  • WRONGO! This scene was brilliant because of what came just before and just after. Out of context it becomes just like you, clueless. ;) How much did this film gross? And your last film? Ha Ha!!!

  • Even if it is good like other people are saying. The cinematography in this is SOOO bad. Plus the accent he has is terribly fake.

  • i didnt find that weird at all

i would never say this is a horrible scene, strange, but not the worst scene ever

  • People usually speak stupid retarded things when they are drunk. This scene is actually quite realistic.

  • I liked this movie very much, but Lynch is definitely not for everyone.

It is very strange because I am a very big fan, but I could not watch his latest movie.

But Lynch and Kubrick are my favorite directors. I could sit down, watch and enjoy most any movie at any time.

  • this was my favorite scene from the movie! i guess we all can't like the same things...

  • Me too. Loved it. To each their own, I guess.

  • Horrible scene. What annoys me more than the actual Lynch movies, are the Lynch fans; arguing with one is a veritable descent into the depths of pretentiousness. Apparently if you dislike a Lynch film you simply "don't understand it". The obnoxious fanboy comments are to be expected.

  • What annoys me are the people who hate Lynch films because they think the movies try to be intellectual.

And the thing about "understanding it" yes, I guess there are some fanboy idiots who use that line, but getting upset by that line is stupid also.

In the end there is nothing more to understand in Lynch's or any other movie than what you understand. Like or not, just live with it.

  • this movie is a good supplement to the series twin peaks

  • this scene is strange, but the movie in all is fantastic.

  • I don't get the context so it seems pretty bad :D

  • WHAT ????? haha this is by faaarrr not the worst scene in an movie ever. I mean thanks god you're not into Lynchs movies i wouldn't like see your reaction about the locomotions dance of his last movie hahaha!

  • First of all when you show a partial clip of a scene it can make any scene look bad...

Second, it's a David Lynch film... duh!

Third, any scene with Miora Kelly as Donna cannot be bad... just sayin'

  • alot of people are sexually oppressed and thats probably the people who are offended by such a scene

    who gives a shit

this scene rules because it is sleazy

    sleaz on

  • "I am the muffin. "

    Wtf?!

  • this scene is just too deep for us to understand (-.- )

  • Wow this is what you get for having an opinion watercooler, your not allowed to dislike this film lol. Humanity prevails once again...

  • wow, wtf is everyone freaking out about? This scene is pretty damn stupid in my opinion. I agree with watercooler.

  • I really love Twin Peaks... but I will admit... it's a pretty odd scene XD

  • A really great scene. Awesome movie.

  • wow... that was strange... i guess it mgiht fit in with the whole movie, but just by itself it made me think WHAT THE CRAP?

  • It isn't like his opinion of the film is wrong is it? He can say what he wants, if you don't agree with him, thats a good thing, if we all agreed with eachother it would be a boring planet. Im up for a friendly debate anyday. I like this scene aswell :O

  • stoner fest?

  • God...buncha twin peaks groupies arround here.....He musta wrote that shit while on acid...Fuckin gay.

  • david lynch is great because he don´t care about the general public ;-)

thanks for reminding me about that great line, there is no tomorrow, because it will never get here.

  • Calm down you tards.

  • Whats one of the best movies ever then,, marry fecking poppins.. Go and get a perspective. Life doesn't give you all the answers like plastic movies and we don't always live happily ever after.

  • dude, it honestly was hard to watch all the episodes without subtitles. I actually think this is an amazing movie. Very provocative. You must think deep.

  • Okay... don't cut the scene in order to respect the author's work.

Damn... Open your eyes & your brain !!!... or go watch fast & furious or something like that.

  • thats not the whole scene and the poster of this video is a TARD.

    dear watercooler,

why dont you put up highlights of the football playoffs, or clips from the john mayer concert you went to last weekend. keep your simple brain to yourself and off youtube. go fuck your infectred genitalia. go drink busch ice with your fraternity buddies. make a tribute video to "old school" cuz you think its the best/funniest movie ever. TARD! simpleton.

  • Someone really missed the point...

  • It's you.

  • One of the all time BEST scenes ever. And in England we had to watch this without the subtitles. Anyway you've cut it to make it look really stupid whereas it's one of the most frightening and disturbing scenes Lynch has concocted. I could take a scene from any movie and make it look shit. I won't be checking out the rest of your "worst scenes" for that reason. D x

  • love the scene.

  • That's not the complete scene. And it's usually noted as a great scene even by those who thought the film was terrible. There isn't much to wrap your head around - the scene is evocative and very funny.

  • David Lynch's films aren't embraced by general public 'cause they need to be watched by open minded and clever people, and "general public" is... usually stupid.

  • if this were a list about real film (you know not about Lindsey Lohan movies and crap like that) this would be on the Best Film Scenes of All Time.

  • I am the walrus!I'm also the Almighty Byegone!

  • Your video was useless. And that movie is legend. I have great respect for this work.

Worst Movie Scene to some but for those who can truly enjoy this type of work we see nothing but real talent and genius.

This movie is a real great piece.

  • Did you alter the sound of that track? In the original movie (see context) the dialogue has a marginal importance, the dull sound that cover the voices and that atmosphere are the important things. In fact, the persons depicted are very low minded, you can't expect nothing deep going out their mouthes.

  • Never take a scene out of context when the context is so important to it! Lynch is actually incredible and it makes no sense that this should be on this list

  • A great scene from a great movie. You can take anything out of context to make it look bad. Count me in as one more saying this guy doesn't know what he's talking about.

  • I AM THE MUFFIN!

  • Watercooler, go make your dry, dim, lame, appeals-to-the-lowest-common-denominator throw-away films and leave the art to the artists. Jacksonville is a cultural wasteland.

  • this is a awesome scene. i talk wierd shit all the time when i'm drunk. its fun :d

  • PPL PPL this is just a movie, not the worst ever, I used to be a HUGe fan of twin peaks back when i was in my early 20's fack that is sad lol!. this scene is about showing the two sides of laura palmer, the pain of her souls and how sad she is and it leads to why she was murdered, doing shit like this, being a prostitute etc..etc.. see how she is caring when she runs' after donna being licked down by two other men??? but you skip that part.

  • i think it would be nice to be a muffin for a change :D

...of course i would end up eating my head...i only like the muffin top...hmmm...i do have a dilemma there...

  • David Lynch is the greatest movie director of all times. I dont expect people below a IQ of 50 to understand his films

  • It said general...and if every one has such a low IQ then how could we be able to comprehend things like...I don't know go on Youtube....

  • This scene is a surrealistic metaphor which describes Laura's descent into hell or some other lost netherworld. At its core, this is what the television show was about. Twin Peaks was not about the doughnuts, cherry pie or coffee, but the secrets. And not just typical secrets, but dark, horrific secrets, the kind which begin to alter a person's soul. That's what this scene is about and it conveys its intent well. It's obvious watercooler is looking at this from a very "surfacey" perspective.

  • Anybody who thinks this is bad acting obviously doesn't get the context of the scene, they're all fucked up on hard drugs OBVIOUSLY..thats why they're speaking so slowly and saying weird shit.

This is one of my favorite scenes in the movie along with anything having to do with the log lady, the song is coool to. If you want to watch something obvious than don't watch David Lynch or any art film for that matter.

  • "Scenes like this are not movie making, they are a state of mind" (write that in your secret diary!)

  • I love David Lynch. I loved Twin Peaks, and I loved this film. But I agree. This is an awful scene. I always fast forward when it comes up. It's so noisy and the colors are hard to stand for too long. D:

  • "viral" wannabes.

  • this scene makes me wanna go out and party, get drunk, smoke lots of cigarettes and snog one of my male friends lol

  • awesome scene. wtf are u wining about.

  • I actually like this movie and I've never even seen the show.

  • sometimes my arms bend back

  • I will see you again in twentyfive years. ((meanwhile))...

  • does that funny geture with her hands XD

  • yeah because the general public tend to know what's good. that's why the music charts are SO GREAT and bush got a second term!

  • hehehe, true say

  • This is worng. Why is this scene one of the worst in the world? One of the best movies and probably best directors ever. For those who don't understand Lynch, just carry on watching the stupid commercial Hollywood productions

  • Wow you are truly shallow and brainless. David Lynch is very successful and he is not embraced by many because many of society hold absolutely no depth..I guess you are part of that club. You are advertisting how ignorant you are in stead of asking questions to the ones who completely identify with this scene.

  • Wow- Are all you Lynch fans this fucked up?

  • LOL...who knows..but if we are than at least were F(&ed up and not boring.

  • Well that's a good thing, cymbeli.I think{?}.And I will give you this-The one thing I don't recall ever being while watching Lynch's stuff is bored.

  • You have to understand it to enjoy it, kid.

  • As I recall if you can suffer through this drek for another minute you get to see Sheryl's tits. That's not a bad trade.

  • I LOVED the tv show and I really liked a couple of David Lynch's other films (LOVED Blue Velvet), but I do agree that this movie is not good at all....and that is being kind.

  • i have no idea how good this film is because i watched it on my own in bed and was so freaked out by it that i kept turning over and missed about one third of it! there was a sense of genuine malevolance in Fire Walk With Me that i cant say i've felt watching many other films. I need to try it again now i'm a bit older!

  • not a david lynch fan. hahahahahahahahahahahaha.

    that would make a great t-shirt :)

  • you know what they say about critics, those who can't whine.

  • I am the Muffin! WTF!!! THis is both retarded and brilliant at the same time!!

  • Which is why I love Twin Peaks, but....

  • If you think this is one of the worst movie scenes, then you are fucked up. Get some balls.

  • this is one of the best scenes ever nob end, u could take anythin out of context and make it seem random, foolish endeavour tryin to make twin peaks look stupid

  • *head explodes*

  • You are irritating.

  • The strobe effect is against everything what you learn in film school. Luckily Lynch can overcome such general don'ts which do not work in most of the cases but does work as in this scence. The dialogue is spoken in an unusual tone which adds to the weirdness of the scene and the aim is not to tell Laura's story documentary style but in a way we the viewers are emotionally involved. It is an mostly expressionist scene. "Duuu nit verstandn hssst, seeee flm"

  • amazing film, was a big fan of the series, can't believe it's 18 years old now

  • I am a huge fan of the tv show and movie. This scene is hot, honest, raw, stripped down... It shows how out of control Laura's life was at times. Behind the beauty, there was a very dark side crying out.

  • best music ever.

  • one of the best scenes in the movie - period. The whole movie is great. She is the muffin period and that gent is the great Went! Period! "i dont get David lynch - i dont like his movies" = go watch a mindless action movie that requires no brain activity - you will enjoy that much more. Thanks - "the log tells me things"

  • haha you stup

id fucks you people dont understand shite

  • The worst? Idiots.The best!

  • This is a great scene. Better than any second of Titanic.

  • They're obviously on something. The scene makes perfect sense. And this scene is actually really amazing.

  • I love this scene! This film is far better than most people would have you believe. I think its one of Lynch's best.

  • i don't think most people could handle that it was so much more raw and intense than the TV show

  • If you honestly think this is a badly done scene, you need help. its one of the most innovative, captivating sequences in cinema history, in a film that for once has the balls to be different and otherworldly.

    so piss off, watercooler!

  • LOVEEE thus scene cause its dark and sexy x

  • I once met a woman who was a muffin.

  • what does this mean "se is a muffin"?

  • Muffin is anachronistic US slang for female genitalia. So when Laura says, 'I am the Muffin', she's just stating what and all she is to the men.

  • thanks a lot, my english vocabulary became larger

  • It truly sucks to be a muffin.

  • Not if you're full of delicious raisins.

  • I honestly hope people view the entire movie and decide for themselves. ESPECIALLY young people or those who might be unfamiliar with Lynch or Twin Peaks.

At the very least I hope one would view more than this tiny clip you've provided before taking your opinion of it too seriously.

  • I am the walrus.

  • She's the muffin:-)

  • Must say it is very Lynch-like. Classic David.

  • "This brief moment from the Twin Peaks movie FIRE WALK WITH ME is one of the reasons that people look at his work and just can't wrap their heads around it."

Nah, that'll be because you're a twat, mate. MERE MORTALS ARE NOT FIT TO LICK THE SHOES OF LYNCH.

  • Sounds like a rendition of the Festrunk Brothers.

  • Worst movie scene ever made, my a**!

When it comes to poetic surrealism, David Lynch is da king of them all!

  • you sound stupid. this is classic.

  • - I am the Great Went!

    - I am the Muffin.

  • fuck off, best movie ever

  • worst scene my ass, lynch is a genius PERIOD

  • This was my favourite scene in the film.

  • Makes sense to me. They're pissed up at the club, he says there's no tomorrow (cos when you get there its today obviously) he says some gibberish as he's off his face and she takes the piss out of him by apeing his fake name comment. What's confusing about this? This is really straight forward for Lynch. I think the reason most people don't like Lynch is because they are stupid. Having said that, at times he's blatantly mocking the people who buy into all he's selling. Nice.

  • Worst scene ever?

    Whats wrong with you..?

Perhaps you prefer "The Princess Diaries" instead of Laura's.. hahaha

  • chief wiggum....donteat...thecloooz!

  • i think this is one of the most interesting scenes of the movie... not this cut, specially, but this act at all

  • I think I like David Lynch for the same reason you dislike him. I love the atmosphere he brings to his films.

  • the best movie!!!!!!!!!! fwwm

  • I am the Treecreeper.

Good call. The worst thing about the movie is how Leland was protrayed as an abusive bastard, thus destroying the entire point of the character.

  • I couldnt disagree more. Atmospheric, unexpected and RED with upcoming murder...the scene is placed where it should be.

  • Also, note the too obvious similarities between the Black Lodge and this place: redness, people talking in subtitles..or more far-fetched, people's bad sides coming out.

  • Funny I often cite this as one of the best scenes of all time? To each their own.

  • I always thought the sub-titles were because you could not understand us Canadians, eh? Ah, but it is much deeper. The music was loud, and you needed to hear what was being said. The beer game being played is done every night in bars around the world, trying to get the naive girl to give up some nookie. It also cut out a better line that was coming up. Jacques puts hand to head, shoots himself and says he is blank as a fart. Good line! And really, aren't we all....as blank as a fart sometimes?

  • I can't fault this scene personally. Each to their own though :-)

  • You left out the part where he says, "I'm as blank as a fart." which makes it one of the BEST movie scenes of all time. And how dare you use Andy Kaufman music in your petty, bullsh*t opinion piece. No one cares.

  • Tardbot5000 has spoken!

  • This is an awesome scene but you need to warch it in context of the film! If you don't like Lynch then don't even bother!

  • This film is David Lynch's worst effort. The TV show is much better. Also, wht did they replace Donna?

  • They replaced Donna because Lara Flynn Boyle declined her offer to be in the film. Well that's what i read somewhere. Hope that helped.

  • Actually, Lara had to turn it down due to a prior filming engagement she already had. She would have been in the film had it been on a different or later schedule than Lynch's, she is confirmed as saying this.

  • Thanks for clearing that up for me.

  • I've seen worse...ever see "Mac and Me?"

  • I dont think this is a bad scene by any means. Twin Peaks is a fucked up place with alot of fucked up people, most of all The Palmers.

  • Worst my ass. You're just not smart enough to realise what Lynch is about.

  • Exactly.

  • ha! I think its great. I think its horrible out of context but as a whole its perfect.

  • Terrible scene from an otherwise good movie. :)

  • I'm the muffin... LOL

  • this is a great scene especially the set: lights and stuff, great

  • I am the muffin.....

  • this is a fantastic film and the scene ain't too bad.

  • I am quite interested in Donna, who seems lost and out of place in such highly ribald settings.

Her wide-eyed naivete sets up a tension which is palpable -- that she is in danger of being corrupted by bad company.

    Just my thoughts.

  • OOh, she is about to be corrupted for sure, wink, wink.

    "DOOOOOOOOONNNNNNAAAAA!"

  • WOW FUCK YOU!

  • they change the sound, because in the original version it was, voluntarly, impossible to hear this conversation... maybe better indeed!!!

    David I Love you!!!

  • Aww, my comment didn't go through.

This is the first time you're making me shake my head out of disappointment.

David Lynch is a monument of WTF. You can't call out a scene of his for being random and fucked up. That's like grabbing a needle out of stack of needles.

Not to mention all of his films are great, but to each his own.

  • Are you kidding? This is like the second best scene behind where Laura says "Fire Walk With Me."

Oh, I see, you didn't leave in the part where he says "I am as blank as a fart."

  • great scene from a great film

  • Um...

Alright, having no context here, I am sure I am missing a lot. But I just can't see how anyone could say this is the best scene in the film. If so, I have no interest in seeing it.

But again, I don't have any context.

  • The scene aptly communicates the time distortions and haze of a drug daze. You should perhaps stick to understanding mainstream action films.

  • That is so true....makes me want to go party all night and it's only Tuesday!

  • joo arh dum

  • Funny, this is actually the best scene in the movie (and one of the best scenes Lynch has ever directed). Taking this little snippet out of context, i.e. the sense of ominous dread that Lynch builds up over the previous 5 minutes, and putting it on a little, pixalated screen doesn't do it any favors though. Anyway, if you're going to include ridiculous lines where's the one about the fart? That one's hard to top...

  • His work isnt for the general public ...i think this is one of the best scenes of all movie , but you just don't figure it out .

  • I love the latest Lynch (except maybe Inland Empire) and I know FWWM isn't a full masterpiece, but I think David Lynch MEANT this scene to be "trivial" and "bad", to show us what Laura Palmer was going through. I simply can't understand how (some) people can/could laugh at or mock this.

SPOILERS: among other things, the film deals with drugs, sexual violence, love-death and child abuse. How can people laugh at these things?

  • if you think this is one of the worst movie scenes you're justa a fucking retard

  • What a brilliant critique from an obvious genius. Let me guess, a Brian DePalma fan? Nope, even Sisters would be too sophisticated for ya.

  • Even things that are artistic and deep can still be crap...not to say that Twin Peaks is, but there are far too many people who scoff at the "general public" while blindly embracing anything cryptic and artsy in the same manner that the public embraces anything predictable and non-threatening

  • It's hard to justify this as one of the worst movie scenes ever if you only choose to show us a tiny bit of the entire scene, wich is in fact one of the longer scenes in the movie.

To say the general public has a hard time wrapping their head around Lynch's work is more of a compliment than a criticism tough...

  • I actually this scene very much. Here in the UK we didn't get the subtitles and the dialogue was unhearable which I think was the point. Like most of Lynch, it works on a purely visual level. I am a total horror buff - I will watch ANY horror movie - and whilst this isn't strictly a horror movie it's quite simply the most frightening movie ever made. It puts me in a really bad place whenever I watch it which isn't often, obviously.

  • I couldn't agree with you more.

  • Hee hee. Believe it or not me and a mate got talking about Twin Peaks and he'd never seen the film so I sat through it with him. Yep, as frightening as ever. Don't know why I do it to myself. Fantastic film, however. And why didn't Sheryl Lee have a bigger career? She's amazing.

  • Actually the scene is much longer. You are just making yourself look stupid here. I personally think FWWM is one of the best films i've seen and the scene is brilliant.

  • Hahaha, that does look pretty stupid all by it's self. That's one of my favorite parts of the movie though.

  • the "general public" dont know jack about great movies.

  • I bought the first series, including pilot. on DVD and just watched it last week. I was aware of Twin Peaks on UK TV at the time but I was slightly too young to appreciate it. So I didn't really watch it. I wish I had.

My point was though, did you spot any other Beatles allusions in Twin Peaks? I did.

  • Yeah, you saw something in Twin Peaks didn't you? That was no random post. Why not elaborate?

  • RE: "One reason David Lynch films aren't embraced by the general public..."

David Lynch is a creative genius. The general public for the most part does not appreciate creative genius. They want predictable, typical, easy to follow storylines that require no thinking on their end, and a happy ending.

  • Or they don't appreciate pretentious, smugly cryptic, mock-surrealist nonsense that never reaches a conclusion and is then faithfully adopted by affected wannabe snobs like you despite the fact you don't understand the import of Lynch's films anymore than the average Joe does.

When you made your post, did it make you feel big?

  • wow, you seem to know a lot about this guy. so you know if he understands lynch's movies or not? you're such an ass.

if you actually did some research on lynch you'd see he was anything but smug and pretentious. if you don't like his films, don't watch them, and don't take personal offense to someone who speaks the truth about the fat, intellectually and physically lazy general public. that's not acting superior, that's speaking the truth. disagree? go cry about it some more, asshole.

  • "the fat, intellectually and physically lazy general public"

Who's generalising now? Have you met every person in "the public"?

And again, superiority boy, show me YOUR works.

"go cry about it some more, asshole"

Oh no. I'm so hurt I'm going to stop posting on YouTube. I'll do so on the advice of the genius intellectual and profound artist who called me "asshole".

  • I AM THE MUFFIN.

  • what song is this?

  • This song is called "The Pink Room". It was written by Lynch. I'm not sure who performed it. Lynch has written several songs with this tone and atmosphere. "Ghost of Love" from the Inland Empire soundtrack, "Go Get Some" from Mulholland Drive, and some original music from The Lost Highway. Check out the soundtracks as well as the complete recordings of David Lynch. There's quite a wealth of creativity there.
