I can understand that everyone has different tastes, but I could not imagine ever liking this drink, because its basically straight alcohol! My nose curls just thinking about it. I think you have to be a real drinker to drink this - or am I mistaken? Am I likely to like this?

Bond drinks Vodka Martinis.

Although this is not gospel, a general rule of thumb is:

(Gin) Martini: should be stirred

Vodka Martini: should be shaken

Shaking the drink makes it a lot colder but you tend to "bruise" the drink (break down the ice and create air bubbles). This weakens the drink.

However, as I'm sure you know, It's really just down to taste. Personally I like mine shaken / with a lemon twist.

Yeah i always thought you shook a vodka and stirred a gin. My friends say i mix them pretty well, and they have had them at the best bars and clubs in the city, and it isn't tough to spend a car payment on drinks in new york. I must agree with you too i prefer a lemon twist.
