These are the creators! and I'm proud when I say I knew them! Lil Lep was my good friend's Cynthia's guy for a long time! I remember when a piece of cardboard and music would make Benny, P-man, Anthony and Lil Ray dance...that's all it took. My two sons have always been inspired by your dancing moves NYC breakers! Beat Street has been a movie I always treasured even though they didn't give u the credit nor the $ that was deserved! My son Jon Lock is 24 n dances like Mr Wave, props to all of u!
BACK THEN WHEN TALKING ABOUT SOME STREET SHIT WASNT CLICHE OR SOMETHING TO BRAG ABOUT. ALSO BACK THEN WHEN MOTHER WERENT CALLING THIS SHIT " HIP HOP " ( FUCK HIP HOP ). RESPECT TO NYCB FOR PUTTING WORK IN AND INNOVATING MANY OF THE SHIT THAT THEY DONT GET CREDIT FOR THESE DAYS BY MANY OF THE NEW GENERATION. I'M A PART OF THE NEW, BUT I ALSO TRY RESEARCH AND GIVE RESPECT TO THE OG'S. I'M ALSO PROBABLY ONE OF THE FEW VATOS IN CALI THATS NOT DOING IT FOR THE MONEY AND FAME WHILE KEEPING MYSELF UGRD
WOW, I can't believe I found this video. I used to be in the same class with Chino and Mathew (R.I.P.) back at JHS 143 in the BX. I remember those days like yesterday. I also remember when the cardboard box would open and the show would begin, crazy legs was insane !!! Man, those were the days! I don't know if Chino would remember me if he saw me but he was a great kid back then. What's up Chino? From Louie Ahmetaj (JHS 143 + JFK HS)
Haha...yea crumbs had a pony tail didn't he! Ar rite kool.. I only thought there was one version of sytycd - the american one. Thing is with that show the actual HipHop category isn't even Breakin/poppin or lockin...it's stand up choreo!! which is pretty wack...since when did that become HipHop dance..no disrespect to choreo but dam get it right! millions of ppl are gunna see that, ya get me.
@bboyStuntZ My mum won a camera & I filmed everything to see how to improve - I still have most of it...I had curtains for a hair cut tho back in the late 90's so that's a bit embarrassing lol. Seen sum of yr vids B-boy - yr dope. Did u get far in so u think u can dance?
@19daze98 Hey well Crumbs had long hair back in the day too. haha. But yeah thanks yo. It was season 2, and I made it to the finals on that show and den quit. I only wanted to prove I could make it so that was good enough for me. Plus SYTYCD was interfering with other stuff dat I wanted to do.
Powerful Pexster NYC Breakers I'm in my 40's and I'm still breaking so I am still the powerful Pex and blessed to rock the moves I made up so if I could do it when your my age you can do it!!!
@powerfulpexsternycb respect and props to ya pexster! i always give mention to pexster and even lil alex, when i get asked for tutorials or power tips i always give a small history mention, and NYCB was always a big inspiration for me.. even today im 23 and i do like one handed airflares etc- yo its just the move that lil alex was doing way back but with one hand- :D so yeah thanks pexster and to your homies that i dont know, props and respect to the pioneers and innovators..
Keep it street, keep it art and expression...never a sport. Always underground artistic expression, not acrobatics. That is the dance that I grew up with and loved all my life. Peace from NYC.
Yo! can I just thank u 4 this rare footage. the picture quality's good, whenever u get these rare footage things the pictures are usually terrible. I also learnt what NYCB's real names were - LOL! thanx again

As far as I'm concerned. Both NYC Breakers and Rock Steady ignited this element of hip-hop. They will always be recognized as Breakdancing Immortals!

I think the Rock Steady crew has programs for young kinds over in Hunt's Point in the youth center.
NYC breaker's might have something similar but those dudes are in their 40's not (like me :) and probably not breaking anymore.
