Incidentally, I did drive a cf600 international that had a v6 diesel, for three years, great engine in some ways, but considered a turd my most. based on 6.0 pstroke

I'll be the first to admit, hands down the Cummins is the better engine. Also I feel the Allison is the best automatic transmission. Dana, best rearends. As far as body and quality of the pickup. Ford beats all. A Ford pickup with a Cummins, Allison, and Dana rears and you got a truck. Why do you think most OTR trucks have Cummins available to them?

all I have to say is they both were kinda slow. If someone was driving that dirty that knew how to launch it right could have pulled a 14.xx. Thats pretty reasonable time for a stock chipped duramax. Minor knowlege for folks. The I6 is a more ballence engine, makes torque easier with throttle. IE, pulling. Limited top end and are physically large. Neither is a bad engine. Secondly the Dmax is smaller, lighter and able to spool power quicker and turn a higher RMP. That's why they are a better suited in racing terms for HP and top end. Although let it be noted that with any good build either engine will do great things and last.

well if you think 650,000 miles is not much to expect all i got to say is my family owns ford strokes and chevy dirty maxes fords cant keep there heads on and isuzu(duramax for those who dont know chevy had to go foreign to find something half reliable remember the 6.5 had to put it in half ton trucks cause thats all it would move that was a good one doesnt every thing run great out of the dealer loses power at 175xxx lets just say thank god for there warranty or there trucks would be broke

@blackwell808 Yeah, but Cummins inline engines use 30% less parts compared to a V8 engine making it easier to build, also puts the torque to the wheels much faster, inlines tend to always have the best low-end torque, and launches off the line faster.

@AnotherDayInTheNJ Of course a V8 engine will destroy a inline 4 cylinder engine off the line, it has 4 more cylinders, also why did you include those 2 cars into this argument as they have nothing to do with what i'm trying to say. If you put a stock inline 6 Cummins against another stock V8, chances are the Cummins is going to launch faster, inline engines are also more balanced as they are in a straight line, which makes quite a difference in performance. I'm also not degrading V8 engines.

@ZuberZoftStudio you just generalized 4cyl vs 8cyl. not necessarily diesels. and your wrong, powerstrokes/duramax's make more torque lower in the RPM range then cummins. cummins launch at a higher RPM with more HP. the only advantage cummins has is the ability for higher RPM, equaling more hp.

@AnotherDayInTheNJ Actually, you have that backwards slick. ISB Cummins only rev up to 3400 rpm, 4000 with ugpraded springs and cam. PSD's and Dmax's are higher than that. The peak torque is also backwards of what you listed. I'd suggest reading a bit more before you state completely wrong info.

@AnotherDayInTheNJ you are retarted...you must be a ford guy or powerjoke owner...have you even looked at a dyno sheet between a 500hp cummins and a 500hp duramax??obviously not..take a CR5.9 with a smarty, and a duramax,lets say LBZ, with a PPE tune.both with built trannys and fuel pump. strap them to a dyno...the cummins will come on strong then fall on its face in the higher rpms where the duramax shines in the mid to high rpms..

@MegaGuitarboss lol must have a shitty shop then our shop has cummins powerstrokes and duramanx's come in all the time and me personally i drive a 1996 dodge cummins 2500 and it has ben the most reliable truck i have ever had it has 344,000+miles on it and my dads is about to turn over 700,000 and he has had it since 1995 and i have yet to see a duramax or powerstroke com in our shop with similar miles to his and still run like its brand new and look as good as it does

all I have to say is they both were kinda slow. If someone was driving that dirty that knew how to launch it right could have pulled a 14.xx. Thats pretty reasonable time for a stock chipped duramax. As far as the cumins is concerned it didnt look like he launched very well either but I have no idea what all that truck has.
And someone for the love of god chop those stacks down a few inches. They're way too tall imo

Minor knowlege for folks. The I6 is a more ballence engine, makes torque easier with throttle. IE, pulling. Limited top end and are physically large. Neither is a bad engine. Secondly the Dmax is smaller, lighter and able to spool power quicker and turn a higher RMP. That's why they are a better suited in racing terms for HP and top end. Although let it be noted that with any good build either engine will do great things and last.
