Considering how versatile Mac's are, they are better. Call of Duty 4 is the least of your problems when competing in a high-demanding game environment. Sure, macbooks can run some games with some pretty extra little pieces of scenery, but face it, in real life, macs are completely pointless when it comes to customizing, upgrading, and high end gaming. Macs are pretty little princess eye candy animations shoved into a PC disguised by better CPU's and RAM than they used to have.

Aegnt09, do you realize that Mac Pro wouldn't be an amazing gaming computer? The GT120 isn't a great gaming card. It has 32 processing cores compared to the GTX260's 216 cores, the GTX280's 240 cores and the GTX295's 480 cores. A well equipped PC with a GTX295 would stomp that Mac when it came to gaming.

My desktop with a GTX280 has frame rates that stick at 90(that's the max in COD4 online) and that's running 1680 by 1050. My min fps was 60. COD4 is not a very demanding game graphically.

For starters, if your frame rate is pegged at 90 frames per second constantly, that means that when scenes get really complex, your frame rate won't drop to choppy levels.

Secondly, you can't see at 40fps, it's actually a little less than 30fps, but you can still percieve a higher frame rate. It's easy to distinguish 40fps from 60fps because even though your eyes process 30fps. when you have your computer pushing out 60fps, they're a smoother set of 30fps that your eye sees.

I know L4D doesn't, but plenty of other games on consoles do. Look at CoD4 on consoles. CoD4 was such an achievement because it runs at 60fps on 360 and PS3(although the resolution on both platforms is an abysmal ~1024 by 600). Why else would the developers choose such a low rendering resolution unless they really really wanted 60fps? Also, Left 4 Dead is a joke on modern PCs, it's such an easy game to run maxed out, that's why I was rather unimpressed with the gaming performance of the MBP.

well my dad has a 2.26 eight core nehalem mac pro with the nVidia Quadro FX 4800 and two GT120. its a six screen setup, 3 for working on and 3 on the walls to display stuff. I played Modern Warfare 2 on it. Yes the Ported version. I had it on highest settings, absolutly everything maxed out. i played the campaign and i had an average frame rate of 67!!!! COD 4 online about 80. When playing games the computer only uses the FX 4800, GT 120's arent taken into account

The 13 macbook pro comes with an integrated/un dedicated GPU called the 9400 which is different than the one in this video. It should be able to handle the game at low to medium resolutions.

yes, natively. OS X is designed specifcally to run with mac specs. programs designed for windows would have to have decoding plugins to access mac hardware. therefore slowing things down a bit.
