I'd say Seasons in the Abyss was Slayer's swan song, as they have not produced anything worthwhile or even approximating this or their earlier works. They're still a competent and powerful live band, but even then it seems at times they're just going through the motions. Still though, they should be remembered as a primary influence on the underground metal that came after them.
