Ask any Herpetologist or experienced herp owner like myself. It's how often you feed them that determines how big they get. If you feed them less often they won't get so big but, if you feed them often(preferabley NOT power feeding) they'll get bigger.

@MNherpexpert how old is it. Mine goes long time without taking a crap sometimes. Just make sure it's not constipated (big lump before vent). Try warm bath usually helps, or hairless food. Usually nothing to worry about.
I had to persuade my friend to let me buy his red tailed boa. I did this not out of compulsion but because the snake is already 3yrs old and is only 3ft! and it was in a small cage! I felt so bad for the snake. I love your snakes and I hope I can nurse this one back to health and let it be able to grow to its normal size,and hope you or anyone else can help I'll up load his video later because thats when he will be in a bigger cage, I have to swap the ball python's cage with his current cage

How much height would a boa need in its cage? I know ball pythons can be kept in short cages. @shwag8585 i know a lot about boas. if i were you, i would try to get a male if you want it staying smaller. females will usually exceed 6ft. my male is 6ft as of now and about 4-5 years old. but, i would say feed smaller food and less often and you should be good to go. but, if i were you... id let it grow.
@shwag8585 If you dont want it to get that large you need to buy a smaller species of snake. I beleive blood pythons are about the size range youre wanting. Should do your research before commiting to a purchase and make sure you are getting the right snake for you.I suggest returning your boa and finding a snake better suited to you. By not feeding it enough you are basically stunting its growth through malnutrition and thats not good.

That's simple, soak your snake for 10 or 15 minutes and then just rub it down with your hand. Don't pull the scales, just use a little pressure to peel it. Also go from head to tail, never tail to head.
When I got my BCI he was much smaller than your baby boa. He was only 3 months. I think thats the average age they are sold. He's still only about 20 inches 2 months later. They don't grow that fast, especially males.
On the contrarry. It depends on how you feed them. I have my male boa on a regular feeding schedual and he is growing like a weed! lol. He isn't even a year old yet, around 10 and a half months and he is around 4 feet, maybe even a little bigger.
Is this a BCI? It doesnt look like it is. I just bought one today. The breeder says its a "Normal Colombian" and that he just calls it a "red tail" because a lot of people call them that. I'm really hoping what I'm getting is a "Colombian Boa Constrictor" and not a "Colombian Red Tail Boa"
Now I realize that they are the same thing. Although there is an official "red tailed boa" they refer to many of the red tailed boas as "Red Tailed Boa" which is a bit confusing. Not all red tailed boas are the official "red tailed boas"

That's simple, soak your snake for 10 or 15 minutes and then just rub it down with your hand. Don't pull the scales, just use a little pressure to peel it. Also go from head to tail, never tail to head.

When I got my BCI he was much smaller than your baby boa. He was only 3 months. I think thats the average age they are sold. He's still only about 20 inches 2 months later. They don't grow that fast, especially males.

On the contrarry. It depends on how you feed them. I have my male boa on a regular feeding schedual and he is growing like a weed! lol. He isn't even a year old yet, around 10 and a half months and he is around 4 feet, maybe even a little bigger.

Is this a BCI? It doesnt look like it is. I just bought one today. The breeder says its a "Normal Colombian" and that he just calls it a "red tail" because a lot of people call them that. I'm really hoping what I'm getting is a "Colombian Boa Constrictor" and not a "Colombian Red Tail Boa"

Now I realize that they are the same thing. Although there is an official "red tailed boa" they refer to many of the red tailed boas as "Red Tailed Boa" which is a bit confusing. Not all red tailed boas are the official "red tailed boas"

Boa constrictor is the latin name and red tail boa is the english name.. They are exactly the same thing..

Not quite, the Red Tail is a sub species of the Boa Constrictor. The Boa family has hundreds of sub species.

I have an 09 red tail ans at the moment she is about 2' long. she is really easy to handle at the moment. i hope that she gets to be as big as your female, you have a really nice red tail collection there.

@BrennenBASTARD Females grow larger than males but in order to get them that size it all depends how often you feed them and what you are feeding them I too have a 6 month old Red Tail Columbian Boa although I have kept her fairly small she is only 2 1/2 feet

your baby red tail has lighter colors than your adult one, sort of grey with creamy brown saddles.... will the baby grow up to be as dark as that big one?

They a never meet a max length they are always growing. After 3 to 4 years old there growth rate slows down to about an inch a year.

Yes I am saying a snake will grow till the day they die. There growth rate just decreases as they get old. That is y a snake sheds.

im plannin on gettin a ball python should i use a heat mat(under hide) as main heat scource(bask) and a lower watt bulb for over all heat of cage or use the heat mat for the cooler side under hide and 100watt bulb for bask area the hot side?

im 13 and i have an albino burmese python. so far ive had a brooks kingsnake that i gave to my brother, 2 ball pythons i sold one and the other died it wouldnt eat, a green anaconda that i sold because it was messy and stunk, a speckled kingsnake that i caught and set free later, a normal burm i gave to my friend, and i had a suriname red tail boa that i sold because i had 3 snakes and couldnt afford it, but i plan on getting a columbian boa that i will keep forever just like my albino burmese.

no they aren't redtail boa. they all are colombian boa (BCI)
The true red tail is a (BCC) they get around 10 feet
