one-if this is on land you only need the base 1 block tall and two why does the elavator need to go so high?

@TheWayOfTheShay No, it needs to be two because the channels need to be two deep in order to keep the mobs in. It needs to every high because mobs will not spawn within 24 blocks of you, including downwards.

Help! I built a variation of this (I didn't do the mobavator, I made a stream coming from the channels to the outside of the spawner) and mobs do not spawn a lot... If you don't want to do the 144 block away from you you should do the most of it in MC EDIT. It is not cheating, it is just a quick digging tool

Getting the wood for signs will be easy......but all that cobblestone lol think I'll just stick to dirt. Glass will be a pain in the ass but sand is easy to harvest and will just take time to smelt - nothing multiple furnaces can't cure =D

@MageDb0w It's because they changed the way mobs spawn to prevent players for building these kind of trap. I guess they did'nt like the fact that we could build ourself an automatic mob grinder. I tested severals designs and i get the same results, they do spawn but in such low quantity it's not viable anymore. The only viable option these days is to build one from an actual "mob spawner box" found in dungeons.

@mrludde1000 Mob spawners naturally occur underground. Just go into a cave and explore it until you find one. It will be nearby a room with cobble and moss cobble. It will spawn 3 types of mobs. The first is zombie, the second is skele and the last is spider. Easiest to farm is zombie.
