  • @glenster97 Legend has it that bringing Chuck Norris into a context involving Tommy Emmanuel makes you look like a dumbfuck.

  • 240p does this no justice...

  • can someone tell me whats the name of the song at the begining? Thanks!

  • @rulez7000 It is Stanley Meyers Cavatina. If you wanna find it on youtube: /watch?v=M_8d0DJpbBI

  • His guitar, from what I've heard, is an Australian made with a piezo pickup and a mic inside...and what a sound! I've seen him twice at the Chet Atkins Fest in Nashville...I now have an Ibanez with a piezo, Fishman pickup and a condenser mic inside...yeah, I try, but nothing like this!!

  • this video make me smile over and over lol

  • Lol My friend said slash is better than tommy

  • i want tabs ;_;

  • Great entertainer as well as a guitar legend.

  • If Jackie Gleason played guitar he would Tommy.

  • there is not many guitarist out there who become one with the guitar. tommy emmanuel is one of those people. he was born with the guitar as a part of his inner being.

  • he is playing to his poo

  • Who the fuck disliked this video?

  • @frootloopsfan I truly believe that there are sad sacks out there that do nothing but dislike any video that is good for some perverse reason. I can't figure it out: maybe they are just sad, maybe they miss Hitler, maybe they get a sense of power from being the catalyst for comments like yours and mine. What is true though, is that they are sad sacks and could never ever be powerful or good or wonderful or the best at anything.

  • @FirstFiveFrets I truly believe that I couldn't care less. Literally couldn't care less.

  • @Matthijs3476 I guess now we know. Thanks.

  • @frootloopsfan Sungha Jung

  • I have been waiting SO long for Tommy to play close enuff that i might have a chance to see him,,,,But i never imagined he would actually play a little hick town like Redding, CA.! I'm disabled,so i dont have the cash, but,im going to take my bose 901's in and hock them at the local pawn shop. It's the only way i can raise the cash to see him,,,,,,and i wouldnt miss this even if i had another grandbaby comming. • @laine1956 How did it go i can only imagine AWESOME!

  • Crap, I can't do this thing!!!!!!

  • ...It just looks effortless.

Sigh. I'm going to go look for my self esteem now.

  • It always was a hip little tune, but when Tommy plays it,

it sounds like the hippest little tune ever written.

  • one person is mentaly handicapped

  • shredding an acoustic like its nobodies buisness

  • @CanadaRoksEh seriously.. how do you get that ridiculously good at guitar

  • Comment removed

  • Tommy, the reason why many of us pick up the guitar and then 1 month later put it on ebay for sale...

  • the detail on 1:33!!!

  • can anymore tell me if their guitar have an e standard tuning or not?thx and greeting from italy :D

  • @blakielawless666 can anymore tell me if their guitar have an e standard tuning or not?thx and greeting from italy :D

Yes, the guitar is in standard tuning.

  • @markgalloway thx so much :)

  • @blakielawless666

There is an alternate tuning that some players use (discussed in a Ted Greene video that can be found on Youtube). I believe, and I could be mistaken, that the low E string is tuned to B (you will have to purchase different strings for this) and the A string is tuned to E.

Good luck finding the right way to do it.

Greetings to you from Conneaut Lake, PA.

  • @blakielawless666

the guitar is in standard tuning. E,A,D,G,B,E low to high.

  • @markgalloway if he asks for "standard tuning", I think he knows what the standard tuning is ;) :D:D

  • @blakielawless666 No, Mine is not.

  • @blakielawless666

Yes mine is tuned to standard E everytime I choose it to be tuned that way.

  • Difficulty: If your not tommy then you will never play this

  • Who the fk pressed the dislike button?

  • Who the hell DIDN'T like this??? You are an asshole, my friend! Tommy is a friggin' genius and a guitar virtuoso!!

  • the effect at 0.41: Does it even work with a piezo pickup or just with magnetics?

He's slightly bending the neck to lower the pitch. You can do this on electric or acoustic guitar. Just be careful.

  • @markgalloway the neck bends the strings lower so it doesnt matter what pickup he has. It works even without a pickup.

  • @markgalloway Like Tommy says, Don't try this on a Japanese instrument!

  • Respond to this video... There may be a better guitar player on the planet than Tommy, I haven't seen one, but regardless, you won't find one who has more fun playing a guitar than Tommy Emmanuel.

  • the effect at 0.41: Does it even work with a piezo pickup or just with magnetics?

  • *o* I love it !

  • tommy is just soooooooooooooooooooooo cool!

  • Even a simple song is awesome, if i couldnt play any of his songs i would burn my guitars and music equipment, but lucky for me i can, but hes still 10000000 times better that everyone lol

  • all this guy needs is a guitar and he can entertain the masses, amazing :)

  • He looks a lot like Steven Lang in this video!

  • There should be a religion called Emmanuel...

    Awsome!!!

    I'm 13 and I like it

  • what song was he playing right at the opening?

  • @lukeymitch7 Cavatina

  • Pshh, stop filming Tommy and show us the bass player a little! He's got some chops, too! Oh, wait....

  • Life is good when TE's around.

  • Miodek Gitary

  • a master

  • I had the honor to see him play live! I SAW THAT GUITAR :D

  • did you hear the kid at the end YES !!!!!!!! THANK YOU TOMMY!!! lol

  • :O amazingness...

  • WOW..........

  • flag this for amazingness

  • If I could only be a guitar and be abused by Tommy Emmanuel...

  • this guys is a genius... all I have to say.

  • the bass line you can hear at :53 is absolutely unreal.. like there is a 4 string propped up next to him

  • Now that is one abbused guitar!!

  • @digijtal1 I wouldnt say abused, more like well loved :D

  • what really pisses me off is that he probably made the whole up on spot

  • Oh well...I thought my version of pink panther was good. I'm going to go burn all my guitars now....

  • Yeah Tommy has that effect on me too...

  • @scupking nothing compares to him,dont! ;)

  • 1:35 :| NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What is the song from 0:01 to 0:12?

  • sounds like "Cavatina" by Stanley Myers (the theme for the "The Deer Hunter" movie.)

  • It's 'I Fall in Love Too Easily'

  • lol at the gay guy at the end "THANK YOU DARLING!!"

  • LOL! he said "Thank you Tommy"... That was the guy that requested the Pink Panther Theme. :-)

  • lol and the slightly confused look as batman comes from nowhere...awesome

  • dam that groove he sits on at 54 is niiiiice

  • ブラボー!!!サイコー!!!

  • whats the tab? thats so kool!

  • Go to Ultimate Guitar, take the original Mancini tab, drop acid, practice for twenty years and then maybe, mere mortals can tab out Tommy's improvs.

  • @GoldenEars69 Ultimate Guitar is balls :P Tommy did it by ear.

  • so good

  • does he say batman at 2:00? oh hes great

  • HAHAHA YAA! He does! HAHA LOL That guy is my idol. He is funny!

  • Any tabs for that ? @_@

  • I don't have any. There may be some available out there on the net somewhere.

  • I dont think so, im pretty sure this is just a song that tommy worked out easily, like i dont think he's released it on cd. however, if you want a fingerstyle version of the pink panther theme, check out henry mancini's version...there's tabs for it, plus vids on youtube of ppl playin that particular version. hope that helps :)

  • @Bervoment

like you will be able to ever replay what he just did? :)

asking for tabs is completely useless, take the song and make your own rendition indeed, i trust you you will be much more satisfied with it. dont be emmanuel (that is impossible), be yourself.

  • @Bervoment check songsterr

  • @Bervoment Not to crush your dreams or anything, but good luck playing Tommy Emmanuel.

  • @evanlee720 that comments is a year old .. and i play almost every one of his songs .. keep thinking things are imposible and lets see where youll get ya troll :)

  • @Bervoment how would anyone make tabs for scratching and hitting the different part of the guitar body??

  • @Bervoment use your ears and your eyes, and transcribe it yourself.... heaps mmmore rewarding then just reading numbers...

  • @Bervoment trust tabs wont help at all

  • I have seen a guitar that folds in half. Maybe if somebody could use that same concept to make a tremolo for an acoustic guitar where the neck could bend without straining the wood then that would be awesome. Then I wouldn't have to be scared to bend the neck.

  • You can safely bend the neck without worry. Tommy does it all the time.

  • I once heard Tommy say to not do that with a Japanese made instrument. I figured that he was speaking out of experience. I don't play a jap made guitar but would hate to snap a neck. I heard that bassist Billy Sheehan broke necks from it. And I also heard that Tommy had to have his Maton repaired numerous times. I bend the neck anyways. Not much though. Only to accentuate chords.

  • I don't try to bend mine too far either. A slight bend to alter the pitch a little is safe enough. Tommy was joking when he refered to Japanese instruments.

  • @markgalloway

I don't know man, because the neck has a grain which runs in-line with it, which means it has long fibres running down the neck, and you must be - at least to some extent - breaking those fibres when you bend the neck... Not trying to start an argument, obviously, just trying to work out if it really is safe or not. At the moment I wouldn't dream of doing that to my precious acoustic.

  • @LeatherCladVegan its fine as long as you dont overdo it. You wouldnt need to bend it much to change string tension so i believe it would be relatively safe for this purpose.

Necks have truss rods so they are designed to take some stress from flexing.

  • also, about bending the neck, make sure you guitar is not cheap. the glue that binds the neck to the body of the guitar is under immense tension, so don't bend the neck with budget (<$200) guitars!

  • Oops, I bend necks anyways. Just not on electric guitars. I don't wanna slip or crack a neck joint. But on cheap guitars I bend barely a half step down. I never broke one. Billy Sheehan bends his bass necks like wild though.

  • @realguitarist07 hahaha he said that as a JOKE. He plays Australian-made Maton guitars.

    He wasn't actually serious..... *sigh*

  • @markgalloway Slash bent it once and it broke and hit him in the face, must've scared the shit out of him

  • @markgalloway well, maybe YOU can "safely" bend the neck without worry. Tommy can and does because, 1) he's not worried about where his next Maton guitar is coming from - he has 26 (he thinks), and; 2) if it pops, what the hell - it's a $2K guitar. He's broken all three of his touring axes numerous times. I bend my Maton too - but not my $12K Goodall :)

  • @OhBeeg1BanjoV yeh but matons are quality aussie guitars, so they're durable

  • @Jonathan1162 You're preaching to the choir - I have a Maton, and I bend it with vigor (well, probably not QUITE as hard as Tommy does), and they're outstanding guitars, given the price point vs. performance. But again - he's not worried about one guitar. I doubt he's done a show lately that wouldn't buy several of each Maton model :)

  • Greatest acoustic guitarist EVER!

  • wow . i like to make for him a guitar wit bendable neck. cos i play and make guitar. check out coffeetrap billy lee and comment.

  • he has great tallent and great personality

  • I hope everything what he plays is recorded in good quality and will be available onetime, because it's a treasure. What a pearl of art and humour.

  • that was awesome

  • so cool, thanx for posting, tommy really is the best acoustic player i have EVER seen. so dangerously skilled and a nice guy also ^^

  • Finally Australia makes up for Air Supply by providing some real musical genius!

  • It's funny you mention Air Supply. Tommy actually played on some of their records as a studio musician. However, the genius of Tommy's music trancends anything done by Air Supply.

  • yeah go aussie!

  • Greatest guitarist on the planet in my opinion! Can't believe there's a video of him playing this song, he plays it well..(but then again, what don't he play well?)

  • what is the name of the song he plays first?

  • It is called "Intro"

  • Thanks!

  • It's a short Improv/excerpt. of 'Cavatina' by Stanley Myers.

  • Yeah the first part is.

  • @Liengarrd: Yes my comment was in reply to Dizimini but for some reason it wasn't listed with his question :/

  • @Blackbooks

    Ahh okay :)

  • grosso el quía!
