  • I do not believe what I see...??? the audience is siting still as if in a theater??

  • rip buddy..............................

  • Sound quality is shit.

  • Buddy Miles did it while he was with the Electric Flag as the drummer

  • Could listen to the guitar and bass on this forever...

  • wow i cant believe its been 25 yrs since i saw steve live on that very MSG stage back in '86 n man that voice of his still kicks butt!

  • dang. I luv me some steve w.

  • VERY tasty improv from Clapton !!! yuh !!

  • Great job on the vid!! Great sound and, of course, fantastic performance !!

  • clapton just couldnt play the hendrix version with the amazing wah???????

  • this should be released on disk, ive always liked this tunes groove

  • Nice jam!!! KEWL KEWL KEWL buddy would be smiling

  • Nice jam!!! KEWL KEWL KEWL buddy would be smiling

  • Here's an explanation for you guys...

Oh, I guess Eric Clapton and Stevie Winwood also played this song 2/27/08.

Because Buddy Miles listened this song live through his cellphone a day before he died(2/27/08).

Here's an explanation for you guys...

It's good to have some people like Eric and Stevie keeping the Spirit Of Rock alive.

  • Great song, I love how the Leslie cab is spinning away

  • They sound great.. steve is sing great!

  • kingfish1999 top!

  • HOT! HOT! HOT! It doesn't get any better than this!

Went to the first show! SUPERB!

  • Who's singing?

  • RIP BUDDY

  • willie weeks on bass !

  • I don't think these guys are attempting to play the BOG version. Check out the Buddy Miles Them Changes album (with horns) and you'll hear this version is a lot closer to what Clapton/Winwood are playing. That said, there's a guy named Charlie Karp who plays a nice solo on the "original" (no it's not Hendrix, but who is?)

  • The guitar wah! wah! is missing from this performance. It supposed to be in there. This was the second voice that accompanied Buddy Miles and his great song. The wah! wah! boosted Jimi's guitar an octave higher and is what helped make the original version funky and kick a lot of ass. Sorry, I like Clapton but I love Jimi a lot more. LOL

  • @55Diddley. First of all, there is no rule written anywhere saying a wah-wah is "supposed" to be in this song.I've heard probably a dozen different interpretations of this song and only Jimi's and I think Jeff Beck's version has it. Second, a wah-wah doesn't boost a guitar an octave higher. Third, no one gives a shit if you like Jimi more than Clapton. I like Steve Cropper more than both of them. Do you care? I didn't think so.

  • @tomthefunky a year late and a dollar short. Who gives a damn what you think ,johnny come lately.

  • @TrackratM3 disagree

  • This song totally tears its really easy to play too. Hey has anyone noticed the older and older Eric Clapton gets he happens to play his guitar alot harder he just has been jammin these last few years I mean yeah hes good but hes getting alot better as he gets older...

Anyone think that he wants to get like this before he dies? lol cause thats what I think.

  • this is a fucking jam i dont care who does it RIP buddy miles more miles to the gallon baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @pgreenlee

    Amen

Wouldn't it be great if there could be just one dam' comments thread that didn't descend into a musical-taste d!ck-waving contest -- just one?

It's a great performance by great performers.

There is nothing gained by comparing it to other performances and performers.

Let's be thankful for Buddy Miles' brilliance & his time with us, and hope he's jamming happy somewhere.

  • I like Clapton, but seriously folks (Hey Joe!): Hendrix is better in this tune ... even Neal Schon/Carlos Santana are better in a 1970 Hawaii crater! Yes!

But I love the singer! Winwoods as good as Jack Bruce and Robert Plant, and singin the Blues, hes better!

  • Comming with real sound in my ears from that New years concert 69/70 where The Band of gypsies play this,,,,,,he he he there is NO comparison. These guys are great, but its stiff and nuttheavy played.

Do yourself a favour and LISTEN to the real thing.: B O G with Hendrix, Miles and Cox.

  • I have this, too! Lovin' it!

  • This is a great tune. I just got the CD for Father's day.Winwood on vocals and Clapton on lead guitar. Doesn't get any better than that.

  • Apart from Buddy and Jimi hendrix on guitar.

  • I saw Buddy Miles at the Spectrum in Ph

illy in 1973; he was one of the unsung, un

derated greats of "Rock n Roll. And is lo

ng over due to be in the "Rock n Roll"hall

of fame. Thank you for posting this well

deserved tribute. And much love , respect

to EC/Winwood for there tribute to one of

the all time greats. R.I.P. Buddy Miles.

  • yeah, I saw Buddy around that time to in Colorado Springs. Despite a very light turn-out he put on a fantastic show. "The Cement Mixer" laid down one funky, precise beat when he got behind those drums. Gypsys [sic] was far better than anything else Hendrix did in his life-time and Miles Davis used to tell Jack DeJohnette (incredible jazz drummer) to "play like Buddy" Now THAT's an endorsement!

  • bravi,eh ?

  • It's coming this spring. A dvd and cd.

  • i love winwood and clapton together. Is there a professional video of this. i want this concert sooooo bad. can some one help me out? reply, or send me a message.

  • Man i love the fact that clapton has been playing a lot lately. His shows now a days are his best ever

  • That is as rockin' as Clapton & Winwood have been in ages. Fuckin' great.

  • R.I.P Buddy Miles. Legend.

  • When was this concert performed? Anywhere i can find the professional video of this? I'd love to have it.

  • clapton also recorded his version of little wing with derek and the dominoes days before hendrix died

  • Would love to see this concert available on DVD! It's great to see these legends gettin' their groove on and covering so many cool tunes.

  • THE LIST

Clapton was the day before Stevie ray vaughn died.

    Played with George Harrison.died

Buddy miles heard by telephone them changes 2days before his death in this concert.

    CLAPTON THE SALT MAN.

  • ...and don't forget Duane Allman! Some of the last sessions he played on were for Layla and other assorted love songs, then he died less than one year later. Just joking of course, Eric, and Duane too, are two of my favourite guitarists since the first time I picked up the instrument.

  • Clapton was also about to give Hendrix a Strat he had pruchased for Jimi days before he died... His son also died in a strange way.

  • @mattnara I heard that he bought the guitar one day before Jimi died to give it to him as a gift. Also I heard Clapton say in an interview that he was furious when Jimi Hendrix died because he felt cheated!

  • Unfortunately Clapton hasn't played "Them Changes" since the EC/Winwood MSG shows.

  • Great tribute to a great man, RIP Buddy, so glad I saw you perform in the 60's, best drummer I ever saw & one of the greatest soul voice's of my generation. Buddy & I are the same age & saw the "Electric Flag" every time they played SF during the 60's.

  • This is terrific. God Bless you Buddy Miles. Thank you EC, Stevie and WILLIE WEEKS.

  • Buddy Miles died on February 26, 2008 at his home in Austin, Texas at the age of 60.

There was a history of congestive heart failure in his family. His sister and mother both died of the same illness.

The day before Buddy died, he heard Steve Winwood and Eric Clapton playing 'Them Changes' at Madison Square Garden through his cell phone. 'Them Changes' is now part of Clapton's set on tour as a tribute to Budd

  • Unfortunately Clapton hasn't played "Them Changes" since the EC/Winwood MSG shows.
