  • this sux

  • @bogpolle As do you, good sir.

  • trombone are flat cuz plunger

  • A grand piano would have actually made quite a difference...still it's a really good interpretation of Count Basie's unreached piece.

  • sounds like someone ran over the recording with an 18 wheeler on new years eve

  • Schön, aber der E-Bass klingt echt ...

  • My high school band played this better than them. This just sounds lazy, and not in a good way.

  • my highschool band plays this song better than them. I feel like they aren't really passionate about it.

  • trombones are flat or somethin

  • Is this the Sammy Nestico arrangement?

  • @mattyblast Neil Hefti - from the album " The Atomic basie" - the greatest recording session ever, of any type of music. On "Whirlybird" we have the greatest tenor solo by Lockjaw Davis. . I did once ask him about that recording, and he told he was called at the last moment for the recording because one of the tenor players was ill.!

  • tenor sax solo lacks musicality..

  • the music's actually not bad. quite nice to listen to, but why do the performers look so bored/serious?

  • @budjibird

I'm gonna take a guess that since this is a slower tempo, then that is probably why. I've also played the song and it's great and all but doesn't have the same kick as a faster song with a bigger shout chorus...even though this one has a nice one : )

Still though, I agree that a little interest in the music by the performers would probably make this 20 times more entertaining.

  • good playing

    perfect 5 *

  • shreds?

  • what's wrong with playing loud at 2:00?! it's a decent effort, but why are people not enjoying themselves??

  • that was terrible

  • 2:00 sounds so muched better tanked i think

  • who do the trombones face down. thats really bad posture

  • They point their bells into their stands because it deflects their sound. What are you in 5th grade band?

  • jeesh this was boring.. =p

  • I used to play drums in a similar band; we played it with some more ''bite'' in the arrangement, but this band is good...

Syd Lawrence's version is still my favorite, though.

  • the solo sounds just a little lacking energy, but in general the band played really well. Excellent bass player and drummer

And what happened to the 1st trumpet after 2:00?

  • its a shame this world has forgot about this great music called jazz. its really a shame.

  • I wouldn't say the worlds forgotten about it, I'm 15 and I love jazz, It's just no longer main stream.

  • yeah i know, but i mean like im 12 and when i tell my friends i listen to jazz they're like ew and whatnot. so idk, the world hasn't forgotten, but its just so like....under credited.

  • I play bari sax, and personally, I love this song, because I also play trumpet in this song, I do a few of the solos when I'm playing bari. This song has to be one of my favorites.

  • I relly like playing this song in our scolar bigband. (I play alto sax) Nice one!!
