  • I was stationed there 1970-74. Minoters are the most wonderful people I've ever met. I have fond memories of Minot when it had almost nothing there. The Broadway Bridge was wood... There was a USO downtown. Gas was 50 cents a gallon. We'd go swimming at Old Settler's Park. The town ended at the drive in. Everything was closed on Sunday except the churches. God bless you all. (I can't help but notice there is nobody standing on the bridge screaming for government help.) Thanks for the video.

  • i subsribed because I LIVE in minot,(AKA The magic city) ND

  • Holy moley! glad i live in manitoba where there is no flooding

  • The house at 2:39 seconds where they are cleaning stuff out of the house is the one I lived in when my older daughter was born. :)

  • @NOCENTTPG How is the melting of a huge winter snow pack and heavy Canadien spring rain the work of the U.S. government ? Man, whatever you are smoking , I only got one thing to say......... GET ME SOME !

  • can u say " jericho"!

  • Great job editing and putting together this piece of film. Although it showed a lot of places that are now under water, it gave me a sense of the heart and resilience of the people of my hometown Minot in trying to save their belongings and property. God bless the amazing people of Minot, and I know they are going to come back stronger than ever. Thank you for posting.

  • @roach8645 - Thank you. We have news reporters from around the world here now. It was a CNN reporter who asked the Minot mayor "if more than 11,000 people were displaced by the flood, why is there only 250 in shelters?" People help each other here, people look out for each other here. Many people who didn't have to be evacuate helped out and have helped to house those who had to leave. I've lived all over the US and have never found anyting to come close to the spirit of the ND people.

  • I wished you could loan us some of that rain down here, it hasn't rained here in any significant amount for months.

  • I lost my house due to this flood.. the sad part is..its not even crested yet.. =/

  • Wait I thought it was the Souris river not the Mouse river?

  • @JonLeibow The river starts in Canada as the Souris river. As it crosses the US boarder and flow into the US, it is renamed the Mouse River. The Mouse River flows south to Minot ND and then starts to flow back North to Canada. As the Mouse River flows back into Canada from North Dakota, it is then called the Souris as it enters Canada. This is a silly thing when even people in North Dakota call it the Mouse and Souris, when in fact it's the same river!

  • @rktman56 Thanks for clearing that up, I'd heard both terms so often I thought maybe Minot had two rivers.

  • @rktman56 Souris = Mouse in french, it is not 'RENAMED', sorry kinda found that funny... yes souris = mouse mouse = souris, french or English, guess ya'll northdakotans are french, cause ya call it the mouse.

  • @gnomegawd - Thanks for the information. No, most of us here are not French nor do we speak it. I would have been happy with just calling it the Souris River and left it at that.

  • who disliked this i want a name!

  • oh my god this is super sad this my home town and the flooding is supposed to be 9 feet higher than the 1969 flood :(

  • I use to live there for f5 yrs graduated from high school, still have friends there

  • a friend of mine lives in robindale trailer court

  • I live here in Minot except i live on the base. My great grandma lost her house

  • god bless the people of minot north dakota...

  • @bearlooter What's wrong with you? I'm curious.

  • @strickcity the comment by @bearlooter has been removed and @bearlooter has been blocked. Sorry you had to see such comments.

  • God Bless the brave people of North Dakota.

  • I moved from Minot near 10 years ago, most of my family still lives there. I have my figures crossed for you out there. great vid. I should have checked youtube first instead of the dumb news websites. Good Luck

  • Im going out to Minot in a few weeks. I have family out there. My heart, and prayers go out to you all.

  • Unfortunately the flood water expected to arrive June 26-27, 2011 are going to make this video look very mild. Predicted levels are expected to be 1664'. this will put 12'-14' of water in the river valley (6' deeper than record flood of 1969.

    Good Luck and God Bless!!

  • @dlmack306 I would like to point out that as I stated, this was a quick edit of footage I shot May 31st and June 1st. You can see then how the river was then, and now it is much higher and is expected to go even higher. I have not been out with my camera as I've been too busy helping to get ready.

  • @dlmack306 I'm going to ask a question that might be stupid, but where is all this water coming from? How does everyone know its coming 5 days in advance? I feel like I missed some critical piece of info

  • @lilbromarky1 the water is coming from canada and the Lake Darling Dam and we have an extra few inches of water from all the rain in north dakota and canda

  • @lilbromarky1 the area that drains into the Souris River (Rafferty Dam), Long Creek (Boundary Dam) and Moose Mountain Creek (Alameda Dam) is approximately 90 miles x 90 miles = 8,100 sq. miles. Factor in about a year ago a very wet summer and fall, above average snowfall and the run-off in spring when it all melted. Now we have had 1 years worth of rain in 2 months. The ground is completely saturated and everything runs off. It takes about 3-4 days for the water to flow south to Minot.

  • :O

  • Nice job .... Hold on folks!! We are all with ya! Praise Him in this storm!
