He chose her for three main reasons that I can see. One) Her open mindedness toward religion and how it will play in her decision making. Two) She is a fiscal conservative, far further right and the current conservatives were not liking McCain so he needed someone who would appeal to them. Lastly, he needed someone of youth, charm and appeal that could get him the voters that would never normally vote for him,
