I am knew to this but been reading online. Isn't most of these waves parallel plunging waves ? Meaning you can't ride them out so basically everyone just rides them for a few seconds and expects to just get beat down on by the wave? Also during the summer is their barrel , pit, greenhouse etc waves that occur down the beach from the wedge like say sunset beach but out in the middle of sunset not next to a pier or jetty ? The Wedge is one of the most, if not THE most exciting breaks in California just to watch, for sponging and body boarding. Only 2 like it in the world. It is NOT a hard board break. This video is old. Cops will be on the sand in no-time if you try to use a hard board, for good reason.

huntington city beach is way better the waves are big sometimes mostly about 3 to 5 feet but it isnt as choppy in newport
