  • One of the videos I seen as a very young child which got me into indie and alternative music. There's nothing on TV now promoting decent music...

  • The people who disliked this have upside down eyes!!

  • comment on your tags: this is folk-punk, but i think there there should be a new category: POKE music, its less of a mouthful, lol.

  • @somonelse666 When are the Levellers' Greatest Hits due to be released?

  • Fantastico!! still sounds great today!!!! :D

  • i recall alan mcgee, then head of creation, saying that this was the best song of all time, sorry al but it really isn't and never even was in the top 1000, it is the levellers best song though, although the album version is much better.

  • Still a great song but man, the video's not aged well, has it :)

  • @eszettfromhell - LOL! Ah, but there is something eternal about hippy-dippy psychedelic swirly-wirly themes!

  • @KrilaSounds Yes this was so modern for the time just like me at 14 and still means a great deal

  • @eszettfromhell are you kidding me? have you seen MGMT-Time to Pretend? totally stole it.

  • @eszettfromhell I dunno, I think it looks kinda cool!

  • the blood sweat and tears, really dont matter, just the things that you do in this garden..epic song..one of my faves..

  • I was working at Reading fest this year behind a bar, and this pissed guy saw my Lev's tat's and started singing this mockingly, then started rambling about how shit the band are. Naturally, I refused to serve him again ^____^

  • labour took a long time to defeat this blood sport

this and the minimum wage is about the only things they have got right in 10 years

    T I M E L E S S

  • with a million deaths on blairs hands i would say the war is NOT a success

  • Success is just a matter of perspective.

  • chilling2008 - unfortunately they did NOT defeat this disgusting blood "sport". The hunt still go out as normal, I live in the country, last year they even ran amok through my garden, hounds in the greenhouse, arrogant bastards on horses on my lawn asking "who are you?" when I went out in a red rage. Got the police. They did fuck all. Sure they would move quick if I reported someone for smoking pot though. Hypocrites. This country SUCKS!

  • Wow.

What's it like being a Levellers song?

  • big fan** i copy and pasted it from one of my comments on another vid of this song from another site and igot some of it in the wrong place

  • There are two sides I agree. But it's just a song. I like it for the overall message of the chorus. I listen to a vast range of music I don't neccessarily agree with (sample lyric "here's the church, here is the steeple, set it on fire, and kill all the people") but I enjoy the music. I suppose it helps if you agree which the opinions of a band but isn't fundamental to the enjoyment of a song.

  • yeah i see what your saying. i mean i love the idea's the levellers convey and what they basicly mean. i am a huge fan of the levellers and have been since i was born. literally my mum and dad were playing levelling the land in the car on the way home from hospital with me in the back.

its just i get annoyed with anti hunting people because a mate of mine had spraypaint put in her horses eye to stop it hunting.

  • I don't agree with hunting, but I also don't agree with nasty things like hurting the people or horses that take part. I wore my hunt sabs t-shirt out one day and almost got beaten up, I have also been slapped for my views, even though I am not militant.

There are bad people on both sides of the arguement, and I hate it when it comes to nastiness. I can recognize some points hunters make, I just think there is a better way. It shouldn't come to people being horrible to each other.

  • Wasnt the horses fualt i agree, someone should have painted her red and chased her to death through a feild. Stupid hunting fuckers cant even do it fair, you fuckers block up the Dray bastards

  • @boblu1 Right on!

  • @boblu1 I was camping in Devon an the hunt woke me up, incidentally though I saw the Levellers later that day.

  • @boblu1 long time ago u posted this, but hey ure rite, and now the cons r bak in power its comin bak that fox huntin shit, we should have a day of huntin down the goverment once a year with macheties n baseball bats!

  • classic!! cheers!

  • amazing song!

i reckon this was the inspiration for the hitcher on the boosh

  • i hope it is!

  • I was thinking they sounded similar too! And don't forget the crack fox! The Boosh nicked all their ideas from this video...

  • haha yeah the crack fox!! mentioned in the song no less :-)

  • Thats mi boys, they stayed at our house when I was 4, they played a b'day song for me... can you blame me for loving them the rest of my life?

  • if this is as far a cultures got, then

    I deny it

  • His eyes were wide but his mind was shut

    To the redcoat's bugle calls

  • running for his life!

love this song. brilliant video ta for posting it i hadnt seen it before

  • When I Was out I Saw a Fox... (Please Carry on this verse lol.)

  • When I was out, I saw the fox

He was running for his life

And his eyes were wild, and his mind was shut

    To the redcoats' bugle cries

And he reached his hole and his path was blocked

    By some "sportsman"'s clever guise

If this is as far as your culture's got, then

    I deny it!

  • not our culture and not in our name
