hi can i just solder the covers to the pickup without adding silicone? im assuming its there to make it stick better, so i would just run the risk of a loose pickup cover? thank you in advacne
@rancidhotmail You can add it without using solder or silicone, as long as it fits tight enough it don't matter. Its cosmetic anyway, so if you don't like it, take it off!
@buttsy344556 you can glue it so long as its not with a glue that cures through evaporation because it simply would take forever to cure ... hes using caulk beacause its cures without evaporation and it holds almost for good ... only improvement he couldve added would be to have used an epoxy or glue that comes off with heat incase they want it taken off later ... also gluing isnt always required ... glueing just keeps the cover from touching the poles but if its a tight cover it can go without
Do I have to sotter and put the silicone stuff on? Do I even have to take the pickups out? Please send back I jst ordered some covers and thought it would be easy and told my mom that she wouldn't have to pay someone to put them in. Pleasee respond. Pleeaassee!!
To "dponzi56" it makes me laugh that you think I THINK he is working on HIS guitar. this guy obviously works in a guitar repair shop therefore the chances of this guitar being his is probably 1 to 100,000. maybe you should read what i said more carefully. ALSO gold doesn't tarnish assface..... maybe you should learn something before you jump in and start bashing people. (no wonder why your comments were removed) LOL
@BurnAfterEating it will change the sound a little ... they will make them sound only slightly smoother with more clarity because the push poles are covered and insulated ... but not much difference at all
I have rail style pickups that are already wax potted will this work on my guitar? will it make the tone more warm or microphonic or something? thanks in advance.
If you don't work on your guitar much then I'd say take it to a pro. Covers are specific to each pickup or style of pickup, but you have to be sure to get the right spacing.
@rsguitarworks Umm , where can I get that glue, is it a special kind of glue ? and is it really necessary to have that holder, Thanks . Im understanding this now. Maybe im going to mess my les paul but no worries.
do you have to solder on the pickup cover? whats the silicon thing you put on the pick up? Does the pick up have to be off the guitar(as in not soldered on) basically im trying to avoid soldering.
So what was the point of the silicone?
wpmtpm 1 month ago
do you have to solder them? is it not possible to just slide the covers over the pickups while they're still on the guitar? thanks

@SuperGameSpot with plastic covers you risk melting them if your not handy with the iron

@SuperGameSpot No, they should just pop over.

Our covers will only fir PAF spaced pickups with a 49.2mm or 1 15/15" spacing.

do you have to put the sillicon on if your pickup is already wax potted?
exmag 1 year ago
It's much better to do it out of the guitar, but if you are very careful you can do it with them still in the guitar.

how can i age a guitar pickup cover
CrushedJustice 1 year ago
Do a google search. I'm sure there is a lot of info out there. What we do to ours won't work on most factory covers, so it won't help you.

kristofferpence 1 year ago
What is that silicon thing?
hazechill 1 year ago
It stops the pickup from feeding back without wax potting the pickup.
