@mixstealer300 We have been told by means of my coworker the fact that he went on and got a good deal better in the game of basketball applying 50-inch-vertical[dot]com - maybe you want to try that
@ProjectCosmos Stromile Swift had 19 points in a quarter against Jefferson's Celtics in a game when Swift was filling in for an injured Pau Gasol in Jefferson's rookie year.
@jonw82 If Stromile has a low Basketball IQ (he doesn't) why did the Grizzlies have success with him initiating their offense at the top of the key under Hubie Brown and Mike Fratello two years in a row? If you actually watched him you would know that he played a key role for two consecutive playoff teams for the Grizzlies, and did the heavy lifting at the center position while Pau Gasol, taller and heavier than Swift, was coddled and allowed to play Power Forward so he could have a mismatch
@Ragtime4 Oh dear. I can respond really easily.. if Stromile had high basketball IQ, why didn't he average 20 and 10 and reach his potential to be a starter? Go post a topic in Team Talk on the GrizzliesDOTcom message boards, I am sure you will get many people agreeing with your line of thought. His nickname over there, is "slowmile" by the way. Strotential is another term used alot. Hasheem Thabeet has alot of Strotential.
@jonw82 How can he average 20 points if the team doesn't get him the ball? If you had seen him play for the Grizzlies, you would know that he was a big man for them, a Center for most of his minutes. Therefore, he was dependent on other players to get him the ball. His career high for field goal attempts (shots) per game is only 9. Even if he averaged 100% shooting, he would only have gotten 18 points per game. Your point that lack of points per game has anything to do with IQ is idiotic at best
@PrimetimeWill Even though he has never been one of the better players of the league, i still think he has one of the best styles in dunking in Nba history.
Yea he definitely shitted on Ming. It was funny though because after he dunked it ming was looking around like "I know that shit couldn't have went in". Nice vid, but take that damned advertisemnent off!
Wrong....don't even try that bullshit. Michael was and is to self to lose..Unlike swift he was determine to win at all cost and that what got mike over the edge. His KILLER INSTINCT!!! As time went on mike filled in the holes in his game.
Michael Jordan never got over the edge by himself. It wasn't until Scottie Pippen joined the Bulls that the Bulls advanced past round one of the playoffs (Pippen was a phenomenal athlete too, mind you)
What holes in his game did he successfully fill? His three point shooting percentage was inconsistent throughout his career.
It was always his explosive athleticism that gave him a physical edge. It takes work ethic to be such a phenomenal athlete, which both Jordan and Swift are/were.
Swift has filled holes in his game, and has become a better player with experience. Statistically, his FG% is exactly the same as Scottie Pippen, which is very good considering Swift has often been miscast by poor coaches as a post-up player against much bigger players at the center position.
Also, Stromile's career was much different than Michael Jordan. As a rookie, Jordan was given almost 40 minutes per game, and started 82 games. Stromile didn't start 82 games total until his 6th year..
@SDSOverfiend Ummm that's kinda the point behind being an athlete... is being athletic... YOU DUMB FUCK! seriously all the fucking faggots like this piece of shit right here need to get a fucking life and stop posting stupid fucking shit trying to discredit NBA players.
@ironbull2003 WOW don't you feel powerful? 11 Months after the fact.. Eat a dick you loser. His athletism got him is the NBA and not having a legit game got him out of it. Case Closed. Scream call me out, curse, carry on with Stro's Dick in your mouth you fucking Cornball.
@SDSOverfiend the only loser here is the faggot that's trying to fucking rip on a dude that's got talent...if he didn't have the skills, nobody would have signed him in the first place... shut the fuck up and go eat a dick
@SDSOverfiend David Lee doesn't play defense, and Stromile Swift proved himself to be an elite shot blocker.... but David Lee has the complexion to make the connection. Big money for Lee and losing season after losing season. Swift had the GRIZZLIES in the postseason 2 years in a row in his 4th and 5th seasons, after a rookie year where he barely played. Lee has so far never been to the playoffs. Last time the Knicks made the playoffs was when they had Mutombo.
@Ragtime4 "Swift had the Grizzlies in the post season" LMAO. I guess if Grizz make the playoffs at the end of this season, will there be some crackpot on here saying "Arthur got the Grizzlies into the post season". Stro had about as much control in getting to the playoffs as Earl Watson did. He was a part of the team, and he played a role.. that's it. Unlike Earl, Stro could have been alot more. When Stro was at his best, he could dominate both ends of the floor for a few minutes at a time.
@jonw82 If you had followed Stromile after he left, you might have seen his former coach Hubie Brown saying the same thing. Announcer Mike Breen attacked Stromile's "consistency" and Hubie responded by saying that Stromile played a key role for the Griz by playing undersized at the center position and doing a great job. Stromile had a better +/- than the starter Lorenzen Wright.
@Ragtime4 True Respect.. I was just telling my Brother the Grizz one 56 games one year behind Hubie and he retired again after he laid the ground work.
@jonw82 The first year the Griz made the playoffs, Stromile was key in the Griz month of March '04, filling in for the injured Lorenzen Wright and getting rare extended minutes. The team set a franchise record for best month, going 13-2 with Stromile getting big minutes. You're right when you say Stro could dominate both ends of the floor for a few minutes at a time, but only because he only ever played a few minutes at a time. Stromile could dominate entire games but rarely got the opportunity.
@Ragtime4 I saw Stromile play. I probably have at least 20 games on my PC that Stromile is in. Go join Grizz forums on official site, they will get more a kick out this discussion with you then I do. You like Stromile, I get it. I am bored. I liked Shane Battier and Mike Miller, doesn't mean they deserved 30 shots a game or were Hall of Famers. Start a topic called "Stromile Swift had a high basketball IQ and talk about how he should have had more shots and more minutes".
@Ragtime4 You right My dude. you right.. Shit in fact the Knicks can use him right NOW. Big Man to clog the Middle Block and grab boards. I like him but the NBA did him dirty on some things.
@SDSOverfiend Would love to see him and Amare playing together! Amazing that Wilson Chandler started right away in career and Stromile never has had the same opportunity. Chandler has had three straight years of 30+ minutes per game, and has yet to match Stromile's career high in blocks per game of 1.7, set when he played 26mpg. Stromile put up as many or more blocks as Chandler in half the playing time.
@Ragtime4 Sometimes its being in the wrong place at the wrong time with bullshit Niggas in charge. I love the Boy's game noboubt and With a guard like Nash Stromile can finish out his career on a high note. But seriously though. New York cause use this boy right now my gripe is Felton man..Nigga don't know how to pass the ball with efficiency. As far as chandler goes He a top notch bench player to me. He's to soft and plays like he afraid of contact. He better coming off the bench.
@SDSOverfiend Stromile's time with Nash was extremely disappointing. Nash didn't run a single pick and roll for Stromile the whole time he was there. Nash didn't do much of anything to try to get Stromile involved in the flow of the team. There's a vid on youtube, 'Stromile Swift 3 pointer vs Portland' where you can see Nash freezing Swift out of the offense even when he has a mismatch.
@SDSOverfiend On Felton, my criticism would be that with the amount of shots he takes, he doesn't shoot a high enough percentage or get to the line enough. He should distribute a bit more and shoot a bit less. He's having a career year statistically but that's due to having more posessions per game due to D'Antoni's fast pace playing style.
@Ragtime4 Yeah thats what im talking about.. It seems like if he gets to the cup his first instinct is to try to school rather than dish off and like other Niggas eat before he can get his. If Steve nash did just that then he is a bitch ass nigga for that one. Do you think he did'nt want to made amare mad or some shit know he is the primary P&R guy? Cause what Warrick is doing Stro can do the same shit.
@SDSOverfiend I honestly don't know why Nash didn't reach out more to Stromile. My guess would be that Nash and Shaq already weren't getting along, and Stromile came in and was on Shaq's side. That's my only guess. On Warrick, he's averaging 0.1 blocks per game this season in 20minutes per game. Stromile would destroy that number playing in a fast paced system. Warrick has always been really bad defensively in the paint... I watched him for a few years in Memphis.
@SDSOverfiend Michael Jordan wouldn't be the player we know him as without his athleticism. Look at what Shaq is without his athleticism. Just sayin..
@ccranmog Case in point.. Old Man Mike. Fadeaway, Basic know how of the game. In the beginning he was pure athletic force. Once got older he took time to learn the fundamentals over.
@SDSOverfiend Dude I never disputed the fact that fundamentals are important to the game and I know having them gives players major advantages in the game. I was stating that the Michael Jordan we know would not be the same Michael Jordan we know if he did not have his athleticism. Up until his second comeback he had the combination of fundamentals and athleticism which made him an unstoppable scorer. Otherwise he'd be the Tim Duncan of shooting guards which equals great but not "Jordan".
@ccranmog True dat but notice that athletism did'nt do shit against the pistons until he applied the fundamentals on offense that made him very unstoppable.
@BALLERSK the right way... the basic fundamentals are gone. He lacked some of the basic fundamentals to get him over. Midrange jumper,Post-moves on mismatches. ETC. Defensively he was sound. a excellent shot blocker and good rebounder. a little to light in the ass to be a dominant force.
one of the coachs at my school use to work for the grizzles, and he said that the reason why stromile sucked dick, was cuz he was dumb as HELL, also that he supposingly touched 14'3
I'm not saying this guy is the best dunker ever, but he makes dunking look the easiest it seems like. I know he's tall, but he makes stuff look so easy like its not even fun. But overall, a bust
a bust? lol u a hater what nba team u play for? he been the league almost 10yrs getting paid u no who he is he dont no you your a fan member that no your place
So since he got paid for ten years and I know who he is that makes him not a bust? He was the 2nd overall pick in the draft and hasn't made one ASG and averages 8.4 points and 4.6 rebounds without winning anything. If that isn't the definition of a bust then I don't know what is
you dont no him i went to school with him from grammar to college thats no him! and his job aint to score 30,40.50 pts his job is to control the paint kinda like the fake birdman chris. or kenyon hasnt won anything? he is in the nba he is a winner a bust is a person who throws glass from the outside u prolly cant make the varsity bball team u dont become a tenre in the nba and be a bust. just because he has reached YOUR expectations nba coaches and scouts like em oh what nba team you play for?
You went to school with him from grammar school to LSU? I fear for you because you should've learned how to form sentences and spell from all that school. And no, he hasn't won anything, and I said he was a bust as a basketball player, which you seem to think means I'm saying he's a bust as a person. I won't claim to know him all I know that if I'm a GM and have a second overall pick and get the production from my pick that Swift has had, I'm disappointed
lol who spells on u tube and i can spell very well if you took a college course no that im misspellin on purpose its called 'play on words" mark twain did it as did several authors. now mr spell check. lets say this name a bust that lasted 10 yrs in hoop baseball or football name 5 bust is a word or term for high draft pics that dont pan out and they usually dont last for example chris washburn my point is your not a gm nor an athlete or very good. and again what team do u play for ?
A play on words is a pun or a saying having multiple meanings. Mark Twain wrote like that so that his characters would have accents and the book would have more culture. Never did I say I was in the NBA but I played high school and college hoops. Chris Washburn only played for like two seasons. Shawn Bradley, Kwame Brown, Sam Bowie, Jonathon Bender and Darko Milicic. And when you spell like that I can't understand what the fuck you are saying
his dunks remind me of dominique wilkins. im not comparing the players, but wilkins had a great mix of power and finesse, stro has that too. hopefully stro can get his career on track with pheonix. this guy should be dominant
cmon you cant really mean that. of course stromile is athletic and has long arms but that only makes him a spectacular and in no way a complete player. whereas stoudemire has developed into a solid midrange shooter with an almost unstoppable drive to the basket. hes a strong defender and can put in sweet layups. not to mention the lowpost game. i agree that stromile hasnt lived up to the expectations and is a wasted talent but you cant deny amare being the greater talent
Stromile is also a solid midrange shooter with all the skills of Amare but much more commitment to playing team defense. Amare's edge is that he has a little more size, but Swift has more quickness and more commitment to defense.
Before playing under coach D'Antoni and alongside Steve Nash Amare was shooting the same percentage as Stromile, but it shot up under D'Antoni.
What would be awesome is Swift and Amare on the same team in the same starting lineup.

Ragtime4 1 year ago
@SDSOverfiend Michael Jordan wouldn't be the player we know him as without his athleticism. Look at what Shaq is without his athleticism. Just sayin..
ccranmog 8 months ago
@ccranmog Case in point.. Old Man Mike. Fadeaway, Basic know how of the game. In the beginning he was pure athletic force. Once got older he took time to learn the fundamentals over.
SDSOverfiend 8 months ago
@SDSOverfiend Dude I never disputed the fact that fundamentals are important to the game and I know having them gives players major advantages in the game. I was stating that the Michael Jordan we know would not be the same Michael Jordan we know if he did not have his athleticism. Up until his second comeback he had the combination of fundamentals and athleticism which made him an unstoppable scorer. Otherwise he'd be the Tim Duncan of shooting guards which equals great but not "Jordan".
ccranmog 8 months ago
@ccranmog True dat but notice that athletism did'nt do shit against the pistons until he applied the fundamentals on offense that made him very unstoppable.
SDSOverfiend 8 months ago
@SDSOverfiend lol like all nba athletes cant play basketball :D:D u kill me :D
BALLERSK 8 months ago
@BALLERSK the right way... the basic fundamentals are gone. He lacked some of the basic fundamentals to get him over. Midrange jumper,Post-moves on mismatches. ETC. Defensively he was sound. a excellent shot blocker and good rebounder. a little to light in the ass to be a dominant force.

At 5:12 i pretty sure the old white guy with the gray hair had a heart attack after witnessing Stro's dunk. First row, 3rd or 4th one from the right.
wDOZEw 2 years ago
I'm not saying this guy is the best dunker ever, but he makes dunking look the easiest it seems like. I know he's tall, but he makes stuff look so easy like its not even fun. But overall, a bust
UNCbasketball610 2 years ago
a bust? lol u a hater what nba team u play for? he been the league almost 10yrs getting paid u no who he is he dont no you your a fan member that no your place
bootboyupt 2 years ago
So since he got paid for ten years and I know who he is that makes him not a bust? He was the 2nd overall pick in the draft and hasn't made one ASG and averages 8.4 points and 4.6 rebounds without winning anything. If that isn't the definition of a bust then I don't know what is
UNCbasketball610 2 years ago
you dont no him i went to school with him from grammar to college thats no him! and his job aint to score 30,40.50 pts his job is to control the paint kinda like the fake birdman chris. or kenyon hasnt won anything? he is in the nba he is a winner a bust is a person who throws glass from the outside u prolly cant make the varsity bball team u dont become a tenre in the nba and be a bust. just because he has reached YOUR expectations nba coaches and scouts like em oh what nba team you play for?
bootboyupt 2 years ago
You went to school with him from grammar school to LSU? I fear for you because you should've learned how to form sentences and spell from all that school. And no, he hasn't won anything, and I said he was a bust as a basketball player, which you seem to think means I'm saying he's a bust as a person. I won't claim to know him all I know that if I'm a GM and have a second overall pick and get the production from my pick that Swift has had, I'm disappointed
UNCbasketball610 2 years ago
lol who spells on u tube and i can spell very well if you took a college course no that im misspellin on purpose its called 'play on words" mark twain did it as did several authors. now mr spell check. lets say this name a bust that lasted 10 yrs in hoop baseball or football name 5 bust is a word or term for high draft pics that dont pan out and they usually dont last for example chris washburn my point is your not a gm nor an athlete or very good. and again what team do u play for ?
bootboyupt 2 years ago
A play on words is a pun or a saying having multiple meanings. Mark Twain wrote like that so that his characters would have accents and the book would have more culture. Never did I say I was in the NBA but I played high school and college hoops. Chris Washburn only played for like two seasons. Shawn Bradley, Kwame Brown, Sam Bowie, Jonathon Bender and Darko Milicic. And when you spell like that I can't understand what the fuck you are saying

This comment has received too many negative votes show
He's better than Stoudamire but his coaches were not as good as D'Antoni so he hasn't had the opportunity to show his stuff.
Ragtime4 3 years ago
cmon you cant really mean that. of course stromile is athletic and has long arms but that only makes him a spectacular and in no way a complete player. whereas stoudemire has developed into a solid midrange shooter with an almost unstoppable drive to the basket. hes a strong defender and can put in sweet layups. not to mention the lowpost game. i agree that stromile hasnt lived up to the expectations and is a wasted talent but you cant deny amare being the greater talent
heimaheiner 3 years ago 2
Stromile is also a solid midrange shooter with all the skills of Amare but much more commitment to playing team defense. Amare's edge is that he has a little more size, but Swift has more quickness and more commitment to defense.
Before playing under coach D'Antoni and alongside Steve Nash Amare was shooting the same percentage as Stromile, but it shot up under D'Antoni.
What would be awesome is Swift and Amare on the same team in the same starting lineup.
Ragtime4 3 years ago
soon they will be... but hands down AMARE is wayyyyyyy better than SWIFT! stop being one sided...
Amare = rookie of the year & nba all star & has more facials than any other player in NBA history!

hopefully he plays tonight and tears it up against the heat
