  • Na, he's not on speed... LoL.

  • Even then he yelled at audience...

  • This is not funny. Good he's sobered up.

  • He seems like a completely different person then

  • hes so much better today

  • @mousey9334 Yes, when he was being his onstage character Bing Hitler. In normal conversation he didn't sound like that. He grew up in Cumbernauld; the Bing Hitler accent is an exaggerated Falkirk/Grangemouth accent with a bit of Fife & Highland with a twist thrown in for good measure!

  • About as funny as cardboard.

  • WASPS.... White Anglo Saxon ProtestantS

  • Reminds me of an angry version of Henry from Eraserhead. lol

  • @knnyphph omg, I SEE IT!

  • Craig looks drunk here

  • @JuanOfaKind88 He probably is at that time he was most likely still an alchoolic

  • Damn wasps.

  • what's wrong with john denver?

  • @procrastinator300 nothing at all, that's the point of the joke

  • fuckin chancer

  • It's so hard to watch this after reading his book and knowing he's strung out on drugs and alcohol at this point in his life. Thank god you got sober Craig I really love you now :)

  • just out of curiosity, was he drunk here? Didn't he stop in 1990 or something?

  • @TofurkeyMan Yeah, he stopped in 1992.

  • I'm thinking Spring Awakening. XD

  • @MrAmadaeus I was talking about your inbred ass. Not Craig's. Craig's all right, well at least now he is, the stand ups in the old days were pretty lame.

  • @MrAmadaeus damn.

  • @MrAmadaeus Things I hate even more, nations that decide to disregard any phonetic connection with their written language in their oral communication, while bashing the other nations that share the same language on the grounds of 400 year old wars and for the sake of the coolness of superficial cynicism.

Stay where you are, you bitter-ass-consonant-loving-sheep-shaggin-mufucka.

  • @MrAmadaeus it's not like he's a faking fucking American. He IS a citizen which make him an American. Sounds like someone is sad they lost their national treasure.

  • @eebsy Oooo somebody needs to simmer down.

  • @christinedeal You call someone a fucking cunt because you don't agree with them? What a tool. Get some anger management, and then lose your keyboard.

  • @Iissafaith You retard. I didn't call her a fucking cunt because I didn't agree with her I called her a fucking cunt beacause she insulted my country.

  • AHAHAHAHAA the Mezcal Joke I can't even

  • i'd like to show this to craig and watch him reminisce

  • This was a couple years before he planned to commit suicide. Also before he lost all that weight.... Possibly a couple years after he came back from New York? Before every show he would drink to calm his nerves, and before each day he would do lines of coke to hide his drunkeness.

His book comes in handy in times like these.

  • @rissathemighty I knoooow, It really light lecture but i'm loving it , He is just so sincere on everything, makes you love him more

  • It really makes me sad to see him like this :(

  • @frankielamps00008 why? he was playing a character you know... but yeah he was such an addicted mess it's a miracle he became sober

  • Holy... I hate to see him like this. I know those stage lights can be hot, but he was seriously sweating and.... just... looked... so sick. I couldn't bring myself to laugh... after seeing him talk about the Christmas he almost committed suicide because of these problems... :\ I'm so glad he's sober.. he's really an inspiration. And, really, if you saw both videos and still wanna drink etc, you already must be on a drug...

  • @AngryOfMayfair

Oh yeah. Americans have low expectations. Let's pin another label on the Americans. Thanks.

It's your opinion that he's not a good comedian, but saying that American audiences have low expectations is just a stereotype.

  • Holy SHIT, his accent is thick here.

  • @headphonic8 He says he exaggerated it a bit for this act.

  • @headphonic8

He was playing a character with a particularly exaggerated accent :-)

  • @Lorrico14 no he actually sounded like that in the beginning.

  • reminds me of eraserhead. david lynch fans might agree. :)

  • lol that speech recognition software is hilarious. "please do a compliant Idaho bumping in the window."? :)

  • Is it just me or does he look pretty much exactly like Jason Segal here?

  • Well, he´s funny here, better than many comedians now....but, really: He´s better now! =). That is something good, many get worse with the years. I´m an alcoholic, too, I can understand him in that !!!. I LOVE his kind of comedy, maybe the greatest talent in Stand-Up today.

  • Shame half of its reworked Jerry Sadowitz material !

  • I used to love his old stand up stuff. I'm so happy that someone uploaded it.

All I remember is that hair.

He's no less funny than he is now. It's just different.

  • he looks like elvis in this video... dressed by Tim Burton

  • he kinda reminds me of Eduard Scissorhands here :D

  • lol turn captions on its funny as hell

  • Saw him at the Cafe Royal in Edinburgh in, ooh let me think, 1984. He was rubbish, forgot his lines, forgot his name! But alas, speaking to the guy at the bar after the show, he came over as a really sound man. Glad to see he's gone onto bigger and better things. For all it's not in Caledonia :)

  • Handsome, plump and scattered

  • Man, I'm glad Craig got off the booze and drugs. He looks/sounds like the lovechild of Alexei Sayle and Buckwheat. Two great tastes that taste horrible together.

  • who's John Denver?

  • @gues04 it was a folk singer who was big in the 60's

  • very very funny the first time u see it !

and funny all over again when the Transcribe audio button (CC) attempts to translate what hes sayin in that Strong scottish accent : )

  • @pollytix thx LOL

  • just read his book a couple of days ago too, i cried. it's sad to see him like this, i'm so happy he's sober

  • I finished reading his book around a month-two months ago and i wanted to see him as "bing hitler", and man has his accent really smoothed out, but he is definatly one of our greatest comedians of our time so far. i love the fact that he was been sober for what now, almost 20, more than 20 years? and yet he is even funnier than when he was a cocaine addict or a drunk like in this video. no matter what, i'll always love craig though.

  • @cityyandcolourr

Bluntly put he's aged well because he's stopped drinking. Look at him here, all bloated and tired. The video is 23 years ago yet he looks better now, all because of alcohol. Good on him. A real inspiration.

  • @HecklerBlog couldn't agree more

  • his accent got soft over the time

  • Craig has definately aged VERY well. Hate to say it, but he is so much better looking NOW.

  • Heh. God. He's out of his mind on drugs. He is on of the few comedians/rock stars/edgy and genius level artists who get better once they get sober. So many end up losing that edge, or they try too hard to do exactly what they were doing before sobriety. I love Craig. Personally, I'm am addict, so I can relate to him a lot. I'm very proud he got sober. He's an inspiration to me

    -michael

  • @xMswmSwmsWx I'm with you buddy!

and I also found this funny as fuck, I wonder if he ever realised he'd combined edward hitler and richarb bottom into the same character..

    loved it....

    *one drunk to another*

  • Damn... he looked good then.... BUT... he looks better now. LOVE Craig's comedy... Worms are hemorrhoids. lol my sides hurt from laughing.

  • Oh, man... I love his facial expressions!

  • He looks healthier now than he did here. And I think his improv style on The Late Late Show is a lot funnier. But everyone who is a fan should definitely read his book.

  • His accent reminds me of Billy Connolly in his early days ;)

  • This is wonderful, but it reminds me eerily of Karl Pilkington's views on things.

  • love the accent.

    hate the hair.

adore craig forever. thank god hes stopped drinking.

  • he wanted to be a scientist who was floged by american anti intellectualism commonly found in working class trods who obey the words of their party like hard lined idiots.

  • I find Craig funny pre and post getting sober. But he's much better after. This is great. But I bet you that if he did the same act now he'd make it much funnier. And thats even minus the experiences he's had with comedy between then and now.

He's still funny though. I must admit, I can not look at bees or wasps the same way again.

  • billy connolly did a similar thing about annoying spiders

  • wasps are bastards!!!

  • beetles, wood lice, and most epecially bees!!!

  • i hate worums too

  • He moved to the US so as to arm himself. Actually his act and accent are the same. As amusing as ever.

  • @brianbrane No, his accent has changed a lot. It's much stronger here than it is now.

  • Wow, his accent was so much stronger before he emigrated to America.

He seems more, um, "sane" now, but not boring.

Best late night show in my opinion. Leaves Letterman, Kimmel etc. in the dust. I not even going to mention that other guy, you know, the one who likes to explain a (lame) joke right after he tells it.

  • Jerry Sadowitz minus the occasional laughs

  • That was the funniest stand up I've ever seen but sad like looking in the mirror I only wish I had his strangth to quit drinking Craig please help me

  • He looks so much happier now days on his show.

  • @HogwartsCastle He does look lit here.

  • @bookett09 he lost soo much of his accent, and his voice has aged, wtf have you been watching

  • I've been wondering what Bing Hitler looked like ever since I read American on Purpose... thanks!

  • @synicalrules If you like his writing read Between the bridge and the river.

  • He kind of looks like Jonny Lee Miller here. Love love love Craigy Ferg.

  • Oh God. I hate this. I've just finished his book (American on Purpose) and it hurts me to watch this because I know that he was drunk and had problems with both alcohol and drugs at this point in his life.

  • his face looks different today, he's still a very attractive man

  • is bing hitler not meant to be a rip-off of Jerry Sadowitz?

  • @sweiland75 well, in american on purpose, he states that the bing "character" is a very backwoods kind of provinical. So while he has most likely lost some of his accent..he was also putting on more of a rural scotish accent for this character.

  • dude, wasps ARE basterds. Go Craig.

  • So this is the notorius Bing Hitler! Not quite what I pictured after reading American on Purpose, but still hilarius. I recommend "American on Purpose". Craig Ferguson has had a hell of a life.

  • he's hilarious...but it is very evident that he was a drinker

  • he's really good! he's telling extremely weak jokes but telling em so WELL

  • mind you....

  • he was funny then. he is much funnier now! and way better looking as an old guy. his hair is weird.

  • umm TheBander13 Craig is wearing a wig and in a silly custume. Part of showbiz.

  • He stole Jerry Sadowitz' act.

  • ROFL! That was so great!

  • The goldfish thing cracked me up!! I had a totally different look for Bing Hitler in my head XD

  • Shut Up!

  • for someone whos pissed that was pretty damn funny

  • his accent was so much thicker than it is now!! but maybe that's because he was half drunk too...

  • Yeah, he might have been putting it on too. Or at least making it thicker than it really was.

  • thanks, i remember this clip back from '87 and have been looking for it ever since!

  • shite, drunk and shite

  • lol

He was pretty good even when he was young and drinking.

As a fat guy I like him when hes fat.

The part about the Bee and tv show was pretty good.

  • Kinda looks like Robert Smith (From cure)

  • thats exactly what i was just thinkning

  • I thought that too as soon as I seen the screen capture!!!!

  • @deadasfak lol yea

  • terrible

  • Damn, wasnt expecting that to be funny. I mean he is funny in general, but as drunken Bing Hitler...i thought he got booed of stages as Bing Hitler!!

  • yeah this is about 5 years before he stopped drinking. I think he was still doing cocaine at this time, too? He's always been funny, but sobriety treats him so much better. You can tell he's not truly happy in these videos...He looks like he's got a huge weight on his shoulders.

He's definitely better now, with the late late show. He's high on life now. waaay funnier.

    =) xx

  • lol that was awsome =) but he looks kind of fatter then he does know i wonder if this was when he was still drinking

his book is awsome everybody sould read it!

  • yeah he got sober in 92 so yes he was still drinking

  • Bahaha. I love Bing Hitler!

  • skinheads of the insect world! hahahahh

  • haha i can totally picture him in his band like this. hehe

i want to find his band!!

  • Even Hammered he was awesomly hilarious

  • Awesome. Thanks for posting this.

  • read his book..he is hammered

  • which one?

  • his new one called "american on purpose"...he actually talks about the very act in this clip from the montreal comedy festival

  • Thanks, I only have enough $ for one of them, so I'll get that one.

  • To theETOkid1: Please try and get "Between the Bridge and the River" as well. It is incredible and shows how deep Mr. Ferguson's talent really goes. The weaving of the characters and the storylines keep you mesmerized.

If you can't buy it, please check it out at the library.

I loved his autobiography as well.

This man is truly gifted. [Alright...and he is every bit as charming as well!]

  • I've known about "Between the Bridge and the River", but didn't realize it wasn't a work of fiction. What's it about? I really loved "American on Purpose". You could almost here his voice and charisma translated through print.

  • @TheFred3733 100% agreed.

"Between the Bridge and the River" was a literary masterpiece

  • if all his comments are true, he was either drunk or high LOL

  • He's so young!!! I mean, he doesn't seem old at all on his show, but it's just wild here how young he is!

  • omg this is so weird!!! He looks cracked out of his mind, and after reading his book, he probably is here... :(

  • omg, could his pupils be any more dilated??! :(

  • Just finished his book the other night and I was surprised and quite pleased to find this. I was thinking I'd rather like to see him as Bing Hitler. Reading about it isn't quite the same, haha.

  • lmao thats exactly what i was thinking!

  • his book was a very good read.

  • he really did loose his accent...

  • WOW! So different!

  • He looks like Robert Smith

  • ah yes, that's it! i couldn't quite place it....

  • I read his book a few days ago and it was very emotional and I cried so much at the end, and to see this video is... amazing because it's so different from reading and seeing it.

Other than that, he is funny with or without drunking or drugs. xD But I'm really glad he stopped and didn't die from all of that.

  • @boulevardlullaby i just read his book too, me and him are too similar....

  • He was great in Simply Red, wasn't he?

  • Great book btw... and yes, he was very very drunk at the time... well, all of the time.

  • god, he was young. And I'm pretty sure that he was drunk as well ;)

  • he was screwed up !

  • im reading craig's new book at the moment, and i just finished this passage, this is so wierd to actually see that footage.

  • MAN he looks coked out of his box...

  • So has anyone seen a wasp that looks like the late John Denver?

  • Aggression from someone that pretty... interesting. :D

  • its such a different style of comedy, this was back when he was drinknig ang u can tell because he's so sweaty ang the style of comedy is so angry. now uts much more laid back and its more observational than just ranting. also he's bee in america for 15 years or so and thts why his accent is more americanized now than it was in this clip

  • Craig kind of looks like Pete Doherty when he was younger.

  • He was adopting an exaggerated provincial Scottish accent for comedy purposes.

  • And what makes you think it's an "exaggerated provincial" accent?!! Sounds fairly normal to me!

  • In an interview, Craig Ferguson described the Bing Hitler thing as putting on an exaggerated provincial accent.

  • I LOVE it.

  • it's part of the costume

  • part of his costume?? Nah he was REALLY high. lol he used to be heavy into drugs.

  • wow. his accent was so much stronger back then ...

  • When you move to a country OBVIOUSLY you will start to take on the accent of the people around, it's just natural. I like his American/Scottish accent. This accent makes me cringe, and that comes from someone with a Scottish accent.

  • Brilliant! Remember how funny bing was!

  • I remember this! Thanks so much for posting it : )

  • this is great....XD

  • It makes me laugh so much watching this, mainly for his hair but also cause he is just soo angry!

    I'm glad he got sober
