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TxRaider13

seventh in the state is low.

yep! you're right, we were terrible.

  • @TxRaider13

Say what you'd like. High school band is the least of my worries.

  • @TxRaider13 Someone's a little jealous. :O

  • @TxRaider13

wow, just as classy here as you are on Txbands

  • If you think we cheated, you can come out in the crazy hot Texas weather and march with us. You'd find out very quickly that it isn't as easy as it seems...

  • @wlsonkm, Look at L.D Bell high school band, they have about 300 people and their cover downs are real clean and nice. Nevertheless, this band is incredible(:

  • Comment removed

  • How the hell can you cheat? If anyone cheats, it's the bands who wear dark pants and stand around all of the time.

  • Comment removed

  • Wow! Thats incredible for high school marching band!

  • what do you play in marching band?

  • Hahaha, no it's Eb- thank you

we placed Bb last year :)

    but thanks anyway

  • point is to let people enjoy coppell's performance. and if u love marcus so much why dont u go and comment on their video on how u think marcus is so much better. they dont even play and march a lot compared to coppell or ld bell. go stick ur head in the sand and think about that.

  • this was an awesome performance. i remember that huge echo at the very end!!

  • Because we played third in prelims

it was a mistake, far from snooty.

  • That salute was real tight...and I gotta say that for a 350-member band, it was very clean and articulate. Very impressed!

  • How can they cheat? With easy drill?

But really....there's only so much you can do with 350 people....and I have yet to see another band with cover downs that clean with that many people.

  • hahah we did?

  • ok what is wrong with you? you come onto my account and say "oh they cheated" and stuff like that. and now on panic's account. if you dont stop im gonna shut down your account. seriously, you need to put your head on straight and see what your typing.

  • @CoppellBandCheats HAHahahahahHhahahaahhahahaa

  • how can you cheat?

    you can't.

so you should stop wasting your time trashing the CHS band because you're not even making any sense.

  • Im so glad ill be going to this school in one year.

  • did yall like win? or get a 1 or 1st place or 1st chair or whatever band gets?

  • we didn't win.

    we got 7th in finals

  • Yeah dude we got first chair.

  • LOL ya we got first chair in FINALS O_o

  • Man. I forgot how chilling 8:25 was. Music-wise, that is.

  • 8:25 is utterly bone chilling. I have rarely ever seen such a beautiful, powerful ending from a high school marching band. The rap on the rim of that snare is right on cue. Simply AWESOME!! Seventh place is clearly underrating the quality of this performance. Like most modern day competitions, the judges probably gave first pace to a band who SPLATS as loud and intonate as they can while running around the field in disorganized chaos. I think you guys have an awesome, classy band program!

  • Enjoy this ALL OF YOU these will be some of the best and most valuable memories of your life. Hold dear in your hearts to value of music and music education and continue the glorious and unique tradition of the American marching band.

  • Except the exception of oboe and bassoon players :)

  • Hey, watch it! I was a bassoon player in high school. Double reed instruments are difficult to master and many of us were not recruited to play such an instrument until high school; although, I can't imagine marching with one. We only had bassoons in the wind ensemble, not for marching band. You guys support one another and keep up the great work!!

  • This band is wonderfully powerful. Your sound is clean, strong, and warm. You are well taught and well rehearsed, just as your teachers and parents want you to be. This show has a beautiful, strong, powerful ending lead drum majors movements are large and exaggerated. This guy is proud and he is feeling the music with all of his heart and soul. Just a slight nod of his head to his band at the end you all did a great job; I am proud to lead you.

  • u go to my school, you guys should play at our jv football games lol

  • haha good job. Im in Clements High. You guys are on the all state t shirt

  • god you guys are amazing..i go to south good luck this year at state =D we will give you our best and we will OWN ALL lol

  • Sean..oye.

    discard that last quote.

  • what? discard that alst quote?

  • we will own all? its a joke

  • how many people r in your band

  • Around 350

  • Rest in peace, FEATURED BASSOONIST SOLOIST, Cristina Coker. She lived a beautiful life, full of love from July 9, 1989 to April 25, 2008.

  • i go to cms west and i am definitely going to do band in high school!!this was AMAZING!!!chs band is one of the best in the state and everything in this march was absolutely PERFECT!!!i dont no HOW it was possible for you guys to place 7th! great job!

  • You'll learn all of this in a few years when you're under Mason's wing.

  • haha...thanks.

  • Wow, awesome show! :D I remember watching this at State and I was blown away by the sound you guys produce... I'm from Duncanville and dang, I can't believe you guys went from 3rd in the prelims to 7th in the finals... But I'm glad that there are other bands that are all about fundamentals and awesome music! Keep rocking. See you guys at State 08!

  • its all these damn BOA judges keeping us down! shows with props are winning everything while us TRUE marching bands win less, if at all. we need to keep doing what we are doing, marching fundamentals and playing kick-ass music! (im also from coppell)

  • Loved the oboe solo!

  • dude...why do i move so much when i play....wth???

    lol

  • YOUR BROTHER!! can do the absolute BEST impression of you playing. I cracked up for ten minutes. It was hilariously accurate

  • That's you playing the oboe? Great job.

Have you played the whole HIndemith? It's my solo this year.

  • Noo that's not mee

  • Haha I just noticed that WIll Smith played the solo for this also.

  • whoa, that is some nice instrument coppell has. To bad I dont live with them anymore. I live in lewisville now which isnt that bad.

  • Band wise?

We played them the other night.

  • Lol if I remember right, Lewisville just stood there at the football game where COppell got owned..

  • Lewisville pwned Coppell at 9/28/07

    21 to 7 :P

    Nice game though :D

  • lol youre already posting comments about that game

  • lol :P

  • Er.. Alright

  • haha, ya....drugs are an unfortunate issue....and so is drinking! so many kids drink....

but coppell is far from ghetto....it is, however, full of kids with bad habits

  • Once I grow up, I'm going to let me children live in Coppell. There is no such thing as gang violence or teen pregnany there...In Lewisville, it's everywhere. No way in hell that I'll let my kids live in a ghetto school.

P.S. I live in lewisville, but I'm sooooooo damn close to Flowermound...DAMNIT

  • I literally laughed out loud, if you're serious about none of that here. we have such an issue with drugs.

  • Really? I only saw one high schooler smoke, there was more? Curse my ignorance! :P

  • one?! Holy cow.. They bust like people dealing drugs in school. Last year a couple like deals went on in the bathroom, and people stored it in the ceiling tiles.

  • omg 0.o

This is not the Coppell I know :P

  • you would want those crappy run throughs so you can compare them to BOA and see how much we improved duh

  • I don't want to compare. I only want our good stuff. Thanks

  • my mom video taped the show tonight....it was actually pretty clean....very well done!!

  • can i get the tape?

  • Why would I want RECORDINGS ....

  • I diddnt mean the music RECORDINGS i meant, the recordings of us MARCHING music of gershwin. Mr slovak taped us once or twice.

  • why would I want those crappy run throughs?

  • Yeah, I've watched just about all of the run-throughs we've done in section leader meetings. You really don't want to see them. You'd probably cry.

  • God, every time I watch this I picture this years show being this good...and man, if we get this down like we did this show, we've got it made.

  • that gave me chills.

See. last year's show.. was once like this years. Broken and nasty. and I thought it'd never get good, but the funny thing is-- is that we don't even notice we're improving.. It just gets better. BOA San Anotonio is going to be amazing.

  • dude i know! i got them too at the end. and your damn right, we are gonna DOMINATE in San Antonio

  • plz :P

  • Hey u shld ask Mr. Slovak for the Music of Gershwin recordings and upload them on youtube.

  • recording of music.. and on here? No thanks.

I'll upload the BOA UTA video. but not music.

  • which year was this?

  • 2006

  • AHHH.....thoes were the days.....Mason still there?

  • Duh. he's not dead yet!

  • yes hes still there and still the scariest

  • He's scary? Since when

  • i dont really know but hes scary........

  • Not really.. I'm not scared of him? I respest the authority he has-- that's all

  • Exactly! He was a great teacher....and it was usually the ones that couldn't take it that had issue with him. He got the best out of us when we were there! It was more of a "Drill Instructor" type of motivation.....I wish I had more like him when I was in HS....i might have done better!

  • Thank you for understanding what i'm saying :]

He just pushes us harder than anyone i've ever known

  • DTNSU is my new favorite person.

    lol.... no seriously though.....

so umm......raise ur hand if you (even though we all liked last years show) think that Gershwin this year owns all....??? my hand is raised BTW.....

  • music of gershwin?

  • Yes?

  • COPPELL RULES!!!!!

  • I am a 3A band director and my band was at state and we stayed & watched the 5A finals...I thought you guys got robbed and had you in my top 3.

    Go Band!

  • Thank you! What 3A band?

  • Atlanta H.S.

  • Hmm. Haven't heard of it

  • heh im in that band now, is the drum major greg..? o__O

  • Now? Or then.. Then, was Conner

  • not the.. uh.. the main one, the one off to the side.

  • Wow, our drill this year's going to kick butt as long as we do it well. Last years was amazing, though, as well. Gershwin will be fun. :3

Ah, you're Kristen, right? You've got a million stickers on the flute wall. xD I'm Ashley, I'm a freshman flute this year. (:

  • AH, I know you.

Yeah.. last year's drill was alright, but after doing both last years, and this years- I prefer Gershwin.. oh yay!

  • Our Gershwin show this year is going to be so much better.

  • While watching this, I get more and more excited. We did pretty well with this show and the music made like no sense together. This year, our music and drill fit so much better together. The biggest problem is executing it.

  • Definately. I'm not worried about it, because everyone is so excited about this show.. but its just such a slow proccess this year, because we're being so careful about making everything perfect. It'll all align

  • It's actually better on the field. People don't have "definite" points where they can try to argue with you. There is no doubt that people on yard lines and hashes are right, but besides that, they have no choice but to listen.

  • Mr Miller says there is no such thing as "Addressing to the Form" it's.. you have a dot to go to, and you go to it, which I completely agree with.

  • Dots are too faulty to rely on, though. It makes more sense to say you have a point to go to and you go to it every time, but we have to lay dots because people don't know off the top of their head what one step by three and a quarter steps off of the yard line is.

  • Who is this?

  • Plus, you know, it could be that we also have like 200 people on the field at a time so having all the leadership point out spots for each and every set would be a pain the ass. Plus the whole thing about everyone remembering would again, suck, and we'd get things done a lot less efficiently.

  • I was gunna go there.... I goto Ranchview right down teh street (u kno wat i mean) XD

  • Ranchview.. Not sure where that is, actually

  • yeahh.... thats because its a new school (6 yrs old) and only about 700 kids go there if u kno wher the Dallas Cowboys training camp is OR wher the street "Valley Ranch" is u might spot it

  • Vally Ranch. Yep yep.

  • As much as we did pull off Hindemith, I'm so glad we're doing Gershwin this year instead of yet another strictly classical composer..(although, death to the designer for excluding the damn clarinet solo.. I mean, what the hell did he do that for???!) MUCH better music choice. And drill. I have very high hopes for this year.

  • I don't remember bashing Marcus all that much. And I sure hope you're not talking about me whenever you say some kids need to stop complaining and work, because I stopped complaining two weeks after state. It's the last thing on my mind.

  • I wasn't. Was talking about a good handful of kids in band.

  • Our drill this year = sex.

Literally. We make a sperm for a quick, split second, and there is a subliminal penis shortly after.

But seriously, our show this year will kick so much ass.

  • o-o

    Oh my god.

    You're right.

    xDDD

    And there's a tongue, too.

  • im pretty sure that i LOVE this year's show!!! its amazing!!

  • :]]]

  • To be honest,

Coppell Band, this is amazing. I am the Alto Sax Section Leader @ South Grand Prairie HS. Your overall sound is amazing. I always envy your band haha! Whether in marching, all-region, or in concert season.

    This is truly amazing.

Oh and in another note, its good to know that it isnt going to be as blocky as it used to be in the past. =]

  • It's good news to ALL of us. We often got bored of our "Block--Curvey Figure" formations.

Apparently, according to our directior, that our drill will be pretty difficult, but he says that every year :]

  • If your band wasn't so damn big, it wouldn't have to do the same block formation all the time. But overall a good performance. Great lower brass.

  • I do hate the block formation, but that also has a great deal to do with the drill designer our director hired.

We've got the drill writer for Phantom Regiment this year, so hopefully the drill will be a little more.. less blocky

  • That's awesome! Congrats on getting Phantom's drill writer, that should fix the block issue. When I was in high school, my band's drill writer colaborated with the drill designer for the Cavs. We marched "The Planets" that year. It was great and refreshing to actually create a real drill that was new in design. Needless to say we did great. Good luck with the new drills.

  • omg you better post 2007 show !!!!

  • Dont you worry... This year's show is coming along very nicely :]

  • good job i remember you at duncanville you pretty much beat all of us... i go to pearce the show was pretty boring but your sound is great.

  • this is serously like woah. amazing.

  • Thanks :]

  • One of the problems of artistic "competitions" is that partisan team spirit often simply misses the point. This isn't a boxing match or a football game, it's a band tournament. Judging is necessarily subjective -- it's not like putting points on the scoreboard. But at the end of the day it isn't whether or not a particular band is "Numero Uno," it's about what did THIS band sound like, and how did THIS band look marching.

  • Exactllly

  • whoops nevermind. I totally forgot there was a Symphony in Eb... heheheh I feel stupid now.

  • mmhm, lol

  • Its Symphony in "B"b... heheh.

  • Mike Davis was my Jr. High director. Greatest director I ever had, witty as hell, can be a jerk but almost always to make the band better. Gay too. Not like crappy but actually homosexual.

  • actually, we're all debating weather or not he's gay...

  • I was always thinking that he was simply just asexual.

  • Marcus didn't have a show worthy of first place. It was cute, but LD Bell should have taken it. Props to Berkner too, cool show. Coppell is nice and known in my band as the "Phantom Regiment band" for their white, classical music selection, great sound, and enthusiastic drum major, but they just seemed to lack the energy necessary for a sure-fire first place win.

  • Our director often reffers to Phantom-- for us to almost "Look up" to, I guess. We're changing our uniforms for the 2009 year hopefully to uniforms similar to Phantom. White with black accents.

  • Thank you. Very true.

  • Im pretty sure our center snare doesn't march phantom but thanks for the misinformation ... but he did make it way far into audtions and got screwed when it came to selection .. but for all you marcus people you bought yourself a championship with all the expensive props, not good marching

  • Sorry about the misunfo, Stephen

  • Let me rephrase that. I felt Duncanville had the best performance in the finals.. CHS was the BEST band in the finals!!

  • ummm I am unaware of anyone marching drum corps.....and nothing is wrong with BOA shows, they're fun! but we're not used to performing in them. i will say however that next year we are making a style change to our show...hopefully we will place higher at contest...

  • Okay, forget my question about having a colorguard! Y'alls direction changes in the beginning are clean, great way to begin the show. I marched with the Santa Clara Vanguard, do any of your peers march drum corps? Also, what's wrong with BOA shows anyway? :)

  • Like the last guy said-- nothing wrong with BOA.. we're just a "traditional" marching band. Marching, music, and what not is our forte. Drum corps are DEFINATELY more BOA. Yes, a lot of our drumline is in corps. Our center snare is on Phantom

  • No, he isn't.

  • I'm the parent of a CG student at Coppell and this still give me goose bumps. Forget Marcus-- Duncanville was the best MARCHING band in the finals.

  • Uhm, hello PARENT of a COPPELL student...

Duncanville was the best? ... Interesting

  • You Marcus arrogant people sicken me. Do you have any idea how arrogant you sound with your comments?

    Coppell is award winning.

    5 star!

  • Wow! Thank you :]

  • mmm. marcus's show was good. however, it was a totally different TYPE of show than what we do. im not saying that they're wrong, or bad, just different. so honestly saying our show was dull is only a true statement when put next to a BOA type show. I guess we just like sticking to marching fundamentals, that focus on music and marching, not so much colorguard and pit...

  • dude first of all marcus show was way better then this ... this show is sorta dull but nice sound and marching any ways

  • If you're into BOA type shows, then yes, Marcus was better.

Figuring why Marcus beat us? Quite possibly.

    Thanks for your input?

  • Kristin, Marcus's show was done very well, whether you want to admit it or not. Ok.. they have giant crabs and do a lot of "BOA" stuff. But they do it well. They have a very nice sound. I believe that one of the main problems with our band is that so many kids have their head's so far up their asses that we believe we should be getting first served to us on a silver platter.

  • Don't take is as I don't like the show, that part in the second movement still gives me goosebumps, I think a lot of kids in the band need to shut up and just do their jobs.

  • Yet those same people don't really put forth the effort to really do so. I think that in order for us to snatch first this year we will need to seriously just quick bitching about everything and just do it. Just do the work. We need people to quit looking for lame excuses like bashing other bands to feel better about themselves for slacking off at finals because they found out the band got third.

  • And I'm not trying to bash you either.

  • Now that is one bad ass band if i do say so myself .. deserving of first (darn marcus) lol the drumline is crystal clear with some tasty dynamics :) not to mention a sexy spilt center snare

  • not really

  • Flipping sweet. There are two things that get me uber excited...Theatre and Marching band. I do colorguard at college...this is awesome!!
