I think many people don't believe in commitment anymore. For many people, marriage isn't as important as it was and therefore instead of trying to work things out, they just end it - like a coward. We was actually discussing if it was worth it, we figured each other out, something almost broke it all off.
And in some way, I stand by my promise, even when it's hard when we both work so many 10-16 hour days every year.
I think many people just rush into it, they don't really talk it throught, what they want or what they want to have in 5 years.

Marriage is dead and the courts killed it. Why would someone, especially a man, want to get married and risk losing half their assets ? The majority of marriages end in divorce and the court punishes the spouse who makes the most money, which is usually the man, for providing for their spouse.
My advice to anyone, especially men, wanting to get married and have children is: cohabitation, you get all of the benefits of marriage, but you won't have the risk of losing half you assets.

So she is now not earning anything to support herself. You do realize that most men get married for the wrong reasons? Umm....why not just have the wedding, give a her ring, say your vows, and not sign the marriage liscence. She gets the wedding experience she wants, you are married in God's eyes, and the gov't will have no part in it. Common Law Marriage only applies in about 13 states.

I respect the authority of no other man, therefore nobody has the privilege to declare me as married other than myself. This makes it easy for me to practice polygamy because my word is the word of God (3 wives and counting).
