First of all it was buried 2 feet underground, with several 5 gallon buckets, filled with ice as a barrier between us, but metal still went completely through the bucket with the ice in it. And we were on a hill, so the metal just went into the hilside.
oh and by the way the video was just out of sync. there's no reason to get into science talk. even though for every 5 seconds of delay of light/sound there is about 1 mile of distance, so yea it was the video sync.
If you filled it up all the way, you wasted a lot of BP. It does not take much to build up enough pressure to burst open the co2 tank. If you filled it all the way, then it probably burned about half way, burst open, and burned the rest after it had exploded. Try a 9 oz. Or, try a few 3.5 oz tanks together (Massive pressure explosion). I used it to take out a CMU wall.
chukis if what your really saying occured, which didn't, then how come the startlement from the shockwave i felt occures as the sound happens...the speed of light occurs at the camera too as you can see the dust flies up and blocks the camera just as the sound happens so your saying only the fist half of the video expireneces lag when theoretically it would happen to the entire video
chukis you need to learn about this stuff before you talk about it. a perfect example of what he means is lightning and thunder. they occur at the same time, but you see the lightning before you hear the thunder because light travels faster than sound.
alright so nobody asks why it goes off before the sound i will explain...the scientific perplexities of the speed of light L=Mv 299 792 458 m / s travels at a higher velocity than the speed of sound therefore the visible spectrum of light will be visible before the sound waves penetrate the eardrums.
ooOOoo big words. you could have just said that sound waves travel slower than light waves. ;) Also i think the youtube conversion throws off the sound. In my vids i was standing 10 ft away and there's still a huge delay.
The reason no one asked is because everyone already knows that. Now you need to learn about the speed of black powder and how much PSI it can build up in what amount of time using how much Black Powder. Once you figure that out, depending on your BP, you will know exactly how big the bomb case needs to be : )
Oh, and that is way to close for it to delay the sound like that. Sound travels slower than the speed of light but it is still pretty fast. Your sound was probably messed up when you put it on youtube or by your camera (as some videos do on youtube).
your a fucking idiot for wasteing a paintball tank
especially a 20oz co2 tank

One of your friends of even you are going to get a Darwin award soon. I suggest doing this again and standing closer to claim your awards.

Rofl! Holding smaller-scale pipebombs between their legs would make them one of those select few that live to enjoy their Darwin awards...
